*** Official 2024-25 NHL, Playoff talk... Nothing better *** (3 Viewers)

Gonna be a tough series.

Bounce back win tomorrow night.

We stopped skating after we got that 3-1 lead.

I did like how we came out in OT and then that horrendous penalty on Nosek with under 2 mins in the first OT was brutal.

It’s going to be a great series. We are seeing the best two teams again and both are better than they were last season.

Onto game 2.
The Panthers were 31-0 under Maurice in the playoffs when leading after 2 periods prior to Game 1.
I just don’t think McDavid and Draisaitl, etc. will be denied this year. There was a sideways glance between McDavid and Draisaitl on the bench at the end of Game 1 in the Dallas series. No stick breaking or screaming, just a glance that showed they were pissed off and then they kicked it into another gear.

The passes on that OT goal were amazing.
Nuge to Bouchard to Nuge to Perry to McDavid over to Draisaitl and it’s in the net. They just capitalized on the Panthers aggressive PK.
Now you are under estimating this Panthers team.

Let’s see what happens tonight.
Not sure where I'm underestimated the Panthers. You were saying the Panthers were going to repeat as SC champs earlier in the thread. So I can't state a strong belief in my team?

The series is far from over. I just can't see the Oilers being denied the Cup this year.
State away.

It’s on!!!!

That Dallas job is going to be a prime hiring. Honestly, wouldn't surprise me if Laviolette ends up there.
Team is pretty loaded. You have Benn and Duchene coming off the books and quite a bit of cap room. Very good defense, elite gk and solid offense.
Been a lot of chatter about them moving Robertson in the offseason as well and he'll bring in a massive return. They do probably need to move him as they may not have the cap room to keep him being that they just extended Wyatt Johnston at a bigger number and Harley is coming up soon.
Oh, and the are in a tax free state!

Game one of the finals was sweet. Very clear that these two teams are cream of the crop. They are fast, hit everything, attack, for a neutral it's incredible hockey.
I hope Dallas doesn't go the retread route with a Laviolette, Torts, etc. and gives someone like Steve Ott a chance to be HC.
I would be very surprised if it’s not a Laviolette/Torts/Gallant type as opposed to a younger inexperienced upstart. The team has a lot of pieces in place and doubt they’ll want someone to learn on the job.

He was shoved right into Skinner.

Bennett did absolutely nothing.
Oh, get out of here with that. He feels someone make the smallest contact and he goes down like George Michael in a public restroom, and somehow always manages to land right on the goalie. Maybe he has an inner ear infection and no sense of balance, but we all know better. Including you.

Hahaha and they all just gave their opinions it wasn’t

And last nights they thought was yet it was challenged and not overturned.

Ok man.

It was a make up call for game 1. Plain and simple.

So much for refs putting their whistles in their pockets as the playoffs deepen. Calling just about everything tonight.

Any more visits to the plastic surgeon and Gretz is gonna get cast on the Real Housewives of Orange County.

That family is making someone a fortune.

From an entertainment perspective, that first period was horrible. Absolutely no flow at all thanks to the 7 penalties. Not that I blame the refs (well, sort of) but it was just not good hockey. Second period Florida took over. Didn't watch the 3rd but looks like Edmonton had a group meltdown. Personally thought that 3 of the Oiler penalties could have also included embellishment calls. The crosscheck against Kane in front of Bobrovsky , Bob himself on that light bump from Arvidsson and the crosscheck against Nurse in the corner. All 3 of these saw BAFTA level award performances from the Panthers. Regardless, the Oil were not a well run machine last night, anyway, McDavid had absolutely nothing going his way. Hopefully, Edmonton regroups for Thursday. It'll be tough, as we've seen once the Panthers get rolling they are hard to stop.

Hate to say it, but the Panthers are in the Oilers' heads. This looked like an all time great SCF after the 1st 2 games. Now it will be over in 5.
I had so much belief and hope for the Oilers throughout the season and the first 3 rounds of the playoffs.
Now, stick a fork in them, they're done.

Screw the NHL for all these GD days off!
The game is on now.

Should they be playing back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back?

(fingers crossed it goes 7)
Fri...mon...thu. isn't exactly back-to-back-to-back. An extra day off when then aren't even traveling is excessive imo. If we are lucky enought to get 7 games it'll be 22 days from the end of the conf final.

Yeah, I'm sure we all wish it would end sooner.

Maybe they should play one game a week then so we get out money's worth.
