So Gabe Kapler tanked in September, and ultimately cost the Giants any chance of a wildcard spot. And now he's looking for a job. And of this sound familiar @scorchy ? I'm a little surprised Farhan Zaidi somehow survived. And a little disappointed. Not that Kapler got canned, but that it stopped with him.
Gabe's brand of management did not play at all in a blue collar town like Philly - he was openly loathed by the talk radio crowd and lots of regular fans too. Maybe if he won, folks could have handled the vibe, but we'll never know.

I'm guessing the west coast is a bit less judgey about his personality, but still gotta win. IIRC, the Giants had like an 80 pct chance of making the playoffs on fangraphs just.a month ago.

Kapler was in a bad spot to begin with in regard to the fan base. It's tough to follow Bochy, who might be the most revered person the Giants organization has produced in the San Francisco era. I mean, he's up there with Bill Walsh and Joe Montana around here. And then to see the Rangers loading up, and Bochy leading them to success while we're here with the Kapler/Zaidi circus of platoons and openers, well, let's just say I don't know of any Giants fan that is unhappy about Kapler getting the boot. Most, including myself, were hoping Zaidi would go with him.

This is 100% a desperation move by Zaidi to make someone else the scapegoat. Now they are going to hire a lame duck who will also get canned when Zaidi gets fired next year. They are just delaying the total housecleaning that they are going to have to have by 1 year.

Edit to add that this shouldn’t be construed as a defense of Kapler, who has zero ability to manage a locker room as we’ve seen in the reporting over the last few days.

Oh, absolutely. He knew if he just stood pat (which was probably his preference) he'd be asked to leave within the next week. I don't buy any of the rumblings that somehow Charles Johnson has confidence in Zaidi. I mean, he's probably said it, but what the hell else is going to say.

Odd result here but probably the smart thing. Miami is essentially conceding the make-up game, even though its a 99% sure win, presumably just to avoid traveling on Monday.

@BNightengale

MLB has now decided that the #Marlins will NOT have to resume their suspended game against the #Mets. If the Marlins win Sunday, they are the 5th seed and will play the #Phillies. If the Marlins lose and the #Dbacks win, Miami will be the 6th seed and play the #Brewers.

Is Angel Hernandez working behind the plate in this Twins game? I mean, what in the actual?

Terrible both ways. He called one strike that was at least a foot low. Then just a ton of missed strikes.

BRUTAL!!

the crew should have started at 620 since i grew up listening to merle and the uecke call them on that station in my garage with my dad while he smoked a swisher sweet and we tried to keep whatever pile of crap car we were on at the time running take that to the memory bank brohans

Staying strong with you brohan for the memory of your father. Enjoy tonight. Forge new memories with your kiddos. Peace, bro.

THEY DID IT!!!!

THE TWINS DID IT!!!

Congrats Twins fans. You’ve waited a long time for this. Enjoy.

:headbang:
Huge win to get the monkey off the back! On the 8th day, God created ROYCE LEWIS!!!!

Kid is special, hopefully he can stay healthy, He has the potential to be the next Kirby Puckett! He has the personality to go with the talent. Nothing against Joe Mauer, he had the talent but not the personality.

Why is Marlins Man at the Brewers game?
Cause Philly said f you buddy
Because he would rather sit next to big boobie Brewer lady than big boobie Philly guy.

That’s local celeb Front Row Amy. She’s had that seat at least a decade.
I thought I recognized that cleavage from the last playoff run.

AJ Pierzynski noted a third baseball legend sitting to Marlins Man’s left.
