*** Official 2024-25 NHL, Playoff talk... Nothing better *** (2 Viewers)

Only problem with having your goalie be your best player and going several deep at that is that

a) they don't score and nobody ever won a 0-0 game
b) they can't all play, so if your strength is there . . . then you don't get to use it
c) in order to be a difference maker, they have to be something close to perfect

I know those are obvious statements, but I keep hearing about Team USA's goalies and I'm thinking I'd rather have a lethal winger sniper or unreal third-line center.
This is what we Rangers fans understand with Shesterkin back there - too much overreliance on him.

IF Crosby can't shoot...what's the point of him being out there? I get the whole "hockey players are tougher than every other athlete combined" mantra that permeates from their fandom....but if he can't shoot; he is still that much better than the next guy behind him on the roster?

That's i guess one upside of this tourney. People that know nothing about hockey can chime in.

Binnington sliding all over the place out there. USA needs to go side to side with that puck and they got him.

The skill in this game is just insane. But at the same time the discipline by the other team to neutralize that skill is just as insane.

This is some incredible hockey.
It’s interesting how many of the top stars are being neutralized - has allowed less household names like Slavin, Larkin, Bennett and Werenski get recognized and make names for themselves.

Just like the playoffs.

I’ve watched Slavin a good amount in the past - always has been an under appreciated rock back there, but he’s reached a new level in this tournament.
