***OFFICIAL 2018 YANKEE THREAD*** Gleyber Day (1 Viewer)

Much more fun team to root for than recent seasons IMO. They give tough ABs, they pitch well, the focus is actually on the games rather than retirement tours. They'll probably still only win in the mid to high 80's at best, but it's not anywhere near the disaster previously thought. And if we can somehow sneak into the playoffs, this bullpen is perfectly built to take us deep.

It was great reading a bunch of stories about Yogi on his 90th birthday. I had no idea that his World Series rings have been stolen and never recovered. That is very sad.

This team is so radically different without Ellsbury. Gardner is a lesser hitter, and without those two hitting .300+ at the top the whole offense is slumping.

Sweep the best team in baseball, lose two in a row to one of the worst. MAKES SENSE
New to baseball?
haha thats baseball Suzyn
:goodposting:
get shut out by Jesse chavez, bomb king Felix. ..oh suzyn
John: Ya juuuuust can't predict this game (forced laughter). So anyway, it'll be a 3-2 to Stephen Drew, CUUUUUTTTTT on and missed strike three! Nope, he fouled it off. He JUST got a piece...no, looks like he missed it. So the Yanks go down in order in the 5th, 1-2-3, and at the end of four and a half...I'm sorry, it's the second out. Ya know, I looked at my scorecard and I had written in a K for Drew already. But, heh heh, he hadn't struck out a 'tall.

Suzyn: It's so shawking to see Stephen Drew struggling so baaadly like this. He's the cawnsummate pro, just goes about his business day in day out, nevuh complains. One of the nicest guys yaw'll meet, and I'd say one of the tawp 10 best second basemen in the american league east. They haven't missed Cano one bit.

John: So anyway, Drew walks. And that'll bring up Gregorius, who speaking of replacing players he has just done a MARVELOUS job replacing Ellll CAPITAN...

Rodgers need to go to AAA. But this new kid they sprinted through the minors looks legit. What sick movement on his breaking ball. Good confidence for a kid too.

Heading to my first game of the season... Anyone ever been to the Field MVP Lounge? We have access, which is pretty good considering the thunderstorms rolling through.

CC is such a fat tub of lard. Guy is completely useless. They should just give him $50M to get ####### lost.

On the cool story front, the stadium prob had about 3-4,000 people left by the top of the 9th last night due to a rain delay and it already being 12am. Nick Rumbelow who was just called up comes into the game, we are sitting in section 116, 7 rows from the dugout. Yankees are now losing to the ####### Phillies and there is no reason for any of the few thousand people left to be excited about much. All of the sudden this woman comes running down to the front of our section screaming "NICK NICK NICK, I love you, go Nick go!!!" This woman turned out to be his mom watching him right after he gets called up. Feel good story, briefly.

He then got shelled

I did feel bad for him/her afterwards. She was yelling "Don't worry, you'll get them next time!".

It gets tiresome listening to Girardi put a happy face on everything. Today, he told Francesa that he's got an optimistic outlook for Sabathia.

Of course.

To those who saw Nova's game: was he as sharp as his stat line suggests?

He'd be a welcome #3 or #4 down the line, if Girardi could stomach shelving Sabathia into the bullpen.

What is the name of the Yankee announcer who said "Mark Teixiera just sent a text message to the second deck"?

Is he for real?
John Sterling. Born with one of the best voices of his era, and he ruins it by crapping all over his own words. Used to be awesome back in the 90's, then became all schtick. Pretty much awful now

Watching the 30 for 30 on Steinbrenner, what an amazing owner. I bet NY fans wish he had bought the Knicks, dude got #### done.

"We hate the new Yankee Stadium. The new Yankee Stadium was built for people that aren't true fans. The true fans don't want a sushi bar, and an art gallery, and a Hard Rock Cafe."

"I just spent $100 on four sandwiches and four drinks."

So it was built for the ilk of Fantasycuse42. Shameful really.

I've been to the old and new, the new is not a top 10 baseball stadium. Really a shame.

I unfortunately agree with this. When I first went there, it "looked" like the same view I had at the old stadium and I was psyched about how it all looked. Didn't anticipate how many seats would be empty during the game due to the martini bar, and the rooftop deck, and the steakhouse, etc, etc. People would rather pay a ton of money and watch the game on a TV screen.

The sightlines are great from the concourses, so a lot of times people can still see the game while they're out of their seats. But all that does is keep people out of their seats. Old place, the only way you could see the game is by being in your seats. Was a much more fun atmosphere.

Another problem wih Yankee Stadium is it became so expensive that people can only afford one game a year. So when they go they want to feel the whole experience. That means seeing the sights of the stadium, walking around taking pics, eating different things, and maybe watching a few innings.
