If Houston ends up winning this game, Dusty is gonna be kicking himself for picking McCullers over Javier in game 3.
This series is going 7. On paper, tomorrow's matchup looks pretty lopsided in favor of Houston but we all know that JV has been pretty bad in the playoffs. Regardless, I would not count on torching him 2 straight starts. The only way it doesn't go 7 IMO is if the Phils come back tonight. If that happens, it's over tomorrow. We can still find a way to fight back but it will have to be another epic comeback.
Have to win tomorrow.
What would be the reason to take him out? He's only at 77 pitches and is unhittable tonight. He's not going to pitch again this series anyways (other than a possible bullpen arm game 7). You would have to be a buffoon to take him out right now. But I guess you never know with Dusty.Man I hope they leave Javier in there. They won’t because analytics guys are a bunch of wanks.

Same. I wanted to see him go for the complete game no no. Makes sense though to preserve him a bit. Sure he'll be a go if we get to G7.

Are you thinking he starts game 7? Man I would not trust McCullers at all.
ARod, Frank Thomas, and Big Papi. It would be difficult for Fox to come up with a less likable studio team.
Maybe they should add AJ Pierzynski.
ugh, i’d love phillies to win this but i still wish their fans weren’t such dicks

I think a lot has changed with this loss. First, Houston has their confidence back. Second, we know the series is going back to Houston. Third, Wheeler is potentially dealing with a dead arm so the next 2 games significantly favor Houston. I hate to say it but this really was a game that Philly needed to win. With that said, it’s a 3 game series and it’s baseball so anything can happen.Would be fitting for this world series to follow up a 5 hr game with a no hitter.
Nothing changed. Still have to win tomorrow and set it up for Wheeler game 6.

Dusty said after the game that he thought about it a lot and he would probably go 2-3 innings if it went to G7I doubt they'll start him but he'll definitely be available early
Not sure what point of the game this was from but he got up to over 90 pitches after 6 IP. There really was no reason to leave him in for the 7th because he wasn't gonig to be able to go 3 more innings for the no hitter. Get him out after 6 and then your bullpen can go three innings without having to come into the middle of an inning. I wouldn't have had issue leving Javier in for the 7th but I wouldn't have sent him out fo the 8th with over 100 pitches in the game.Man I hope they leave Javier in there. There was no way he was going three more innings when he was already over 90 pitches thru 6 IP. I could see leaving him out for the 7th but he wasn't going any more than that.Same. He was over 90 pitches so at most he could get through the 7th. The problem with planning to pull him if a guy gets on is then you have a guy on. It's better to bring in a pitcher with nobody on base and to start an inning. I wouldn't have had an issue with your plan but sometimes it's better to just have a fresh slate for a guy coming in.If I were the manager I would bring Javier out to start the 7th (and have a very short leash).

Yup I would have been ok with either move. It's just the guy was so much on his game that I would want to maximize his usage. The Phils have shown the ability to come back against anyone all postseason so the idea of pulling him must have left Baker a little uneasy. But it all worked out for them.He was over 90 pitches so at most he could get through the 7th. The problem with planning to pull him if a guy gets on is then you have a guy on. Really? Didn't he get hurt in that game against Baltimore on August 28th? After that, he gave up 3 runs in his last 23 regular season innings. He then struggled in his game against Seattle but pitched a gem against the Yanks. I think he'll be fine. He's such a great pitcher - this WS slump just feels like a complete fluke.Definitely worried about Verlander. Giving up a leadoff HR is not the way to start a game. He hasn't been the same since coming back from injury.

Well he’s definitely struggling again tonight.Really? Didn't he get hurt in that game against Baltimore on August 28th? After that, he gave up 3 runs in his last 23 regular season innings. Hope you're right. Just hasn't seemed as dominant in the playoffs. Probably just an overreaction on my part from G1 and Javier's brilliance.
All of the Phillies hitters are.Realmuto seems to be in a slump.
yeah this week has been a roller coaster and the last 2 games has sucked the fun out of most of it. getting a week away and hopefully the Phil's do something in the off-season should make for a fun season next yearI feel numb
