*Official 2016 Philadelphia Eagles* - The year of Change (1 Viewer)

I wish your gut included a janitor in Buffalo or something.
Haha no insider info on this one unfortunately.  Just a hunch, seems destined to happen.  He probably won't cost a ton of money, reunited with Schwartz, talk today about how he will likely be released.  Even though he's past his prime, with our D-Line, he wouldn't have to be more then a productive rotational guy which could extend his career too.  It has to happen!

Today's Bradford News.

Per Jeff McLane, the Eagles met with Tom Condon, the agent of Sam Bradford, and negotiations on a new contract are ongoing.

"Interesting Pederson said what they do in #NFLDraft has no effect on #Eagles re-signing Bradford"

On DeMarco Murray front, I'm told by team source it will be Doug Pederson and not Howie Roseman who will have final say if he stays/goes.

I don't think it's either of their decisions if he stays or goes is it?  They'd be stupid to cut him, and they'd both trade him in a heartbeat if someone would do that.

I think it would be very hard to actually give him away with that contract - but maybe a team like Oakland that has a ton of cap space and went after him hard last offseason will bite.
Supposedly Oak offered him more money last year too. But seeing his decline may change their mind on that.

Vegas O/U Wins for 2016:

That's Vegas' way of saying, "We have to offer a line on this division 'cause it's our job, but we have no ####### clue how it's going to turn out."

I'm going to conduct a little experiment right now ... I'm about to flip 16 coins for each team (OK, not actually; I'm gonna use an Internet RNG, 'cause I'm lazy) and post my official win totals for each team, in this same order. Then we can all check back at the end of the season and share a good laugh at how my RNG was more accurate than these O/Us.

basically the same as Vegas.
Vegas has armies of statisticians, exabytes of historical data, and literally millennia of combined sports handicapping experience.

I have a 30-second visit to a random-number web site and the ability to count heads on a computer screen.

I think that's sort of the point I was trying to make.

Try that for another division though.  Ours is fairly even because your coins will likely end up around the 8 mark which is what our div is expected to be.

If this DM29 trade happens then I can't help but think that we will acquire JC25.

"The Eagles upped their offer to Sam Bradford during meetings with Bradford's agent at the NFL Scouting Combine last week as a way of making a strong push to close out a multi-year deal for the quarterback before the start of free agency, sources told FOX Sports

The terms of the offer aren't available, but sources indicated the Eagles believe it's a very strong offer for Bradford -- one that's at the top of his expected range on the open market and one that should help get him under contract before that market opens on March 9.

Though former Eagles coach Chip Kelly is the one who brought Bradford to Philly, sources have repeatedly said Howie Roseman likes what he saw from Bradford last year, as do Doug Pederson and his offensive coaching staff."

They clearly don't like the QB's at the combine. Bradford/Chase are your 1-2 next year. A fourth or fifth is your clipboard guy.

Didinger has been talking up Dak Prescott for the past few weeks.  I was intrigued when watching him back when Kelly was still the coach, thinking he might be a good guy in the read-option.  Not sure about his overall pro prospects, but I definitely like the idea of taking him in the 3rd much more than trying for Lynch at 13.

Agree.  But if they lock up Sam long term, don't think we can waste a 3rd on a QB.  Maybe if Chase is our starter then it would be a good idea though.

So now it seems that it's a game of chicken with Sam. We probably offered him what could be considered a lowball, possibly insulting offer from Condons POV and were daring them to sign before free agency where they may or may not get more money. I wonder if the offer goes down should he not find anything out there?

I do still think one team will jump in for stupid money for Bradford. Easy to say they have no interest now but QB desperate teams throw desperate money at the problem when Free Agency opens.

I'm sure the offer will go down if no one offers more.  I don't think what they offered was that low though.  My guess is they meet in the middle around 20M sometime this week.

So he wants $25M, that means you're saying Philly would want to offer him $9M/year?  Seriously?
I think the 25 million request was before the season.  I think his market value may be around 20 million.  I was hoping we could lock him up around 17-18 million. With games-played incentives.

Cousins turned down $15 million so Sam's camp is probably watching that. I'd offer both 17-18 and take either. Stuff is gonna happen fast on the 9th.

Mike Garafallo was just on 97.5 and he said the increased offer was somewhere around 12 to 15. That is what he is hearing. So take that for what it's worth

Good.  Don't go crazy with this, we have lots of other needs.  Love to bring him back, but not for crazy money.  I'm not sure the market for his will be what he or his agent thinks.  Houston's really the only team I see paying a bunch for him.

I agree. I'm not a fan of Bradford but at that price with the ability to get out of the deal after 2 years if needed, I can live with it.

I'd love to have him at 12-15 M too but I just don't think that's realistic.  We've probably bridged the gap where we're willing to go up to 15 and his camp is willing to go down to 20, so still a pretty big 5M gap to negotiate down over the next week

With Sam's injury history, I think they would be crazy not to be grooming a young QB. If they like Prescott in the 3rd, I say go for it. I hardly think it is a waste to get depth at a position as important as QB with a starter who has a bad injury history.

I get that, but if he signs a 4 year deal, when we have so many other needs, we shouldn't be wasting our 2nd pick on a QB that isn't in our plans to start in the next 4 years.

Have to disagree. You can sign Chase and cut Sanchez if we sign Bradford long term but we're not running without a 3rd string with an injury prone starter.  They wont invest big money in a 3rd string veteran though. QB is still a need long term. Even if you sign Bradford, there is zero guarantee he'll stay healthy or he's any good. In two years, they could be moving on and it would be better to have taken some time to try to develop a guy instead of waiting till then to draft some one.  A rookie 3rd or 4th rounder is cheap as well.

We get it, you don't see Sam as the long term answer.

What I'm saying is that IF the Eagles sign him to a big long term deal, that means that in THEIR MINDS (I know, I know, not yours) they see him as the long term guy at QB.  If you have your long term starter signed, and have Chase signed as your backup, then you don't waste your 2nd pick on a QB.  I wouldn't use either 3rd round pick on a qb and have three 'potential starters" when you drop that kind of money on Sam.  Too many other holes on this team that could be filled with those picks.

OOOOFFFF.

If I were Sam, no way I'd sign for that. That would be insulting even as a starting point.

Ya.  Sam's 25 was also kind of insulting.  It seems like he's going to probably land right around 17-18
Meh...25 was certainly high, but in today's market, I'd hardly call it insulting. 20 seems like the number for a decent young starter. Given injury history and relatively limited periods of high production, an incentive laden deal at 17-18 would make sense.

I think if they viewed him much more then 15, they'd just franchise him.  makes sense now why they don't want to franchise him - they've got 15 mil as the high end of what they are willing to pay.

Yea so why spend money on a veteran 3rd string? They average close to $3m a year while a rookie will get about $500k. I know small potatoes but saving a couple bucks and grooming a QB to eventually be a backup or trade able.
