And, I get that Fox is doing this on the cheap with the US out, but would it have been that expensive to send an announcing team to the stadium for certain matches - like the opening match?

 
Teams with this poor of quality(Saudi) shouldn't be in the World Cup, FIFA needs to re-evaluate the regions.

I can only watch with British accents. ITV has a 7 day free trial worth timing right. Great coverage. Also my streaming service has coverage from about 50 different countries. I should set up a camera for you guys.

The plus side of the FoxSports Go stream being so slow is that my FotMob app alerts of me goals with plenty of time to spare for me to go full screen on my big second sreen to see the goal "live"!

No.  They seem to invite being closed down so they can play mini rondo games all over the field until someone inevitably gives it up in the midfield to a wide open Russian.

The best part of the game comes from JP pronouncing Zhirkov as Jerkoff.

I know it's technically after the wire but I'd be Germany and just to be on the outside I'll stick with Cavani for Golden Boot.

The Saudi's actually look to be fairly good from a technical standpoint, and they can play well in tight spaces.

But, physically, it looks like they are all 6" and 20+ LBs smaller than their Russian counterparts.

Oh I agree whole-heartedly with the new allocation and that it is a World Cup not a Top 48 Cup but adding 16 more teams mostly from the lower-ranked regions will lead to some rough games in that group stage for sure.

The 2nd spot in this group will come down to Russia vs Egypt in the last game.  Russia has to pour it on here since you know Egypt will do the same.

If it works out that Egypt somehow upsets Uruguay and Uruguay needs that last game (and there's a prospect of there being three teams with 6 points in the group Uruguay is gonna put up a ridiculous result on this team).

I don't mind 48 in the finals as much as some do but I think it'll make the two years of qualifying rounds pretty much of a procession in every region except CAF and CONMEBOL

And UEFA.  UEFA is gonna be every bit as rough as it already is since you'll have to finish top-2 in your group to have a chance to qualify.

I assume with 16 spots and 9 groups in UEFA that it would be the 9 group winners and 5 best 2nd place getting in automatically and the other 4 2nd-place teams having to playoff for the last 2 spots.  You'll still have the odd big team from Europe stumble and miss.

I'm not sure if it has been mentioned in here because I've been AFK, but can I request no spoilers in the thread title during the course of the Cup?  I am planning on watching most weekday games on DVR delay.  Hopefully this isn't a problem....

Good start for Russia.  Saudia Arabia sucks but +5 goals is solid.  

Oops, now +5.  Huge to get 2 more goals in final 5 minutes.
