***Official 2020 Michigan Football*** (4 Viewers)

UM did land my son's buddy and baseball teammate for 8+ years... Kicker Jake Moody.  Dude nailed something like 10 50+ yarders in his HS career.  Solid kid.

Devastating recruiting losses today.  Nicholas Petit-Frere was on the radar for 2 years and went to OSU after one visit.  Otis Reese, as I predicted, went to Georgia and man that is a beast of a haul for Georgia.  We did get Ronnie Bell, 3* WR, he was a basketball commit at Missouri State.  There are reports that Jim McElwain will join the staff in place of the departed Dan Enos.

The season could ride with the decision by the NCAA on Shea Patterson.  Peters may improve, but with Patterson's experience and mobility, they may be able to hide some deficiencies.  Overall it's just a bad day in recruiting.  Georgia got as many 5*'s as Michigan got 4*'s with 7.
I didn't really expect any outcome other than what happened.  Sucks, but it's time to get to work.

Anyone watch the Amazon Prime series?  Been out of the loop I guess.  Didn't even know about it until I was looking for a movie for the kids last night

Great news -

An agreement has been reached among the NCAA, Michigan and Ole Miss, and with the completion of some paperwork, Patterson will be eligible to play this fall -- per Detroit News source

Big weekend haul.

4* DT Mazi Smith

4* RB Zach Charbonnet - He might end up a 5*

3* TE Erick All

3* S Joey Velazquez - Plays Football and Baseball

3* (2020) Andre Seldon - Ran 4.3 at Michigan's camp

3* CB DJ Turner - is likely to commit today.  Has an impressive list of colleges recruiting him.

I can't help but wonder what affect the announcement that Patterson would be available to play immediately has had on this onslaughts of commits.

I'm sorta shocked in that he actually announced it.  He usually likes to have fun with the press on things like this.  By all accounts this Milton kid is the real deal.  I actually met him early in the summer when he was home for a weekend.  I was impressed with how grounded he was.

More terrible news. Tarik Black hurt his foot. Bruce Feldman is reporting its broken and he will be out a long time.

####.

I don't know what the hell that was.  The o-line is going to be an issue it appears.  So many stupid, unforced, undisciplined mistakes.  I have no idea how they were still in it at the end.  Thank God for the defense.  They will keep this team in all their games.  They put the clamps down in the second half.  It was just a crappy game all around for everyone.  They need to get right quickly.  The entire division sand OSU was an embarrassment this week.  There goes "best division in college football".

They were a couple plays away from winning that game somehow.  Just an awful performance.  Botched hold on FG, taking a sack to get out of FG range, stupid penalties, that horrific QB draw on 3rd and 17.  It can only get better right???........

It happened last year, but you'd think they wouldn't have to start all over at square one.  I was sort of hoping they'd pick up where they left off.  This line regressed back to the way they started last year.

True.  That's been an issue for ..as long as I can remember.  ND opens with a series of well-executed, scripted plays.  We open with six running plays ...and then run a number of those passing plays to a WR who drops back from the line of scrimmage with hopes that the other WRs will open a big lane for him.  Patterson looked quite good, I thought, with a nice touch on (most of) his throws.  But that o-line gave him no opportunity to sit in the pocket and get a rhythm.  Defense looked good, once they realized that they couldn't survive on their press clippings.

There's only so much you can do when your offensive line is so horrible. I mean -that's the big issue with this team. The offensive line is pathetic. The tackles turned in a HORRID performance. As much of a blowout as this game seemed, it was only a 1 score game. If the tackles are average, M likely wins.

But this is a HUGE problem and has been for ... a lot of years. And its not going to get fixed this year. So M is likely looking at another 8-5 season.

Lots of commits these past two days.

4* Mike Morris SDE

4* Giles Jackson WR/RB

2020 Nick Patterson (brother of Shea) TE 3*

Nebraska is horrible, but Michigan looked pretty damn good yesterday.
I am hopeful that what I am seeing is improvement and not just the competition they are playing.  They seem to be "getting it", but it's so freakin' hard to tell.  After watching ND in their follow up games I continue to wonder how this team lost to them...annoying.

Really wish that M had a game or two before the ND game.  Patterson looking much more comfortable and Jones seems to have taken the next step as a WR and in the return game.

Um...yeah, so that happened.  I was hopeful this team would win 2 of the 3 and I'd accept 1 of the three if they competed in all of them.  I am pleasantly surprised.  I can't remember the last time I saw a Michigan Oline play the way this one's been playing.
