IIRC it's not too bad. Tejada and Lopez have big deals, but otherwise it's not bloated. Sosa didn't get a long term deal (1 year with an option) and most of the pitchers are relatively young and so don't have big numbers. Ponsoon is a major exception to that, of course.Out of curiousity, what is the Orioles payroll this year? Is it anywhere close to the Yankees 200 million or the Red Sox 120 million?
Yep ... good call. LEE. OUT!
Without a 'stubborn MLB basher' option, I feel left out.Are there any Orioles fans posting in here or is just Red Sox, Yankees and the 1 known Devil Rays fan in here? Are there any Orioles fans left?
I'm still here....not a ton to say right now- we suck. Raffy is a disgrace, but then again so are about half of MLB ballplayers. The entire sport is so corrupt its ridiculous. As for the O's...I still have to be happy with this season. A 2 month reign as one of the best teams in baseball has to help build for the future somewhat, although obviously this past month has hurt our franchise's future a ton.Are there any Orioles fans posting in here or is just Red Sox, Yankees and the 1 known Devil Rays fan in here? Are there any Orioles fans left?

BALTIMORE (AP) -- Josh Towers scattered nine hits in his third career complete game, Gregg Zaun homered and drove in five runs, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 12-0 Friday night.
Corey Koskie, Alex Rios and Shea Hillenbrand also homered for the Blue Jays, who batted around during a four-run first inning and did it again in a six-run sixth. Toronto has won four straight, tying a season high, and is 16-10 since the All-Star break.
Both benches emptied in the top of the first when Daniel Cabrera (8-11) hit Eric Hinske with a pitch. Hinske moved toward the mound and shouted at Cabrera before Baltimore catcher Sal Fasano restrained Hinske. Order was restored before any punches were thrown.
The defeat ended Baltimore's three-game winning streak. The Orioles played without Rafael Palmeiro, who watched a second straight game from the dugout after returning Thursday from a 10-day suspension for using steroids.
Towers (9-9) allowed one runner past second base in his second straight masterful performance against his former team. The right-hander pitched eight shutout innings in a 1-0 victory at Camden Yards on May 3.
Towers struck out two and did not walk a batter.
Zaun, who also began his major league career in Baltimore, hit a three-run homer in the first inning and doubled in two runs in the sixth. The five RBIs matched a career high, set earlier this season against Boston.
The Blue Jays got all the offense they needed in the top of the first, scoring four unearned runs after Cabrera retired the first two batters. After third baseman Melvin Mora threw wildly to first after fielding a grounder by Vernon Wells, Toronto got four straight hits.
Koskie chased Cabrera by leading off the fifth with a shot to center that made it 5-0.
Toronto's six-run sixth was capped by Rios' three-run homer on an 0-2 pitch.
Hillenbrand homered off Steve Kline in the eighth.
Notes
RHP John Maine will start for the Orioles on Saturday. The rookie was in the clubhouse Friday, but will be formally recalled from Triple-A Ottawa on Saturday to make his second career start in the majors. ... Toronto is 44-31 at night and 16-24 in day games. ... Rios is 12-for-23 with three homers and nine RBIs in his last six games.
A few reasons....The major one being that Towers was just "on" tonight. I know why you ask though- the O's had won 3 in a row and you would think they'd have momentum, but thats the thing about baseball- one good pitcher can slow down even the largest amount of momentum. Why?Toronto 12, Baltimore 0

Rios is going to be so damn good. He has so much talent and is starting to put it all together. All the tools and still young.Rios is 12-for-23 with three homers and nine RBIs in his last six games.
Ummm...should we have someone call you? Because, I'm guessing you inability to read is not limited solely to newspapers.I am a dog and I am unable to read newspapers. Can someone please tell me if the Orioles are still in first place? TIA.
