I'm a Foster owner and at this point I wouldn't be shocked if he played this weekend and put up 150/3TD or if he didn't see the field again for the rest of the season.
At any rate, it should be pretty clear to anyone who watches football that Foster is not JAG. He is one of the top 3 RBs in the NFL when he is healthy. Frankly, I will take the production I got from him as a 3rd rounder. The timing worked out perfectly to simply promote Morris from flex to RB and plug Gordon in as a flex option. I'm not losing any sleep over it.
I don't think anyone is disappointed with his production versus his ADP... and as long as he is declared OUT prior to kick-off it's not a season killer.
The real fear of course is that he declares himself 100% for week 15 or 16 and limps off after one series, taking your season with it.
Foster is on par with Demarco Murray in production this year in PPR for the games he's played so yeah. Won't shed the fragile tag after this year tho, like Murray seems to have done if he can close out the final 5 games.
Interesting comparison because Foster was a freaking work horse for a couple of years with severe usage and was fine. Now he's had a terrible patch. Which is exactly what Murray had at the BEGINNING of his career and took multiple seasons to get over. But people only remember the most recent stuff.
If Murray hurts himself Thursday and is out the rest of the season, he will derail some people's fantasy hopes and I guarantee you, despite him being so good this year, you will hear a ton of "Can't trust him to stay healthy" next offseason.
That's just the way it is for RBs.
What we should focus on is "a good player is a good player" and when they are a RB, they are going to go through these stretches. Very few great fantasy RBs ever go without having some bad/really bad patches. Charles, Peterson, Rice, Shady, Forte,...every notable back you can think of has lost part or majority of a season at some point. This is just Foster's time. When he plays there are few difference makers like him at his position so use him when you got him and don't overthink it .
