***Official - 2025 Major League Baseball Thread (7 Viewers)

The Cubs and Dodgers are finished playing for the regular season. The Cubs took the series 4-3, including four of five games on American soil.

The Dodgers can bludgeon the league with their payroll, but if they don't work on fixing a leaky bullpen and a poor defense then they will not be seeing the Cubs again in October.
They also need to figure out how to keep their starting pitchers healthy as they are down to 3.
Gonsolin back tomorrow.

I am pretty sure I mentioned Soto would miss Judge more than Judge would ever miss Soto.

It's only almost a month in but the trend early on is holding true. Pete Alonso though does not seem to mind LOL.

Judge - 108 PA 90 AB 22 R 37 H 7 2B 7 HR 25 RBI 3 SB 16 BB 22 K. .411/.509/.722/1.231
Soto - 105 PA 86 AB 17 R 20 H 5 2B 3 HR 12 RBI 2 SB 18 BB 15 K .233/.362/.395/.757

All Rise.

I am sure Soto will be fine.......but I love seeing this as a Yankees fan.
I don’t really follow baseball during the regular season but just saw Judge‘s stats so far. What the hell is going on there? Are we approaching „just walk him“ territory?

He is on another MVP pace. The guy is simply a great hitter. And fortunately the Yankees have other good bats around him. But yeah he is getting into that kind of air if this keeps up. His plate discipline this season thus far is on another level and that is the real difference.

I just hope if we make the post season he can shake that monkey off his back.

Don’t forget when Bonds was on Pittsburgh he had misrable post season performances. Same with Arod…a bunch of stars sometimes get cold in October….that’s baseball.

Judge is an easy HOF and future Yankee legend. I would love to see some post season success this year so that aspect can be put to bed.

He is a shinjng example of what a captain should be. All business, no hype, no flash.

Just results.

Yikes. Some fan at the PIT game yesterday fell from 20+ feet. Saw a clip on X and it did not look good.

It was really weird - like, the guy just sat up and catapulted himself over the railing. Tragic but the video was so bizarre.
Agree. It's like he sprang up due to excitement, only to quickly release that he went forward too far, too fast.
Somewhere they said he was trying to get on the field and didn't take into account the 20' drop. Treated it like he was at field level and it didn't quite work out the way he wanted.

Bummed we didn’t get him in SD when the window was open. Super close. He would’ve looked awesome in the brown and gold.

Judge is an easy HOF

Might want to pump the brakes a little there buddy.
Ehhhhhh he's already got 6 All-Stars, 2 MVPs, a ROY, and barring some sort of career ending injury, can probably sleepwalk his way to 500 HRs.
He’s 33 years old and only at 325. Good chance of getting there — he has not shown signs of slowing down so far. Some examples of players getting to 500 with similar numbers at that age (like Ortiz). But more the exception than the norm.

According to the Bill James' Favorite Toy calculator, Judge has a 48% chance of reaching 500 HRs and a 13% chance of 600. The tool is very conservative about the remaining length of his career; it has no idea the Yankees will be paying him $40M until he's age 39.

I'm not saying he's not on track, but just feel like saying he's "easy HOF" at this point is a huge jinx.

He has two MVP awards and a ROY. He's not there yet but he's close and playing for a winning, high profile franchise will help his standing with the BBWAA voters.

He has two MVP awards

Dale Murphy would like a word.

Judge has amassed more career WAR than Murphy in roughly half the number of plate appearances. Murphy was a 5x Gold Glove winner in CF but he doesn't grade well by modern defensive metrics for some reason.

Baseball-Reference has a bunch of different methods of assessing HoF qualifications. Judge is currently ahead of Murphy in all but one of the methods. Murphy was struggling with back problems by the time he was Judge's current age. He played four more seasons for the Phillies and Rockies but was a shadow of his former self.

There was a TikTok post from someone who said they were a few rows behind the guy and he was super drunk. Apparently ripped his shirt off a few innings before and poured a beer on himself - this is at least corroborated by him being shirtless when he fell. I don't think he was trying to get on the field - it looked like he was holding on to the rail, and as @bryhamm said, sprung up with excitement and jumped too much forward vs. up.

The video is kind of nuts because it literally looks like those videos of guys sitting on air bags, shooting up into the air.

Yeah I had a bad feeling he was inebriated.

I hope he pulls thru.

The dodgers became the first team ever to use 11 different starting pitchers before May smh

I know they're still the odds on favorite to win the WS but this has to be very very concerning.

Unless you know who starts pitching for them.

Whatever, I'm sure they'll trade for Paul Skenes, one of Seattle's best pitchers, Nolan Ryan and Grover Cleveland Alexander before the deadline.

Well, Kershaw is due back soon. Oh you meant the OTHER you know who. He's still a couple months out. Wouldn't surprise if he isn't ready until late in the season or they just wait until 2026.
Snell is due to start throwing again too.

Sadly my friend supporting the Pirates claims Skenes is under cheap control for a few more seasons so Pitt has no reason to trade him. We'll see.

And even with all that, their record still looks pretty good.

I know.....it's disheartening when one of the best teams in baseball ever assembled starts to show some cracks and their winning percentage is still .687.

The Padres are on a 6 game winning streak and have the second best record in the league, yet still can’t make ground on the Dodgers. Crazy.
