Official 2016 Pittsburgh Steelers Thread (3 Viewers)

Pretty sure the play was going to AB no matter what. It was intended for AB to go deeper but the DB's played it perfectly and cut his path shorter. If the obvious facemask had been called the clock would have stopped but glad it wasn't needed.
Agreed about the play being for AB; however, Ben has to recognize he isn't getting into the EZ & throw the ball away-can't risk AB not getting in there & the clock running out.

AB tied Marvin's record of 4 consecutive 100 catch seasons.

If anyone told me that the Steelers would score 21 4th quarter points against the Ravens D to win the game, I would have said "Are you daft, man?"

The score happened with 9 seconds. If Brown doesn't get in, the Steelers could have spiked the ball if they were quick enough. Glad we didn't have to test their speed skills in liking up. Nine seconds seems tight, even with home cooking from the clock manager.
That's a big if.  If he doesn't break the plane; another 2-3 seconds runs off while he tries to, the Ravens try to lay on Brown, the other players have to get lined up, & they have to snap & spike the ball in 6-7 seconds.  Not a given.

Antonio Brown is awesome, but when it comes to GOAT talk and where he belongs there, the fact that he has never led the league in touchdown catches and has only led in receiving yards once so far will not help his cause (I don't consider receptions that important of a stat, especially since receptions are way up across the board nowadays), and he isn't likely to lead in either again this year.  Looking at other greats of recent years, Moss led the league in TD receptions five times; Owens did it three times; Harrison did it once, while leading in receiving yards twice. His yards per catch is pretty low compared to the other all-time great WRs as well (13.3 vs 15.6 for Moss and 14.8 for Owens).  Not even bringing Rice into this, since he is far and away the best ever.  Don't get me wrong, Brown is the best WR in football right now (Beckham is arguably as good, but needs to work on his emotions first before he can be the best), but he has some work to do to get into that "Best ever after Jerry Rice" conversation.

So Pitt is the 3 seed no matter what...when is it decided which game is theirs the 7th or 8th?
won't know until the networks choose their games at the end of next weekend.

Fox has the Sunday 4:30 game, which I'm sure will be the Giants.  Any Houston matchup is going to 4:30 on Saturday, I have to assume (especially KC).

If the Steelers are playing Miami, I would guess it would be 1:00 on Sunday.

Although Antonio's drive to the goal line is what everyone will (and should) remember from that last drive, I hope that people will also remember  Eli's leap in the air a few plays earlier. That was an incredible grab.
Ayers was an unsung hero too.  Drew the big pass interference that started the comeback, had a key reception and made a great block on LeVeon's TD run.

A little surprised that Bell won the team MVP considering he missed 3 games due to suspension but it is hard to argue with his on the field performance this season.

I think the Rookie of the Year award should probably go to Sean Davis but Artie Burns and Javon Hargrave certainly deserve consideration.

I am guessing the AFC seeds go:  1) NE   2) OAK   3) PIT   4) HOU   5) KC   6) MIA .

Wildcard:
Steelers over Dolphins
Chiefs over Texans

Divisional:
Steelers over Raiders in Oakland
Chiefs upset Patriots in New England

This would set up a rematch with the Chiefs at Heinz, which would be best case scenario (I suppose Texans coming to Heinz would be better but can't see them beating KC and NE).

That leaping catch by Eli was reminiscent of Swanny back in the dynasty years. A thing of beauty.

Terry Bradshaw is a dip ####. I can't think of a player who has done more for an organization that is liked less by that same organization and it's fans then Terry Bradshaw and it's really all because of him and his antics.

Going to Sunday's game and want to watch all the 4:00 games.  Is Bettis grill a good option or will be it be insanely crowded?  Other good options?

I am thinking 50-50 split for touches at rb this week vs. Browns for DeAngelo & Fitz.
I was thinking more 60-40 favoring Williams, but would like more info from PIT homers.

Btw...Terry Bradshaw was a GREAT QB in the Steel Curtain days under Chuck Noll. They were a dynasty!

Oh, one more thing. I have PIT slated in for D/ST this week against CLE and RGIII. I know players will be rested, but I still believe whomever plays will play with heart and cause frustration and turnovers, perhaps a pick 6? :) Thoughts?

I am stuck playing for a week 17 title this weekend in a dynasty league.  I am benching the Broncos D for Steelers against the Browns.

Yes he was. The league was of course quite different then. Bradshaw was fortunate to play with that all time great defense.  In many ways, he was unspectacular but 4 rings and those AFC Central titles got him into HOF.

Yes,thoughts Steeler Homers? What are you hearing? "We are going to play to win" or "We are going to give some of these guys a chance to play". Has anyone said "There is no

f!@#ing way we're going to go into the playoffs off a loss to f!@#ing CLEVELAND!" Do you get the sense they will be playing to win or playing to just get the last game out of the way?

playing to win but without Ben, Bell and Brown + Pouncey and a few others I would think

Well, it's a tougher road to hoe now. Get past Miami and it's a trip to Arrowhead. Depleted Oakland or a horrible Houston team the only teams that are going to have a shot at NE before the AFCC. At Arrowhead and at Foxborough is a really tough avenue to the big game.

That was a fun game! Win or lose didn't matter but still wanted a win. Ton of young guys playing and stepping up. Landry proving once again he's a capable backup but not a long term replacement/option. Future looks bright!

Agreed but we need to get past Miami first.  Let's hope that we have to worry about going to Kansas City.

Tough road for the Steelers but if they can beat Miami at home and then KC on the road, I think they could go toe to toe with the Patriots.  Not to mention that would be 9 wins in a row.

Interesting stat I noticed last week:

When the Steelers scored at least 24 points this season, theyre 11-1 (the only loss was to Dallas, 35-30).

In their other 4 losses, they scored 3, 14, 15, and 16. So 24 is the magic number for them.

Also, this is the first playoff game that will feature the 3 killer Bs. And the temp will be in the low 20s in Pittsburgh this weekend,

Just some tasty tidbits for ya.

It will be a pleasure never hearing Pac Man Jones after a Steelers/Bengals game anymore. Wish it was Burfict though.
Arrested for multiple charges, including assault, but they are misdemeanors.  With the NFL's inconsistent suspension policies it is impossible to predict how many, if any, games he will miss.

Inconsistent but not friendly to repeat offenders. He also spit on a nurse. If that nurse is female, I doubt we see him next year. I'm not even sure that the Bungles are low enough to keep him around. I've been wrong before though.

The spitting is a felony. He "vehemently denies" any of it happened though. Have a feeling everything in the jail was recorded.

It really, really sucks that KC won and Oakland lost, but I still have confidence that we can beat Miami and KC, especially if we get Tuitt back.

As I said earlier, let's beat Miami and worry about KC later.  The stars are aligned for a Steelers victory this week but Miami isn't going to roll over.

Have tickets to the game!  This will be my first time going to an NFL game since Dec 2002 when we lost to the Texans despite giving up 47 yards of total offense.       :oldunsure:

Oh dear God. I remember that game well. I even remember where I watched it - the world's largest TGI Friday's (on International Drive in Orlando, now a Mango's.) I had just moved to Florida, still had no job and getting hammered on a Sunday was par for the course. I got destroyed that afternoon/evening. I was so plastered that some kid threw an egg at me from a moving car, hit me dead in the chest, and I had no idea it had happened until my wife told me later. Covered with yolk and clueless.

Still the most bewildering loss of my life as a Steelers fan. I'll never forget that game.

I was also at that game.  What a miserable afternoon that was.  We had about 10x the offense the Texans had and still lost by 18.

Ill be in section 101 on Sunday.  Dress warm, it is going to be damn cold

  great ####### story

Yeah 18 degrees?  This is why I prefer to watch games in the comfort of my home.

Ugh, don't ever bring up that game again.   I'd mostly forgotten about it
I still found last year's 23-20 loss to Baltimore in the Vick game much more frustrating.  That Texans game was preposterously inexplicable.  Plus, I didn't get ossified drunk after the Ravens game, so it was able to settle in more effectively.

The Mike Vick Baltimore game REALLY pissed me off.

You know, I don't think we should be bringing these abominations up for discussion this week.   It could be bringing on some bad karma

Looks like Miami may not be as short handed on Sunday as expected:

DAVIE–Originally projected to miss nine of their intended starters against the Steelers this weekend, the Dolphins might not be in quite that bad of shape.

Miami had linebacker Jelani Jenkins in the portion of today’s practice that was open to the media, marking his second straight day of work after missing the past two games with a knee injury. Jenkins was optimistic about playing when he talked Wednesday.

The Dolphins hoped to get No. 1 cornerback Byron Maxwell back for practice today, but he wasn’t available. Maxwell has been out since injuring his ankle in the Dec. 17 game at the Jets.

Safety Bacarri Rambo, a backup-turned-starter, was a surprise absence Wednesday because of a chest injury. He was back today.

Miami ruled out starting quarterback Ryan Tannehill (sprained ACL and MCL) early in the day, according to a league source, and was merely an observer at this afternoon’s practice. He wore a brace on his left knee while he watched Matt Moore and the other quarterbacks go through individual drills.

Miami’s banged up offensive line is intact, minus Mike Pouncey on Injures Reserve. Backup guard Kraig Urbik remains the starting center.
