GGG should send in his resignation at HT can't have that much of an ego and not play one of your best players in Reyna. If you weren't going to play him send him home or don't call him up. This squad has been winning in spite of GGG's ineptness do to their talent but it gets shown against better squad. People will bring up England but they always choke. No really striker either. Would've rather put WEAH in at CF had Pulusic and Reyna on the wings Aaronson as the AM and Adams/McKinnie at DM. But our dumb manager can't figure out simple things.

Considering how badly most of the guys are playing, they still have been in great spots and the opportunities have been there.

it's far too slow and far too sloppy to beat any team, let alone a round of 16 team.

credit to the dutch for keeping MMA mostly in check by pinching in. but quicker ball movement would find those acres of space on the right for Dest and Weah who are the only guys on the field for the US who haven't lost their touch.

broken record. the final (and for too many, first) touch has been all wrong.

Well, credit to LvG. Might not have been the easiest call to bunker against the supposedly inferior US, but he diagnosed us exactly right. Swallow your pride, sit back, and crush us on the counter.

We've been so so good right up until the final ball all tournament, and it's been the same today. SO MANY dangerous progressions that lead to absolutely nothing in the end. Our attacking players just haven't been good enough at the money end of the offensive moves. It's disappointing. We have to find a true goal scorer somewhere in the next few years.

Dutch gameplan was on point. They watched our film and played us perfectly. Pack the box and make us do something creative in the final 3rd, which we can't. Our runs feel like "token" runs. No real threat, just a bunch of guys thinking "well I guess I'm supposed to make a run here" so they kind of haphazardly jog a run in a non-threatening position.

They know who our skilled players are and who aren't. They're content to let Zimm, Ream, Jedi dribble 20 yards upfield unmarked. They're not going to peel a defender off someone threatening to get the ball off of their feet. The pass is going to have to come from them. Something downfield and threatening. That's what would draw defenders out to more skilled CB/FB's. But they know they can't make that play, so content to let them just uselessly push forward until they eventually turn around and pass it back, or drop it off sideways to someone 5 yards away and not moving forward.

Yeah. This is a masterclass of coaching + execution. Shows the chasm between what we have and where we need to go. But, we’ve had some chances. Been quite a run so far and let’s see if we can make it a fight.

Agreed. It's so obvious that they'll give Jedi all the space he wants because they know a turnover is coming.

This team actually passes, successfully, in the box. I can count on one hand the number of passes the US has converted in the box for the entire tournament.
I was texting with a friend. one side is professionally clinical, the other side is almost childishly sloppy.

that heat map Andy always posts (born out of a Nagbe meme) is just too accurate.

I would bring in CCV for Jesus and Gio for Musah, moving Weah centrally. Let Jedi and Dest stay that high while giving them a small break in getting back. And one more body on a potential set piece. 2 seems a stretch, but so yhink we could squeeze a goal out of that.

Gregg needs to take a big swing here. Gotta get Gio his moment finally. His ball carrying ability would do wonders here. Maybe put Pulisic up top and tell him to drag VVD's big *** all over the field.

Beng out managed again typical GGG

They need to get Ferreira off and put in Reyna or Aaronson…they’re man marking everyone and need to be overload the backline. They also need to switch the ball faster.

Should've been Weah at CF Pulusic and Reyna or Aaronson on Wings and Reyna/Aaronson at AM. No excuse to not start Reyna other then ego

LFG... it's there for them- somebody has to step up and just have to make it happen and not keep losing the ball.

right now it's Weah or Dest.

Jesus has been bad unfortunately. and in ways he's normally good: in terms of tidiness on the ball and smart incisive runs in the pockets of space between defenders.

There's the difference between our teams. They find a guy at the top of the box and it's a clinical one time finish. We find an open guy at the top of the box and it's hit over the bar. Damn. We're getting chances. Gotta finish.

if this was a viable lineup and gio was able to go 90, not starting this way is inexcusable. Gio is 15 levels above Ferreira and Ferreira being in there allowed the Dutch to play the way they played defensively

You can see right there why the entire Dutch plan centers around strangling McKennie and Musah in the center. When they get a tiny bit of space to work, they create chances.
