McAvoy out for Thursday but getting Quinn Hughes as a replacement - nice
I'm reading quite a bit of a discussion on this one. I believe they would need anther D-man to be unavailable before Hughes can play. Without Mcavoy they still have 6. Reasoning is that Canada got to include Harley only after they were short 2 defensemen (Theodore and then Makar, who was ill) . Harley wasn't even allowed to practice with the team until Makar was officially ruled out. Anyway, I'm sure this will be resolved to everyone's satisfaction. :sarcasm:
Yes - seems to be the case that Hughes can’t practice or play unless someone else is officially out.

Good prop bet for tonight:

"How many game misconducts issued before :10 in the first?"
Not really. They did that last game to set the tone for that game and tonight. I would take the under on misconducts in the full game tonight.
Yeah - I would be surprised if we see any of those types of fireworks. I don’t think either team wants to find themselves short handed with the type of power play unit each has.

They may be fellow countrymen, but every time they’re on together, it’s so obvious how much Messier doesn’t like Subban.

I 👏 the fans.

So nice you applauded twice. I do, too. Good showing so far. I hope they acquit themselves well. It seems like every time we seem poised to drive home nails into our own coffin, we act with temperance and virtue.

Now onward to the game and the important stuff. I've got Canada 5-2, but my heart is hoping for a different result.

Let's go, USA.!!

MacDavid-Stone-Point is the first line for Canada.

Last change for the U.S. this game, if I'm not mistaken. We should have the points lead for the round robin and we're playing in America.

Not a good sign for Hellebuyck to miss that. He was screened and McKinnon can fire it, but has to come up with it.

Only problems with having your goalie be your best player and going several deep at that is that

a) they don't score and nobody ever won a 0-0 game
b) they can't all play, so if your strength is there . . . then you don't get to use it
c) in order to be a difference maker, they have to be something close to perfect

I know those are obvious statements, but I keep hearing about Team USA's goalies and I'm thinking I'd rather have a lethal winger sniper or unreal third-line center.
