" Report: Boldin now game-time decision

Anquan Boldin, WR ARI

News: The East Valley Tribune reports that Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin (hip) has shown enough improvement in recent days for him to determine himself if he can play Week 5 at the Rams. The Cardinals have listed him as doubtful for the game. "He made significant progress the last two days," Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt said. "So I don’t want to rule him out, but doubtful is an accurate depiction." Boldin sat out Week 4 against the Steelers with the injury.

Analysis: Whisenhunt went on to say that Boldin probably could play. "He’s tough enough to do that, but there’s a line," Whisenhunt said. "You don’t want to push it where it's something that bothers him the next week or even the rest of the year. But you don’t ever want to say a guy like that isn’t going to play. He’s too tough. You can’t just say he’s out." Still, the Cardinals list him as doubtful, and we remain doubtful he'll actually play. But the odds have obviously improved somewhat. Fortunately, the Cardinals play in the early batch of games Sunday, so check the inactives list for Boldin's name about an hour before kickoff and set your lineup appropriately".

wow, that sounds a lot better than anything I read before....please guys post his inactive/active status ASAP this AM and I will do the same.

Now the question would be.. If he does play are yo sure you want to play him? :hangover: Skyking
I probably would....it's just a pain tolerance issue....once the game start you have the adrenaline factor.
I agree - and there is the filter down issue for those of us who may want to start B Johnson. I take quite a bit from his coach saying he could go if he wants to and a guy like Boldin would gut it out after such comments.I do not think a comment like this is gamesmanship:

 Boldin vs. the Rams secondary should be good, if he plays more than a half.If he's in, I have a tough choice between Edwards (vs. NE), ARE and him. Right now, I'm sticking with Boldin on the bench, but I need to hear more.

I wouldn't play him if he was active. He'd probably be a decoy. Let him rest and get 100%. We'll need him down the stretch..

Was there an initial diagnosis on this (time frame wise)?

Should we expect him to play next week since he was close this week?

Boldin owners should definitely want him back in their lineups especially with Warner playing...

I want him in my lineup, period. I don't care if noodle-armed Leinart is in there.Especially this week. It seems like half the players in the league have this next to their names this week: *BYE*

Especially when the seminal Warner meltdown happens.... curious why Card owners think Warner is this panacea...
I'm not a Card owner/fan but I think Boldin's numbers will be higher with Warner in there and Fitz' will drop... I'm not so sure he gives the Cardinals a better chance to win this year, though...

I think there is a big difference between the old offensive line and the one Warner will be stepping behind this time. The guy sucks when he's pressured. When he's not pressured he tends to carve up defenses.

Anquan Boldin said Monday that his hip is feeling better and went through what the Arizona Republic described as "an extensive workout.""I want to be smart about it," Boldin said. "I want to come back more than just one game. I don't want to rush it back and re-injure it and be down for the season. I really think that with this team, we're going to make a push for the playoffs, and I want to be in there when we do. For me it's tough. You want to be in there, but you also want to be smart and make sure it's not making it worse."
From RW yesterday... but from all the player-speak I've heard this year, it sounds like he doesn't expect to play this week. "Workout" is not the same as Practice, and he's basically saying "I don't want to come back too soon". With a Week 8 Bye, I personally am not expecting him back until Week 9. Just my 2 cents though, and I'd be glad to be proven wrong...

Anquan Boldin (WR - Arizona)

Boldin said his injured hip is feeling better every day. After an extensive workout on Monday, he wants to see how the hip responds today. "I want to be smart about it," said Boldin, who has missed two games. "I want to come back more than just one game. I don't want to rush it back and re-injure it and be down for the season. I really think that with this team, we're going to make a push for the playoffs, and I want to be in there when we do. "For me it's tough. You want to be in there, but you also want to be smart and make sure it's not making it worse."

Fantasy Impact:

With Boldin out, Larry Fitzgerald has produced the best two-game output of his career. In back-to-back wins over the Steelers and Rams, he had a combined 19 catches for 256 yards and a touchdown. Boldin's return would hurt Fitzgerald's fantasy value so you might think about moving him now.

his bye week is 3 weeks away...but thanks for the insight Fitz owner.
note the "I'd be glad to be proven wrong" from my post. Actually I'm a WR-desperate Boldin owner, but nice try. :) If you can read his comments and come away with the idea that he personally feels like he's playing this week, then good for you, crazy optimist! If he doesn't play this week, then we get to the ol' "Game Before The Bye" situation where this year, every player from Q on down takes a seat. That was my logic. (...and BYE being 2 weeks away is my math)

Are any of the other WRs on Arizona worth a pickup in Boldin's absence?

I know that B. Johnson has been effective at times. Is he the WR2 in place of Boldin? Is he worth a pickup, or is it just hit and miss with him and any of the ARZ WRs other than Fitzgerald?

Boldin has a history of injury, though I hate to say "soft"... He's not rushing back this week or next, it sounds like he's waiting until after they bye.

 Thats what I was trying to say, but you are way more succinct....unless you are just a Fitzgerald owner trying to manipulate our fragile little minds! :hey:

I have a trade pending based on if Boldin is "supposed" to play in the next couple of weeks. Any news that more clear than the mud we have now?

I only wish I was, byes are killing me this week.http://www.azcardinals.com/blog/blog.php?author=1

No Q today

I ran into Anquan Boldin a couple of times yesterday (I meant to blog it then but it's been busy around here) and was able to ask him about his status this week. Boldin said he was put through a fairly tough workout Monday but that the sore muscle around his hip didn't seem to regress. That said, Boldin said he wasn't going to practice today, instead doing more rehab.

It would be good to get Boldin back by Sunday, but as he said earlier this week, he thinks the Cards have a shot at the playoffs and he doesn't want to risk having a chance to play in the postseason by coming back too soon. We'll see how the week plays out.

Boldin is talking about saving himself for the playoffs? :coffee:

Cocky and hurt pretty badly I'm guessing. Who talks about sitting it out for the playoffs? In week 6?

i think he's referring to coming back too soon and re-injuring himself and not being available for the playoffs/playoff run.

I guess that supply of HGH......errrr, I mean supplements......must have ran out

I concur with other posters who think he certainly is out this week. I also suspect he might wait until after the bye. I actually don't have much of a problem with that as I can cover for him int he meantime. Would prefer to have him healthy for my make-believe playoff push. :goodposting:
