Rosenthal is the worst

You might not like him, but back when I was a total internet newbie I would write him (he did a weekly column with an email address at the bottom back when people would still do that). I was vociferous and an *** and he always took the time to explain to me what he was writing and why. He had no reason to be that patient with a jerk of a fan, but he did. I’ll forever owe him gratitude for that. He sort of (I still have keyboard problems) changed the way that I look at things digitally. Good guy. Maybe not the greatest baseball correspondent, but good guy.

Can’t believe they put Betts on and put the winning run at 2nd

Wow. First and third and they walked him? I just saw the home run because I was busy typing Bad News Bears quotes online for all of your enjoyment. Heh. I know, nobody probably dug it. But I just kept thinking about Tanner Boyle (not our erstwhile commenter Tanner—although now that I’ve mentioned it I am) and the Yankees.

That’s just respect for Mookie and a little bit of disrespect for Freeman. Huh. Good for him to go yard that way, then.

I kind of get it given the respective postseasons that Betts and Freeman have had. But yeah walking the bases loaded with a 1 run lead is about as dangerous as it gets.
Um, I think it was going to be second and third. Catch and carry.

Meaning when Alex Verdugo went into the stands on the catch dodgers runners advance 1 base after the deadball

I keep rewinding and watching it live. Wow what a moment. The buildup, the swing, the crowd reaction. The talk about his ankle before the at bat, total deja vu of Gibson.

I love to hate both of these teams so much that I almost like them.

I’m a Giants fan so I’m conditioned to loathe the Dodgers, but for me the players are so much more likable on the Dodgers that I feel compelled to root for them. Freeman has always struck me as a good dude and I’m happy for him. That was one of the all time great moments, and I’m sure the Dodger fans in here are on cloud nine.

If Verdugo doesn't do the Olympic Vault into the stands to get on all the highlight reals, his team could very well be up 1-0 right now. But his legs looked so amazing being up so high in the air and the dismount and everything. I gave him a 9.75, such flair! Even the glove art, earning him a 10 from the Mexican judge.

Admittedly, it could have been the weight of all the gold he was wearing that prevented him from hitting the breaks, tough to say. Anyway, Freeman might want to send him a card.

Really cool being here in SoCal for that one. I grew up in the shadow of dodger stadium. Had a firework show every Friday night. My god parents took me to the WS in 81. My dad is from Boston, so I am a red Sox fan. But the dodgers are playing the Yankees! Just brilliant tonight! Go Dodgers!! F the Yankees

I thought that was the rule, and I thought I saw the 3rd base umpire motion for Lux to go to 3rd. And yeah, they didn’t update the graphics. That makes more sense

Fantastic game.

I still cannot believe Boone put Nestor out there. When he came in I looked at my wife and said: “this guy hasn’t pitched in a month. He’s gonna throw a fastball first pitch to Ohtani just to try and get one over and he’s gonna bomb one.”

Ohtani of course just missed his pitch. I then turned to her and said “if he does that to Freeman this is over”.

Unbelievable.

Yes, that is the rule, both runners advanced. They put mookie on to try for the force out or DP.

Dp with 2 outs? Bold strategy :P

This is from the play by play to put a bow on it

Pitching Substitution
Pitching Change: Nestor Cortes replaces Jake Cousins.
Offensive Substitution
Offensive Substitution: Pinch-runner Chris Taylor replaces Gavin Lux.

Flyout
Shohei Ohtani flies out to left fielder Alex Verdugo in foul territory. Chris Taylor to 3rd. Tommy Edman to 2nd. 2 Outs
NYY 3,LAD 2

So did the Dodgers fan that reached over and caught the ball get kicked out before seeing the finish?
Looked like he was packing up his stuff and getting out of dodge about 30 secs after he caught it
The guy probably paid a decent amount for the seat, brought his glove, catches a fair ball and thus gets thrown out before seeing his team come back and win the game. Well at least he has a story to tell his grandkids.

Boone is so bad. Can’t believe how much of an edge the Dodgers have on the manager front
it’s funny you say that because most dodger fans i know hate roberts
Roberts makes bonehead moves, but nothing to the level of Boone with Cortes last night. And it’s not just that singular decision, there have been so many defensive miscues and base running blunders they have committed this whole season. That’s on the manager for not preparing the team. The $350M payroll hides the fact that Boone is the worst manager in baseball.
