Not sure why it's even a question in terms of what's better for us. 

1.  Cowboys winning gives us a better shot at a win in week 17 (they'll have 1st locked up by then hopefully)
2.  Minny loss helps us make playoffs as its a team technically above us for a wild card spot
3.  Minny loss gives us a higher first round pick.

I know its tough, but in terms of whats better for OUR TEAM, Dallas win helps us a lot more.

True I was only thinking about #3 

Just goes against everything I believe in to want the Cowboys to win.

Agrree with all but the bolded. There's no excuse for using your second challenge to make a 2nd and 8 a 2nd and 10 with more than a quarter to play. Simply ridiculous use of the challenge with so little to gain from it. How do you know the offense wouldn't have called a different play and NOT converted from 8 yards when they succesfully did from 10?

At least Doug owned up to that mistake. Rare for an HC to do that. I want the guy to succeed and he's actually a likable dude (which shouldn't necessarily be important but it helps). 

If if I were the HC, kicking off is the emotionally charged thing to do and I understand it but logically with hindsight, it was not a great decision.

As I stated above.  Had we stopped them or that 2 yards was a difference between them making/attempting a FG or not no one would have had an issue.  I'm not saying it was the "right" decision but it's being discussed far too much IMO

Hindsight makes the decision fine. We didn't need the time out or the challenge. That challenge didn't have an impact on the game in any way.

On Thanksgiving when the Cowgirls were playing the Redskins my father-in-law noted that we had to root for the Cowgirls...sorry but I'm physically unable to do that.

Yes, it's better for us if they win. But I'm not rooting for them.

There's a difference.

call it what you want to call it.  If it makes you feel better to cheer against washington when they had the ball and then change the channel when Dallas had the ball then that's fine.  Either way we wanted them to win.  And want them to win again next week.

Hindsight is immaterial to the validity of a decision. While true it ended up NOT mattering, that fact is immaterial.

That said...I agree it's been talked about too much.

They're at home and both teams are struggling. 1.5 at home usually means they think the away team has an edge. Home field accounts for 3 pts usually in the line for those worried about that kind of thing. 

I'd be happy with just winning for a change.

 
I believe Philly puts it together this week. Cincy's a train wreck and Phillys WRs are playing better. Pederson wants to redeem a couple of bad decisions last week, I feel.

We've struggled on the road, but vs:  Dallas, Wash, NYG, Seattle, Detroit.   5 of the 6 NFC playoff teams (and all pretty close games).  Cinci is much different and I think Schwarz's hit or miss defense gets it together this week.

to be honest, obious answer to me is #3. we gave up a lot to move 6-7 slots last year. give me the better pick over a loss in the 1st round anyday

if this was year 2 or 3 of Doug and Carson, then maybe i'd be more inclined to be happy making the playoffs. but they have time to get there

yeah, the "losing on the road" stuff is better mid-week fun talk, then i think actually makes that big of an impact. at least for this team

That's what's great about this year though.  Even if we do better, it doesn't hurt our 1st round pick.  Us losing in the first round or losing the rest of the games this season gives us the same 1st round pick.  I think the wins and experience of winning is more valuable at this point then a slightly higher pick in the 2nd round.

Not that this matters anyway. This team has demonstrated that no matter who is coaching, they will win games even when the fanbase wants them to lose to improve draft position LOL.

Win today and redeem against Washington next week and its a whole new outlook lads!

 
I dreamed about the game last night. The final score was 31-30 but I woke up before it was revealed who had the 31.

I also dreamed we had Nick Foles back at QB and got shut out by the Rams.

well, i was referring to Vikings losing and giving us a better 1st rounder, if i had to choose between Eagles winning every game for the rest of the year or Vikings lose it would be tough. but yeah, i'd love both

 
watching the 1st half of this Cincy game, no way am i hopeful or want the Eagles to try and make the playoffs this year. Maybe worn down on the road after a Monday night game, but no phase of this team looks good

The defense is pathetic.  They can't cover at all.  Run d is good, but our corners are complete ####.  Letting rookies get wide open on 3rd and long.

 
Defense was pretty good early on. Don't know if that was having heart or better scheme or both. Either way, teams figured them out quick. Shame really.  The turning point of the season was that Dallas fake punt for a first down. Been rough ever since even with the Atl and Minn wins.

 
This is atrocious. If I hear one more person handwringing over losing Schwartz I'll vomit. This game should put a rest to that. He ain't going anywhere.

 
:lmao:   i'm just trying to figure out what the difference is between this game, and the Bucs and Lions (i think it was Det) games from last year. Man i hope the team isn't just giving up. doesn't look like it, but that might be better then having this much of a discrepancy in talent from the 3 win Bengals

 
another possible positive is that all the blame for this won't fall on Agholar. Really seems like the Eagles have 4-5 good WR2.5s (not quite 2's, but not as horrible as 3s either). Maybe this helps to build a little confidence in Nelson and he can keep going in the right direction so we can find out if there is potentially in him or not

are you watching this game? DO you not think it would be a travesty, and could very well effect the psyche of the whole team, not just Agholar. You think it is healthy for them to make the playoffs and lose 40-0? I know they aren't as bad as they are today, but in all honesty i don't see any benefit to them making the playoffs. Yes a team can peak at the right time and catch some breaks, but you need to have some strengths on your team to do that

So you're actually hoping that they don't try next week?

EDT:  And yes, I think it would be better for the psyche of the team to rip off a great end to the season and lose 40-0 in the playoffs than to lose out the rest of the year and miss the playoffs.  I don't see how that's much of a question.

Yea I mean if they somehow turned it around, won 4 straight and that was enough to get in, I'd be more than happy.

Just don't think that'll happen.

nothing at all to do with trying. I expect them to try every time they are on the field. If they are trying and win out it isn't like i would be dissapointed that they ended the season with a bunch of wins. I just think realistically speaking, if you think this team will be this wonderful Cinderella story in the playoffs i hate to say you are setting up to be letdown again. 

and maybe where we disagree is that i think that is alright. Making the playoffs is great, Andy did it a bunch of times. I want a team that looks like they have a chance in any game. With this team, i am not positive that they do. Injuries and other issues are a big reason

Was jsut disputing your point that it would be WORSE for this team to make the playoffs then to make it, and that you're hoping we don't make the playoffs.

Winning out doesn't really hurt us long term (again, I don't think its going to happen).  But still going to hope we win next week.  If we had our own first rounder then MAYBE it might be different. 

 
Wentz hasn't looked good lately.  He does make some great plays/throws though occasionally so it's not like he doesn't have the talent to be an amazing qb.  Just hope they work a lot on his mechanics next year.  Seems like every week we're saying how he throws the ball too high.  From one of best to one of the worst in terms of turnovers.  Really has been a tale of two seasons for us.

The penalties haven't helped either. 

It keeps me grounded knowing a guy like Manning threw 28 picks his rookie season and he had Harrison and Faulk I believe. 

Im sure he'll have better mechanics and weapons next season.

so higher picks in most of the rounds won't help the team? i would argue a higher 2nd and 3rd round pick could help the team get some better depth at key positions. but again, if they win every game going forward that is fine. I just think the team could benefit from adding more talent

Ya without getting too much into it I think the positives from a good finish would be better once you leave the 1st round.  Either way this might be one of the only times that we're toast but winning doesn't hurt our first round pick so I'll happily cheer for them the rest of the way. 

Maybe the road thing really is a curse for us.  At least Baltimore is our only road game left.  Still really want to beat Wash/NYG/Dallas

Definitely would, look at how we missed Russell Wilson by a few picks where Fat Andy wanted him bad.
