OFFICIAL 7th pick (12 team redraft) thread (1 Viewer)

I drafted on Sunday from the 7 spot in a 0.5 PPR, 4pt PA TD league, start 1 QB, 2RB, 3WR, 1TE, 1D & 1K. We decided this year that we would keep 1 player for next year and lose the round he was drafted in. Here's how it went:

I'd love to get Cotchery in the 6th. I know other owners in my league are high on him though. We'll see how that goes. Were you going to go with Favre at 8.6 and try to hold off on Daniels until 9.7? Garrard, Hasselbeck and Delhomme also went very late here...even Bulger but people seem down on him.

Draft last night from 7hole 16rd start 1q2r3w1t1k1d1flex all td 6pt .25passyd .1rush rec distance bonuses for tds 1st rd went LT ,Westy,Brady ,Addai(colt fan),AD,Sjax,Moss,BrayEd?,Romo,MbIII,Gore I finished with LJ,Bush,Megatron,Jennings,Roddy,Cutler,Chris Johnson,Vdavis, heap, ravens, bills, warner scobee, prater slayton .It is a long standing money league with always a few oddball picks because of distance scores. But lots of running back value was availible in middle rds would have went wr wr if LJ didnt fall .roster is fixed @2q3r4w2t1flex2k2d so easier to plan but still lots of options from middle

[/QUOTE]Even if Favre fell, I was going to wait on QB and go with Daniels for a couple of reasons. First, I have Favre in my other league and didn't want to risk having him as my starter in both in case he doesn't pan out. But there were still plenty of QBs out there that I liked (Cutler/Schaub/Garrard) so I thought I could wait. I was also pretty sure that the guy in the #3 spot was going to take Daniels if I didn't take him. So if I didn't get Daniels I would want Scheffler, but that would mean I couldn't take Cutler (would have had Cutler, Scheffler and Marshall) and I prefered Cutler out of the three above guys. Not sure if all this makes sense, but that's what I was thinking.I definitely recommend waiting on QB from this spot. I guess I could see someone taking Brady 1st and that would be a relatively fair value pick. But the other top 3 (Romo, Manning and Brees) QBs are going too soon IMO and then after those guys are gone, I don't really care if I get the #5 or the #12 QB as to me there's not that much of a difference. So you wait, try to load up talent at the other positions and then pick a reaonable QB later on. I may change my mind in a no PPR, 6 pt PA TD league but that was my strategy for this league and I was pretty happy with the result. I got a lot of guys I was targeting, now I have to hope the guys I like actually pan out

Here are my results from last night. Sort of a crazy draft as far as the flow, but I'm very pleased...and DD agrees putting me #1 (I was also #1 on another drafters program). Rosters must be 3qb/5rb/6wr/2te/2k/2dst. 7pts for all TDs, start 1qb/2rb/3wr/1te/1k/1dst. There are a few owners where after the first few rounds, they really fall off (the #9 and #11 drafters for sure)...the rest of the owners are pretty solid most years (especially #2, #4, #5, #7 ME, and #10 drafters, although #10 went WR/WR/WR and I'm not sold on his team this year).

Notes:

-- My Moss/Barber/Portis/Gore/etc debate at #7 resulted in me taking Barber. Top 6 were LT2, AP, Westy, Brady, Addai, SJax. I feel he's the safest pick there (maybe besides Moss, though I did not like the results of my teams when drafting Moss as much as a RB).

-- Peyton went 2.04.

-- LJ was on the board when I took Fitz at 2.06. It was a very tough choice for me to make as I always tend to drift towards stud RB, but I'm trying to change my ways a bit. The crazy thing is, LJ fell all the way to 2.10! I could not believe the Brady owner passed on him for Andre Johnson...and JLew went 2.08 (Browns homer influence there I'm assuming).

-- I was all set to take Burress at 3.07 only to see him snagged at 3.06. Went with Calvin there over Steve Smith.

-- Thought I'd grab Thomas Jones at 4.06, but he went early at 3.08. Of course Boldin and Roy were on the board and I didn't want to double up WR tandems, so I took Welker. Probably the safest pick of the three anyways, so that works.

-- I'm glad Palmer went at 5.05 because I probably would have snagged him at 5.07 leaving me real short on RB. I would have targeted Perry in the 6th, but he would have been gone. Edge/Forte in the 5th/6th worked out best I think here. I also knew the 6.09 drafter wanted Forte (stupid people giving away good info pre-draft).

-- The rest....McNabb was good value in the 7th, although Garrard went 10.12 and I would have been happy with that. Love MoMo in the 9th as my #4 RB and Vernon in the 11th. I waited for what I felt was a long time on kicker and defense and ended up with top end tandems.

-- As soon as i passed on Felix Jones in the 8th I knew I waited too long. He went right before my 9th pick.

-- I really wanted Patten and should have taken him in the 12th. One thing I realized this year more than in years past is the ADPs in the DD should be taken very lightly. Not talking about guys like Perry, of course he's going to go much earlier than his ADP, but just the overall player pool once you get by the first few rounds. Guys were not lasting to their ADPs in alot of cases. There were a few that fell, like Vernon, and it's more helpful in that regard. But if you like a guy and see his ADP is 2 rounds after you are in, don't sit there and hope. Get your guy (in many cases at least).
