I doubt Southgate takes the governor off until the last 15-20 minutes.

Sterling has been close to invisible. Kane has been a handful.

Kind of subtle, but the ref letting England stop four or five not-quite-breaks with fouls definitely deserved a cumulative, 'stop that', card by the end of the half.

On the other hand, the ref being reluctant to hand out cards is probably a good thing for the US.

Overall just a well played half by the US. Give me 45 more like that and I'll live with the result, win or lose.

what I like is that Dest doesn't have to fully commit to the overlap- he can just make the run in support as much as anything, providing numbers without leaving them empty in the back.

He's kind of playing the position Berhalter originally envisioned for Adams. Right back in defense and fully committed to the midfield in attack.
