Devers went 4-4 with a walk and knocked in three tonight against St. Louis as Boston swept a doubleheader to also sweep their three-game series with the Cards. He went 2-3 with two walks on Friday night and is now at .263/.404/.421 on the year. Way to bounce back out of whatever he was going through.

Alex Bregman went 4-5 with 6 RBI in the nightcap of the twinbill and sits at .314/.351/.486 for the year.

Nice signing so far.
The Devers thing is remarkable.

After all the pre-season talk about the Dodgers' incredible starting pitching depth, here we are in the first week in April and they're putting Justin Wrobleski and Landon Knack on the bump the next two days.

.244/.373/.390 after last night. 0-3 with a sacrifice fly for an RBI

The Rangers were also supposed to have great depth and are rolling out Patrick Corbin tonight.

Late-career Corbin would be a first-ballot Gobbler Hall of Famer. He has 70 losses over the last five seasons. No one else has 50.

I don't think it is that remarkable. I think his season actually makes a lot of sense. He essentially missed spring training. So he used the first couple weeks as spring training to get into "shape". He is too good a hitter to be that bad.

And he got paid $140 million to do it. :lmao:

Thanks for the heads up here....got an OVER play today.

There are 5 people at the White Sox/Twins game. Embarrassing.

Move these teams to cities that will support them.
Build it and they will come.

It = a good team.

Cubs draw fans when they suck. Red Sox too. Mariners have fans and they've been historically bad for decades, save for 1 or 2 decent seasons.
They went like 20 years without the playoffs but most those years they weren't close and we just had to enjoy things like Felix Hernandez pitching every five days. Recently it has been just shake your head at how close they get and can't find an answer to improve just a couple games. 2024 1 game out of the playoffs, 2023 1 game out, 2021 1 game out, 2018 1 game out, 2017 2 games out, 2016 half game out, 2014 1 game out. All these years getting close and only 2022 could they get over the hump and in. It's baffling to be that close that consistently and only have 1 playoff appearance.

It is frustrating - I'm not a fan, but it's the team that gets the coverage in Portland so I follow. It is criminal that they wasted the Felix years with an offense that just couldn't get it going. Felt like every signing was a bad one - Richie Sexson, Chone Figgins, Scott Spezio just to name a few. It's like these guys came over to Seattle and forgot how to hit. Hell, they wouldn't even take walks. I remember going to a game in 2009 or so and their clean-up hitter was Russell Freaking Banyan! My god.

All that said, I'm going to a game in July vs the Royals. I haven't been to all the MLB ballparks - I'd really like to visit San Francisco and Pittsburg - but T-Mobile is a treasure. Just an absolute gem of a stadium for baseball.
Orioles/Royals covered the over, my friend,

Decided to go UNDER 8.5 today. Gallen been using a knuckle curve effectively, think that slows the Os a bit.

Course the Baltimore pitcher could be a problem.....

Well, the UNDER hit last night, but not for the reason I played it. :lmao:

Back to the OVER tonight. Morton vs Kelly, two men with an ERA around 10. I don't think that's good.

He is ridiculous against most teams
I listened to the game on the MLB app. Suzyn Waldman said that the Yankees seemed more confused about Skubal's approach than they were with his raw stuff. He had them off balance the whole game.

Suzyn also mentioned about a dozen times that the wind chill in Detroit was 27 degrees.

Skubal was also missing his regular catcher, one that he had exclusively worked with the past couple of years.

He is no Billy Chapel being able to dictate that Gus is gonna catch today

Is Kerry Carpenter going to become a full time player? I keep missing out on his HRs because he often gets benched against lefties (and so I put him on my bench).

Halverson...OOF. had a great day going until he **** the bed.

Why the hell do managers put closers in low leverage situations. They almost always get lit up.

Pads, SF and Dodgers. 29-10

Is that good?
Can the Giants hang with LA/SD?

LA and SD undefeated at home, .500 on the road

This year might be fun.
I'm a Giants fan, and am on record in this thread saying that I really like their team this year. The start to the season has been a pleasant surprise, but I do not think they can hang with LA/SD over the full season. Arizona is no slouch either and it wouldn't surprise me if the Giants finish 4th.

All I really care about is making the playoffs as crazy things happen in playoff baseball and the Giants were probably underdogs in every single series they played in their three championship runs.

Man you really thought the Colorado offense might do something during this homestand and against the depleted Brewers' staff. Guess not.

In the 65-year history of the Minnesota Twins, their lineup has had a batting average below .200 after 13 games just twice.

This season and last season.

White Sox win their first series of the year against the Red Sox after an 8-game losing streak.

There's hope! Last year it took them 19 games to get their 4th win. This year they did it in only 14 games. WOW! Progress for sure.

Today, they will probably be embarrassed by their last year's ace, Garrett Crochet. I expect him to get his first no-hitter.

White Sox are being no hit through 7.

Jinx buster….

And Chase Meidroth, who was just called up squeaks one through the infield.

Mariners called up a kid from my little local college, Ben Williamson, 3B. Not a power hitter but makes good contact consistently. His mastery is on the defensive side though, probably the best defensive infielder in the minors before getting the call. Google Ben Williamson web gems and you'll find a number of results. No idea how long he'll stay up but in his senior season I told his mom he'd make it so I "won" that one.
