We draw for a slotting position and then pick our draft position and I actually picked the 7th draft spot this year because of the chance that you get either a STUD WR or RB to anchor your team and then let the draft flow to you. I'd be very happy to go with Gore, Turner or AJ and then build around them. I'm not one to take a QB real early, so my team is likely to look a tad different, but I'm definitely on the same page as several of your picks and honestly I'm hoping I could start out with a first 5 rounds like this...1. Gore2. Fitz/Marshall3. S. Smith (Car)4. Boldin/Rice5. FinleyDo you recall where Steve Smith went?Just drafted out of the 7 spot. Here's the team. The two guys in () are the guy that went just before my pick and the guy who went just after.1-Gore (Turner, Moss)2-Fitzgerald (D. Williams, Marshall)3-Grant (Colston, P. Thomas)4-S. Rice (Romo, Crabtree)5-J. Finley (Davis, A. Foster) (Is Foster really a 5th rounder now?)6-Maclin (Knox, Spiller)7-Ryan (Portis, S. Moss)8-M. Bush (Cadillac, Palmer)9-Maroney (McNabb, Cooley)10-Gaffney (Mason, L. Washington)11-Collier (GB D, B. Scott)12-Hardesty (M. Williams TB, A. Bush, Maroney, HardestyWR-Fitz, Rice, Maclin, Gaffney, CollieTE-FinleyK-KaedingD- San DiegoThink I got great value in the first, second and fourth rounds. Not pleased with WR #3, but there has to be something a little weak. I think the seventh pick is one of the best out there. As long as the draft doesn't go six straight RB's, you get one of the big 6. If you miss out on them, you get AJ, a very nice consolation prize. I also like the guys there at 2.6. While I got Fitz, I would have been happy with Williams or Marshall. There is a lot out there. If you go RB/RB (one of the few slots where RB/RB actually seems viable), there are still very good WR's to grad in the third and fourth rounds. Colston/Crabtree would be almost as good as the guys I took. If Williams or Mathews falls, I think it's a great idea to grab them at 2.06 and go WR the next two rounds. If you don't mind waiting on a QB, I think TE in the fifth makes sense, provided one of the top five are still around (Clark/Gates/Witten/Davis/Finley).Then flex guys, a QBBC and/or a third WR. I like Bowe and there seems to be a slim chance he slides to 6.06. If not, Driver, or S. Moss.I like the mid picks this year.
Smitty went 4.02, the last WR taken before I took Rice. What are your starting requirements? I don't like waiting that long to lock up a second RB. You can take a RB at 2, 3 or 4 and still have a very solid WR corp with two of the guys you list above. If your draft goes this way, where are you getting RB #2? Also, I don't think the seventh round is early when it comes to drafting QB. You get to the point where nine or ten teams have a QB and what you don't want to do is wait too long and find that a QB2 run has left you with Garrard and Alex Smith. You might be able to wait until the eighth, but be very careful. We draw for a slotting position and then pick our draft position and I actually picked the 7th draft spot this year because of the chance that you get either a STUD WR or RB to anchor your team and then let the draft flow to you. my comment about not taking a QB early meant that I probably wouldn't be tempted to take a top 5 QB and would rather load up at the skill positions and take a chance with QBBC with a Kolb/Cutler/Ben/Eli/Flacco combo later. We start 3 WRs plus a flex with PPR and the best team I ever fielded a few years ago started out with SJAX, AJ, Calvin, Jennings, etc...1 RB and 4 straight WRs plus a nice TE (Gonzo went off) and Cutler with 4,000+ yds won me a championship.Knowing you can play 4 WRs each week is nice, so if you can get that anchor you can take chances by loading up at other positions it can really set you apart. If you RB1 gets hurt like what happened to me last year, you are dead in the water. It is a gamble.I do however like the idea of grabbing a 2nd RB if one falls, but it is PPR and I'd roll the dice on another potential top 10 WR than a guy like Benson...but that is just me. NEVERMIND, I misread and thought it was for PPR...I would definitely be taking a RB2 earlier than Rd 6.Smitty went 4.02, the last WR taken before I took Rice. What are your starting requirements?
