**Official 2025 Denver Bronco thread** (2 Viewers)

Denver needs to trade for Chris Olave.
Not a huge fan of this idea

1) Olave is going to need a big $ extension almost immediately. I'd rather save the cash for guys who've earned it with their play (e.g. Dobbins, JFM, Tillman, Strnad)

2) Payton's offense is too complex for a new WR to just step in mid-season and make an impact w/o messing up the rhythm

3) 2nd rounder IMO is way too much to give up for someone w/ Olave's concussion history

4) Payton's WRs are expected to be good blockers. The two blocks from Mims and Bryant on Harvey's 40-yd TD run yesterday were incredible

Great point. Can't even cut Sherfield since he is a key special teamer and great blocker. ST just now starting to get its house in order

1) Good point. The good news is Denver will be done with the Russel Wilson salary cap hits going into next year.

2) This is true but I think a pro like Olave would adjust quickly.

3) I forgot about the concussions.

I originally mentioned Olave because of Paytons connection to the Saints. I’d love to pry BTJ from the Jags but he would cost more draft capital.

They do have a deep wr room. I’ve been waiting for Bryant to get involved. We need a consistent over the middle guy. I think not having Vele has been a big part of our struggles early. We are missing the blocking of Lil Jordan Humphry. Franklin and Mims are nice but inconsistent. Sutton is getting older so we need to look toward the future as well.

It’s interesting how a “crowded” WR room can quickly become thin with injuries.

Everything looked great against the Cowboys horrific and beat up defense but I’m not convinced the Broncos have enough juice to compete for a title. We need a consistent/dynamic pass catcher opposite Courtland. Maybe a Njoku. Maybe BTJ. Maybe Waddle.

All this being said, if internally the Broncos feel good about the direction of the room then they should sit tight.

Pectoral strain for PS2 according to various sources (Shefty, Rappoport)

Expected to miss 4-6 weeks so likely short-term IR. Arbrams-Draine next man up

At least it wasn't a season-ending tear...

Is Troy Franklin good, or the beneficiary of playing opposite Sutton and in a Payton offense? He has only 2 less targets than Sutton, and leads in red-zone targets 11-6. TDs are 4-3 for Troy.

The RJ Harvey 40-yd TD run was PFF's highest graded play of 2025 and "one of the best blocked plays in PFF history."

Quinn Meinerz received a coveted PFF 2.0 grade (1.5+0.5) for pancaking two separate defenders on a single play (then turning around and mashing a third)

RJ Harvey 40-yd run

PFF Highest graded plays of the week

PFF grade release show (7:15)
I’ve watched this play about 30 times. Every single blocker did their job too perfection. A great play design. I love watching Quinn play.

I don't like all this talk I am hearing about Denver trading for a WR. However with the latest PS2 news, I think Denver should look into a trade for a decent CB. Moss is an absolute liability and I am not really sold on McMillian. Barron could step up, but who knows? Denver could possibly fake it and get by with what they have for the next two weeks, but then it is KC/Wash in huge games and they are going to get torched.

All things considered some relatively positive news on the injury front:

- PS2 not being put on IR bodes well for his recovery. Will likely miss KC game but hopefully back after the bye vs. Commandos

- Ditto TE Nate Adkins. No IR (yet). Signing Marcedes Lewis to PS (not 53-man) tells me Lewis will be elevated and Adkins deactivated on game days for next 2-3 games until Adkins' PCL strain heals

- Dre Greenlaw returns this week, presumably fully healed and no snap count. Big boost to LB corps will help compensate for loss of Surtain on back end. Greenlaw had 6 combined tackles in only 21 snaps vs Giants

Signing Marcedes Lewis to PS

instead of trading for a WR, maybe trade for Njoku? (sorry, I'm a fan, so maybe it's not a good idea?)
I'm okay just sitting tight. Njoku is a pass-catching TE and we've already got one in Engram (in theory at least)

Adkins is a cheap, versatile, in-line blocking TE who enables Payton to run a lot "12" personnel w/ Trautman on running plays or deceptive pass plays. Lewis should fill that role just fine IMO

It sounds like Kris Abrahms-Drain will probably take PS2’s spot. He has played well. I don’t think there is a need to bring in a CB right now. I doubt they move Barron outside. Hopefully KAD can somewhat hold down the fort. Ironically the pressure may be off Riley with PS2 out. This defense is gonna have to play differently.

If we can't have success without PS2 for the middle of the season, then I'm concerned about our chances in the playoffs with him.
Any team losing their best player is gonna be significantly negatively effected, Especially losing the current DPOY. I think the key during this stretch will be our offense. Hopefully they are turning the corner. Hopefully it wasn’t the fact that they played a horrific defense last week. This week is gonna be an ugly game I think. We need to win at least 2/3 before the bye. Just making the playoffs isn’t good enough, we need a home game.

The fan in me wants us to make a splash. I do feel we need another consistent weapon opposite Courtland. I don’t hate the idea of getting Rashee Shaheed. He wouldn’t cost a high pick. He would be an upgrade over Franklin and Mims. He would be a scary deep threat. I think he is underrated as an all around good receiver.

it's unlikely we win the division, so I'm going to enjoy today... We're in first place! w00t!

Ok, not really, but I'll enjoy the best record for a few days

Most overrated team in football..

Beat 2-7 Raiders by 3, 3-5 Texans with Davis Mills by 3, 2-7 Giants by 1, and 1-8 Titans by 1.
They also won at Philly. They are a team that seems to play up and down to their level of competition, but I have a hard time calling a team with a defense this good overrated.

But they got robbed of a victory on the road against the 7-2 Colts and blew what should have been a victory on the road against the 5-3 Chargers. This in addition to the Philly win.
