The way he looked this spring, I thought he was a mortal lock for 20/20 this year. But he's hamstrung by circumstance (and hamstring). Roberts is OBPing at .450 in front of him, so there aren't a ton of open bags in front of him. And Markakis is slugging .600+ behind him, so it's understandable they're not being too risky with him on the basepaths.I still think with his natural stroke, Jones goes for 20 or more HR's this year. But unless circumstances atop the lineup change, I can't see any reason to turn him loose on the basepaths. 10-15 may be the new ceiling. When do you think he will get his first stolen base?
Ask, and you shall receive.Roberts got thrown out trying to steal while Jones was up. Jones was able to do it after he was walked. When do you think he will get his first stolen base?
I think I jinxed him by bumping this thread. He got a hit and was pinch ran for in the 4th inning. I'm assuming he's injured.
Seems like they would have taken him out as soon as he injured it. Staying in another 3 innings could not have helped. They're saying day-to-day right now, but the O's also called up Reimold from Triple-A. That might speak louder than the injury report.
Trembley made it clear last night that they aren't going to take any chances with anything that will aggravate an injury to Jones.
This season in Baltimore is all about 2010 and beyond, so they're not going to send Jones out there if he's less than 100 percent.
They interviewed Trembely in the 4th inning last night as part of the "Wired Wednesday" thing, and Trembley said Jones told him it was o.k. and that he had made it clear to Jones not to lie or minimize the injury. I think Jones downplayed it until it was clear he should be pulled. On a related note, June 17 is Adam Jones Bobblehead Day at the ballpark. I am so there.Seems like they would have taken him out as soon as he injured it. Luke Scott has a hurt shoulder, Jones is now hurt, Lou Montanez has a hurt thumb and Pie is recovering from a stomach bug. Freel was traded and they can't keep Wiginton in LF on a nightly basis.Reimold has been playing too well in the minors not to bring him up in a situation like this.The_Man said:They're saying day-to-day right now, but the O's also called up Reimold from Triple-A. Man, this guy is going to look great in a Yanks uni in a couple of years.
I hope the O's get to keep him and Nick. Angelos used to open his wallet to overpriced, over the hill sluggers....it'd be nice if he did that for these two youngsters.Man, this guy is going to look great in a Yanks uni in a couple of years.![]()
Thanks for the update.Dave Trembley said that Jones should be a start tomorrow night in NY. He said he was available to pinch hit on Sunday, but wanted him 100% for the Yankees series.
