Sometimes you gotta watch the games, buddy. He looked real good. Was the 2 yard td run really that impressive?
Cool. I was seriously asking. The stats aren't that impressiveSometimes you gotta watch the games, buddy. He looked real good.
A lot of veterans don't turn on the afterburners in the preseason...not saying Foster has another gear, just saying it's possible we didn't see it.I feel like I'm the only one who thought he didn't look very good in the game. Looked markedly slower than he already was (he was never a speedster). He's still nifty in avoiding tackles and has good vision, but he's not going to outrun anyone (his long catch came on a good stiff arm on a bad tackle attempt). Ajayi has the speed and physicality, but he's not seeing the hole.
Good point. The safety literally blew his knee before he went to tackle Foster so no shock Foster was able to break the tackle.I feel like I'm the only one who thought he didn't look very good in the game. I'm not seeing what everyone else is either. It's not that Ajayi isn't hitting the hole, there are no holes. The one 6 yard run that Foster had was the only real hole I saw watching the first quarter & a half. The great 16 yard catch that Foster had, as mentioned previously, was made because the defender blew his knee out 5 yards away from the play & was still able to gain ground on Foster.I feel like I'm the only one who thought he didn't look very good in the game. Foster is more of a glider so he never was ever accused of looking like a burner.I feel like I'm the only one who thought he didn't look very good in the game. Might be the only game he is healthy to start. Got to make hay while the sun is shinning.who is starting this guy @ Seattle week 1?
I don't see Seattle as the juggernaut they once were. The Vikes and Cowboys moved the ball on their 1st team with ease in the preseason. Not saying they won't be a solid to good unit, and that it's not a tough matchup @ Seattle, but I don't see them as the buzzsaw they've been. Maybe that's foolish.who is starting this guy @ Seattle week 1?
As a heavily invested redraft owner I hold my breath every time this thread gets bumped. At best I drafted him as RB3 but still I'm expecting at least a half season out of him.Stop posting in here, please.
As an Ajayi owner, I click here to see if Foster has torn his ACL yet, every time the thread is bumped.
Playing from behind all game, I'm thinking 6+ receptionswho is starting this guy @ Seattle week 1?
As far as I know Foster has not been named the starter. Rotoworld misconstrued what Adam Gase said and every FF blurb followed suit on that. What Gase said is that Foster would play with the first team. Whether he would be the guy to take the first snap or not he said only time will tell.Everywhere that I can find still lists Ajayi as the starter? Anyone have any real insight on projected usage? Its been every other series in pre-season-is that the expectation? just wondering, I have him as my RB 3 and probably won't be starting him until he shows something but based on some of the rotoworld updates he may get more touches, but remains the #2.
Or Miami didn't want to get their fragile offseason signing injured in a meaningless preseason game. Or they're unsure about Jay and want to get more looks at him. Not saying you're wrong but there are multiple ways to look at this.As far as I know Foster has not been named the starter. Well fast forward to game 3 of the preseason Jay started the first series, Foster came in for the second series, then Jay came in for 3rd series, then Pead played on the 4th series.
So there is your time telling. Jay was/is the starter. Foster will alternate in. Based on this Jay Ajayi should play more snaps than Foster does and by playing more snaps should get more opportunities.
Yet rotoworld, FBG ect. will continue to push the narrative they have been pushing from the beginning with out any facts to back up their opinion.
We've duked this out enough on these boards about this, but man I can not wait for some clarity! You are so wrong on thisAs far as I know Foster has not been named the starter. Certainly possible that all the FF folks are right but based on the information available at this time? The facts? No I am not wrong about this. We've duked this out enough on these boards about this, but man I can not wait for some clarity! You are so wrong on this![]()
I think both of these things are part of the decision making process. Still will be most likely. Which is more reason to think that they will play Jay more than Foster. To keep Foster healthy.Or Miami didn't want to get their fragile offseason signing injured in a meaningless preseason game. Or they're unsure about Jay and want to get more looks at him. He wasn't interested in signing with a team until he could pass a physical. The duration of his FA had everything to do with his injury and not a tepid market for him.I think both of these things are part of the decision making process. Still will be most likely. People seem to forget that Foster was a free agent for a pretty long time, any team could have tried to sign him but didn't until most of training camp was already completed.
You could also interpret this as the team seeing what they had Ajayi and then deciding to sign Foster because they weren't satisfied with what they had (not to mention what tone1oc said).I think both of these things are part of the decision making process. Detroit supposedly was interested in Foster as well, I would guess other teams were as well. Foster wanted to play with Gase.He wasn't interested in signing with a team until he could pass a physical. The duration of his FA had everything to do with his injury and not a tepid market for him.
Well being the "starter" may not mean much as you say if they alternate series. You could also interpret this as the team seeing what they had Ajayi and then deciding to sign Foster because they weren't satisfied with what they had (not to mention what tone1oc said).
Ajayi may be the "starter" but I don't think that means much of anything for Foster's fantasy value (and where he's being drafted).
Your guy just fumbled and bumbled his way into the backup job.Stop posting in here, please.

No worries.Your guy just fumbled and bumbled his way into the backup job.
After Bridgewater's leg almost had to be amputated, this hits a little too close to home.No worries.
Foster's leg will literally detach from his body, while he's standing in the sidelines in a minute. ?
Nope.Anyone read anything lately about him opening as the starter and bell cow? I haven't seen anything yet.
Unless Foster is injured.....you are in La La land with Ajayi.Nope.
Just all the fantasy sites who anointed him the starter a month or so (incorrectly).
Gase did say he was disappointed with Jay fumbling the ball. That is something that hadn't happened in preseason before and was not happening in practice either. He was not happy about that. He didn't say anything about this changing who will start though.
Both Jay and Foster will split offensive series regardless. The only question is who "starts" on the first series and who actually plays more snaps. Based on the 3rd preseason game that was Jay over Foster. That could reverse itself if Gase is really disappointed with Jays play. I don't think any of us know that yet or if that does happen for how long, as this is something that could change at any time week to week.
Considering Fosters injury history, it would make sense to try to limit him and not have him be the bellcow RB because that improves the likelihood of him staying healthy throughout the season and having him be available for high leverage situations when he can help the team most. If they just have Foster be the bellcow I think that increases the likelihood of Foster being injured again.
Miami kept 5 RB on their roster as they were happy with the play of Isiah Pead. So there may be more of a mix of RB than anyone realizes. The coach has said they do not want to change RB mid series. Whoever starts a offensive possession is who he wants to finish that possession. RB will alternate possessions and may have some different plays depending on the RB who is in. RB use may be situational as one RB or set of plays may be better against a particular defense than another.
I am expecting Jay to play the most snaps and to get the most rushing attempts, but Foster will get his opportunities as well. More specifically Foster may be used in situations where they want to throw to the RB more as he is better than the other RB in this area of his skill set. I also saw Foster make some pretty good blocks in pass protection, but that is an assignment I think they want to limit from him when they can. Damien Williams is really good in pass protection, so he may get some play time as well.
Really not sure where Drake fits into this, if he does. Pead got the 4th series in the 3rd preseason game. So perhaps Pead or Drake gets one fourth of the snaps in this COP role.
He will be the lead back. It's not even a question down here.Anyone read anything lately about him opening as the starter and bell cow? I haven't seen anything yet.
Yep....then we are toast. Ajayi is just plain awful.Yeah Ajayi is terrible. Foster is the bell cow until he gets hurt.
I would rather have Drake, for second half purposes, at this point.Ajayi is just plain awful.
How could this happen? I mean, Ajayi had more preseason snaps and touches.Arian Foster - RB - Dolphins
Arian Foster is officially listed as the No. 1 running back on the Dolphins' depth chart.
Jay Ajayi got a host of ceremonial August starts, but the Dolphins haven't tried to hide the fact that Foster will be their first preference on all three downs. Few players are bigger injury risks, while Foster looked a gear slower before popping his Achilles' tendon last season, but he'll be a legitimate RB2 for however long he's on the field.
