***OFFICIAL*** 5th Pick Thread (1 Viewer)

OK, just finished my 12 team draft last night (PPR league). Here is how it turned out:

R. Moss, WR

T. Brady, QB

S. Smith, WR (Car)

L. Johnson, RB

R. Bush, RB

A. Bryant, WR

C. Benson, RB

J. Lewis, RB

J. Jones, RB

Z. Miller, TE

J. Morgan, WR

D. Akers, K

Sea, Def

W. McGahee, RB

M. Stafford, QB

D. Culppeper, QB

D. Thomas, WR

T. Scheffler, TE

M. Manningham, WR

Was really shocked to find that Brady was still there with my #2 pick. I had assumed that 3 QBs would be gone before I picked in the 2nd but lucked out and only 2 were taken. Furthermore, those 2 QBs where Brees and Romo :lmao: . I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to have the double points of Moss/Brady. I think they are poised for another very big year. I was shocked when S. Smith was still on the board for my 3rd round pick. I really wanted to take a RB with that pick but just had to stick with my value chart. After a 3rd start with no RBs my goal became scooping up starting RBs. I did get one of the guys I was heavily targeting in LJ and I think he will perform as a RB1. Bush is a polarizing player but in PPR he has great value and I'm very excited to land him in round 5.

I like the start - it will be interesting to see how Bush does, but in the 5th I can't pass him up either. I think that Moss/Brady combo will be great, just want them to get about 3/4s of what they did in 2007 and youll be set. I think it would also be helpful if people posted who they passed up to choose their guy in each round. For example, who was available when you draft Bush (Name 3 guys).

Ok, so I drafted tonight. I am in a league with A LOT of guys that make questionable moves. I should have drafted Housh rather than Grant in the 4th due to the RBs that fell, but I like my squad.

Player YTD Pts Bye

(1st round)Jackson, Steven STL RB - 9

(2nd round)Jennings, Greg GBP WR - 5

(3rd round)Colston, Marques NOS WR - 5

(4th round)Grant, Ryan GBP RB - 5

(5th round)Gates, Antonio SDC TE - 5

(6th round)Johnson, Larry KCC RB - 8

(7th round)Moreno, Knowshon DEN RB - 7

(8th round)Mason, Derrick BAL WR - 7

(9th round)Avery, Donnie STL WR (P) - 9

(10th round)Hasselbeck, Matt SEA QB - 7

(11th round)Edwards, Trent BUF QB - 9

(12th round)McGahee, Willis BAL RB - 7

(15th round)Charles, Jamaal KCC RB - 8

(14th round)Packers, Green Bay GBP Def - 5

(15th round)Williamson, Troy JAC WR - 7

(16th round)Bruce, Isaac SFO WR - 6

I waited a bit too long on QB, but I have a feeling Hass will do well, and I like Edwards this year. I wanted Schaub but he went early 7th, which stunk, but I waited a round too long.

Beanie Wells went 10th round! I just couldnt keep taking RBs after Moreno.

Thoughts, critiques?

I just got done drafting out of the 5 slot (12 teams). 0.5 ppr. 6pts all tds.

1 Moss (wanted deangelo but my career long man crush on moss had to continue)

2 Gore (ecstatic he fell to me. I ran like the saints when bush "fell" to them to the draft button)

3 Bowe

4 B. Edwards

I don't mind posting my draft if anyone wants to see it. There were a couple players just free falling for no reason so I feel like I got great value

More data for #5 slot drafters -1.05 - Brees (6pt per td pass league, and the top 4 rbs went 1-4)2.08 - Patrick Willis3.05 - Adrian Wilson4.08 - Kaeding5.05 - Frank Gore6.08 - Justin Smith7.05 - Wes Welker Here is what really matters - first 7 rounds all teams are required to fill out on player from each position. Beginning in Round 8, you can take any player from any position...so first 7 rounds are meaningless for ADP.8.08 - Thomas Jones9.05 - Knowshon Moreno10.08 - DeSean Jackson11.05 - Braylon Edwards12.08 - Hakeem Nix13.05 - Ben Roethlisberger (sucks...but Brees Bye week finds Big Ben facing the Lions) blah blah blahsome interesting late round picks included Mendenhall in Round 18, Fred Taylor in round 23 and Michael Bush in final round (round 24).% hole appears great for QB strategy...but rbs are going tio be weak. My best advice - land a good qb and target solid wrs. I attempted to get quality rb and wr instead of focusing on just wrs - and paid the price. My team is very mediocre because of it.

Heres how the rest of my draft went...

1.5 Moss

2.8 Gore - Was ecstatic watching him slide to me.

3.5 Bowe - I wanted Rogers as this is a very QB friendly league but he went right before my pick. Barber, Housh, Portis, TO all went after my pick in that order

4.8 Braylon - High on him this year. Brown and Romo went right before me. R. Grant, Desean, Roy Williams (DAL), and Bush in that order

5.5 Schaub - After Rogers went this was who I was targeting and knew he wouldn't make it back to me. Also this pick was easy since Gates went right before me. Followed by Santonio, Royal, Willie Parker in that order.

6.8 Ray Rice - Bought into the hype. got a couple cuss words right when i made this pick so thats always a good sign. Santana Moss, Daniels, Olsen, Walter followed my pick.

7.5 Winslow - This was actually made automatically cause i ran out of time. It was between him and someone else anyway. James Harrison, Knowshon, Hester, Beanie were after me.

8.8 L. Washington - Elated with this pick. My league has return yards and people underestimate him year in and year out. Coles, Demeco, Coffee, Carlson followed.

9.5 Mcnabb - I have no idea why he was still here. Big Ben was picked before him. One team still needed a QB at this point so i wasn't going to let him get past me. Picks after: Harvin, D'qwell Jackson, Tuck, Suggs

10.8 Zach Miller

11.5 Felix Jones - value just kept slipping

12.8 Camarillo - Total shot in the dark, time was running out on my pick. Maclin, Avant, Crabtree followed this pick

13.5 Trent Cole - Automatically picked.

14.8 Adrian Wilson

15.5 EJ Henderson

16.8 Donald Brown - couldn't let him sit out there anymore

it was 20 rounds the rest were IDP and a K. our starting lineups are QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 WR/TE, K, DL, 2 LB, 2 DB. I wasn't too fond of drafting 5, but I'm satisfied with the team, especially some of the RBs I was able to snag later in the draft.

has anyone taken Andre Johnson #5? (**PPR**)

according to the FBGs top 300 list, AJ is ranked #5 overall, as WR2 behind Fitz. since i'm nervous about Warner and the cards in general, i'm giving it some real thought.

it's down to AJ, Sjax, and Gore at 1.05 for me. tonight's draft is a 10 person league, and i'm thinking theres a small (maybe 25%) chance that Gore makes it back to me at 2.06. i took SJax last year at 1.04.

any input? draft tonight at 9pm EST.

I'm in a 12 team and took moss at 5 and gore was there for me in the 2nd. I'm a huge texan fan and aj fan and its not a bad pick. He'll have more tds this year with almost the same stats as last year. I wouldn't have minded taking aj its just I've had a career long man crush on moss.
