I’m rooting for England. I like those blokes. I figure there is some 60 year old over there with no memory of his team winning the cup and that’s enough for me.

This England side is a proper side - fantastic 9 up top. Speed to burn on the wings, Henderson and Rice cleaning up everything in the middle. Shaw and Walker veteran FBs. I’d say the Stones-Maguire-Pickford in the spine of defense is their weakness if you had to pick one.

The fullbacks are doing a great job vs Mbappe/Dembele today.

I’m not one to complain about officiating, but one thing I’ve noticed this WC is how inconsistent the officiating is. Not sure if it’s the international nature of the competition where refs are being pulled from multiple leagues, but as someone who doesn’t watch a ton of non-WC soccer its been pretty obvious

Usually even in a match it evens out and over a tournament but in a knockout it can be a crapshoot and just about every call has gone for France.

I’m more talking from one game to the next the standards for fouls are wildly different. England definitely getting the short end of the stick so far in this match
