Only problem with having your goalie be your best player and going several deep at that is that

a) they don't score and nobody ever won a 0-0 game
b) they can't all play, so if your strength is there . . . then you don't get to use it
c) in order to be a difference maker, they have to be something close to perfect

I know those are obvious statements, but I keep hearing about Team USA's goalies and I'm thinking I'd rather have a lethal winger sniper or unreal third-line center.

This is what we Rangers fans understand with Shesterkin back there - too much overreliance on him.

It would be different if the initial shots were long-range, but they're right on his crease to begin with. Their first shot is in tight. Not much you can do when that's the case and the other guys are jamming the net.

You’ve got among the fastest, most skilled guys in the game up and down the rosters - got to get the puck off quickly.

Still have their place but snapping a wrister is more deceptive/accurate, and with flex of today’s sticks almost as hard as slapshots of yore.

I’ve watched Slavin a good amount in the past - always has been an under appreciated rock back there, but he’s reached a new level in this tournament.
