*** Official 2022 PGA Tour Thread - Memorial Tournament, LIV list leaked- It's all Paulina's Fault **** (2 Viewers)

A buddy in Vancouver got Thomas at 30-1 last night.  I had no idea it would be that high.  I figured he'd be way over-bet because of who/what was in front of him, so I never even looked it up.  Bonkers.

What's the story there?

Mini-tour player qualifies for Valspar last year on Monday.  Viral video goes out from PGA showing him calling his dad to tell him he qualified, and breaking down while doing so.  JT saw the video, met him during the tournament, and was inspired to help Big Mike.

"I just felt it was so refreshing and great to see and how genuine his excitement and emotions were,'' Thomas said at Muirfield Village Golf Club. "I don't know Mike. I met him at Valspar. I just went up and said congrats on getting in. It's a great story. I just thought it was awesome because he's been playing the mini-tours for a long time and people now knew who he was because of his story.

"For some reason it hit home to me, and it just was like, this is a dude who's been grinding for a long time and there's a lot of people that are doing that. But I just wanted to help in a little way, and what I'm most happy about is the recognition he has got.''

Neither Thomas nor Visacki would disclose the amount, but Visacki, reached by phone Wednesday, said "it takes a little pressure off me, let's put it like that. I can go out and focus on golf and not worry about some of my bills or other things like that. I can play my game and not put pressure on myself.

"I had no idea what he was going to do. I just thought we were having a normal conversation. I am very grateful for what he did for me.''

CBS jinxed it when they put "Time for a First Time Major Champ" on the screen when the last group was making the turn. Nantz said right away something like "It would be great for a first timer but don't rule out Justin Thomas yet." What a pro.

Anybody know what was with his Dad being inside the ropes, following along?  We were trying to think of Dads or Coaches who were allowed that kind of access and couldn't come up with any.  Even Tiger's old man.  Just curious.

Congrats to JT, what a comeback.

POLO missing some great exposure and ad time with JT wearing Grayson all over the TVs today.

Mito did not make a bad club choice on 18. He hit the same club in round 3.  JT used driver in the playoff. It was a horrible swing and he hit it too far right now too far imo

Tough to watch though

I just meant the guys competing for this PGA. Thomas came up, all the non major winning young guns above him like zalatoris and pariera and Fitz all went backwards. Zalatoris did clutch that putt on 18 but he was over par on the day. I was also intentionally exaggerating which is kind of my thing

Pereira moved up 51 spots in the OWGR after his 3rd place finish, now 49th.

Zalatoris' runner up showing moved him up 16 spots, from 30th to 14th.

JT is now 5th - came to Southern Hills in 9th.

Woods last finished the year #1 in 2013, a year he played 19 events and won 5 times. Since then:

  • 2014 - 32nd
    (9 events played)
  • 2015 - 416th
    (11)
  • 2016 - 652nd
    (1)
  • 2017 - 656th
    (3)
  • 2018 - 13th
    (19 with 1 win)
  • 2019 - 6th
    (14 with 2 wins)
  • 2020 - 41st
    (9)
  • 2021 - 566th
    (0)
  • 2022 - 841st
    (2 events played)

Bones Mackay gets to take home the 18th hole flag for the first time. Phil never let him have it.

After their breakup Phil sent him a couple. Autographed in “comically large letters.”

Anyway, JT said after shooting 74 on Saturday he was in a lousy mood. Said every other time he’s had a Saturday like that he’s gone back to his pissed off. Bones talked to him after the round and reminded him he’s still right there. “Just keep your head in a positive space, be ready to let good things happen.” Did a 180 his mood.

Is there a worse player out there than Beau Hossler? Can't believe this guy plays on tour.

@RichNeedsCoffee: Scott Stallings getting like 84 free relief drops. A bit of exaggeration but got lucky. #CharlesSchwabChallenge

Two doubles, two triples in last 6 holes for Varner. Now in the water on 18. Did somebody tell him I placed a wager on him?

@KylePorterCBS: With 90 minutes to go in the tournament, Sam Burns' chance to win Colonial was at less than 10% according to @datagolf while Harold Varner's was at 25%. Burns made the playoff. Varner missed it by nine.

Threw 10 bucks on burns this morning at 175-1 on fox bet.

Then i saw he was 210-1 on fanduel. So i did what any degenerate gambler would do. "If I like him at 175-1, I love him at 210-1. Double down!!!"
