It didn't matter, but that last goal might have been offsides, no?
He did not cover himself in glory this WC. A few shining moments, but not nearly enough for a player of his caliber.Poor Messi. Surrounded by idiots.
No, Kun was the 2nd player and the guy that was maybe offside didn’t interfere in the play.It didn't matter, but that last goal might have been offsides, no?
Fazio? It looked like #6 had a free header if the other player had left the ball to him.
Yeah. I rewatched that a few times and the way he was moving his head it was going wide anyways.
Yep. Second time Argentina has done something like that in the final minutes of the game. This one was still within reach though. Total moron playAmen. Would have sent Otamendi off for that.
Had they played the Game 3 front line in the other 3 games, they might still have been knocked out this round but I think it would have been a different story for Messi. I'm just dumbfounded by the way they approached this tournament tactically. He did not cover himself in glory this WC. A few shining moments, but not nearly enough for a player of his caliber.
You can say that going back to qualifications - a team with that much talent should not struggle as much as they do.Had they played the Game 3 front line in the other 3 games, they might still have been knocked out this round but I think it would have been a different story for Messi. I'm just dumbfounded by the way they approched this tournament tactically.
I've admitted I'm a newbie and really only go on what I see, so I welcome a 'better' perspective on Messi, though it won't negate the disdain I have for him thanks to my BIL's soccer snobbery; the dude lives in the Atlanta suburbs and seems pretty nonplussed about what their MLS team is doing, because his still looks down his nose at American soccer.oh great, this is where all the Soccer newbs come in with their "Messi is overrated" hot takes.![]()
If I were a fan this would be my questionHad they played the Game 3 front line in the other 3 games, they might still have been knocked out this round but I think it would have been a different story for Messi. I'm just dumbfounded by the way they approached this tournament tactically.
All of that talent are forwards that are too similar to each other to all play together. The defense and midfield are terrible. You can say that going back to qualifications - a team with that much talent should not struggle as much as they do.Had they played the Game 3 front line in the other 3 games, they might still have been knocked out this round but I think it would have been a different story for Messi. Makes me wonder if the players have too much control.
If you want I can go punch him - PM me the address.I've admitted I'm a newbie and really only go on what I see, so I welcome a 'better' perspective on Messi, though it won't negate the disdain I have for him thanks to my BIL's soccer snobbery; the dude lives in the Atlanta suburbs and seems pretty nonplussed about what their MLS team is doing, because his still looks down his nose at American soccer.

His son is a cop; I would fear retribution. If you want I can go punch him - PM me the address.
You mean the worst national FA in the world didn't hire the right guy? They hired a manager who likes to press high to run a team with many older players, and then Sampaoli couldn't figure out a decent lineup until the final match of the group stage, which he promptly abandoned in the next match.Had they played the Game 3 front line in the other 3 games, they might still have been knocked out this round but I think it would have been a different story for Messi. I'm just dumbfounded by the way they approached this tournament tactically.

You're allowed to dislike players, but if you think Messi lives and dies by the ref's whistle then you seriously need to actually watch more soccer. It's a very bad take. In a sport full of flopping and embellishment you really never see it from him.I've admitted I'm a newbie and really only go on what I see, so I welcome a 'better' perspective on Messi, though it won't negate the disdain I have for him thanks to my BIL's soccer snobbery; the dude lives in the Atlanta suburbs and seems pretty nonplussed about what their MLS team is doing, because his still looks down his nose at American soccer.
I turned it off, what is the context?Rob Stone - “the big three”
who else we talking about here? For the love of god please don’t say Harry Kane.
I'm inclined to look for a "more red cards or goals" prop bet.I wouldn't be surprised if that game was our only goals in regulation of the day![]()
Talking about a big 3 with CR and Messi. I forgot about Neymar but honestly I don’t consider him in the league either way. He, Kane and some others are a tier below unless they prove it for much longer.I turned it off, what is the context?
To be fair, that 'foul' in the first half was the easiest I've ever seen him go down. You're allowed to dislike players, but if you think Messi lives and dies by the ref's whistle then you seriously need to actually watch more soccer. It's a very bad take. In a sport full of flopping and embellishment you really never see it from him.
Weird they're still talking about Salah after Egypt is out.Rob Stone - “the big three”
who else we talking about here? For the love of god please don’t say Harry Kane.
I think Matuidi is out - that’s it.Did France have any players missing the next match?
at Mexico talking about Neymar’s antics. They deserve to go out on one of his flops and then be hit with bags of urine from Brazil fans on their way off the pitch. With one minute of stoppage time left Otamendi drills a ball off the French players head - setting things off. Just colossally stupid and dirty.Didn’t get to watch, what did Argentina do at the end of the game that you guys are talking about as far as wasting time?
Neymar will - already has the hype.Talking about a big 3 with CR and Messi. I forgot about Neymar but honestly I don’t consider him in the league either way. He, Kane and some others are a tier below unless they prove it for much longer.
ETA - at this stage in their careers - I don’t think either of them will ever get to that level.
It wasn't time wasting - they were chasing a goal. Otamendi kicked a ball into a player on the ground after a foul had been called.Didn’t get to watch, what did Argentina do at the end of the game that you guys are talking about as far as wasting time?
Pogba was fouled and went down. Which was already kind of dumb. But then as Pogba is still on the ground Otamendi drills the ball into his back. France was more than happy to pull out the handbags, and Argentina obliged. Wasted almost two minutes -- ref added one back.Didn’t get to watch, what did Argentina do at the end of the game that you guys are talking about as far as wasting time?
Which was a nice job by the ref IMO. Would have been easy for him to let things go a little longer due to the dust up.Wasted almost two minutes -- ref added one back.
I've heard this term before and I guess I understand it, but is there a cliff's notes history of this term?pull out the handbags
In British slang a fight where the protagonists are unable or unwilling to seriously hurt each other is commonly referred to as a handbag fight, in reference to the way girls fight by hitting each other with their handbags.I've heard this term before and I guess I understand it, but is there a cliff's notes history of this term?
Arguing fouls and getting chippy when they just need to get on with it.Didn’t get to watch, what did Argentina do at the end of the game that you guys are talking about as far as wasting time?
In my unbiased opinion? Hands down, Cenghiz Under.Messi is done with being a contender for the Ballon d'Or. National team performance will weigh him down. I don't know who step up though. Salah will have the same problem - lack of success in the National team.
I like the cut of your jib...at Mexico talking about Neymar’s antics. They deserve to go out on one of his flops and then be hit with bags of urine from Brazil fans on their way off the pitch.
