Brewers at Cubs 8:08
It was surprising to see the Brewers announce Peralta as the starter. If the Brewers went with someone else and lost, then they would have Peralta at home for Game 5. If they were to win, then Peralta would be well rested for Game 1 of the NLCS, and could be used maybe three times.

I wasn't surprised, although its a decision that could go either way obviously. Peralta can pitch tonight on his normal rest schedule, he's been great in Wrigley and they want to close it out. The other option is to start Gasser or Ashby or someone else and make it another bullpen day but that doesn't inspire much confidence, more likely to result in a game 5 they don't want. If Peralta wins tonight he'll be ready for game 2 in an NLCS. If he had to pitch a game 5 at home on Saturday and they win, I don't think he'd be available until game 3 of an NLCS. I guess its a close call but I like the decision. Immediately after the game last night I was thinking - definitely Freddy tomorrow night.

Those are good points.

I have read that Philadelphia winning yesterday really shook up the gameplans for both the Cubs and Brewers. The belief from each team is the bullpens for both Los Angeles and Philadelphia are ineffective and gassed, and the winner of the NLCS is going to come from slugging, not pitching.

If the Phillies win tonight then they have to fly all the way across the country for the finale, and then the winner of that game has to pick up and fly into the midwest on one days rest. LA/Philadelphia will be exhausted for Game 1.

Congrats to Blue Jays fans.

Big Papi needs to chill..... Eh who am I kidding, I enjoy seeing the Red Sox lose as much as he enjoys the Yankees losing.

I need to adopt a team now.....thinking Brewers?

Everyone in Wisconsin and Illinois are big Phillies fans tonight.

Oh, I’m sick for that guy (Phillies P Kerkering), but he was scrambling to get the ball and shouldn’t beat himself up, IMO.

The last thing the Dodgers wanted was to fly cross country to Philly and Philly just couldn’t get them there to make them uncomfortable and maybe tight.

Dodgers gonna blow this thing apart, I think, but Toronto can play with them. It’s not the Yanks that can maybe match them in the end.

After watching these playoff games MLB really needs to go to a standardized electronic strike zone.

Pitchers are throwing high 90s. With full gear on and standing behind the catchers who have perfected the art of "framing' pitches it is almost impossible for the human eye to react in time.

The Philly pitcher should have been out of the 7th inning without a run. but a clear strike 3 was missed. That was just one of many.

In a Detroit-Seattle game the umpire missed 24 pitches for both sides. It is impacting the results of games.

They'll be able to challenge next year.

There were probly 10 pitches last night that would have been challenged in the Dodgers game. Maybe more

I hope the Dodgers win every year so that maybe, just maybe, MLB puts a floor and cap in place.
Go Blue!
They won't. The top 6 teams essentially subsidize the rest of the league through revenue sharing. Small market teams make more money when the Dodgers, Mets, Yankees and Cubs spend money on watchable teams. A floor would be nice.

What does Carpenter see from Kirby that none of his teammates see?

Kirby is going through the Detroit lineup like a chainsaw, but Carpenter has squared him up both times, and has been historically good against him.

I would be LIVID as a Mariners' fan. You Dave Roberts' bashers should shut the **** up forever. He has won WS. Wilson ruined Seattle's best season. He ****ed up twice and cost his team.
