Yet, a real fiscal conservative would never support Bush - quite a conundrum for you in '04. I guess you voted for the Green party in that election.A real republican(fiscal conservative) would never support a Dem.As a Republican who's fully BLAH about our candidates now that Fred T. dropped out (I'm not really sure why he ran in the first place), I've beenwatching the Dem nomination process. The more I hear Obama speak the more I think I could be one of the Obamacans this fall. I think I'll take some tax hikes and a real person in the White House over the status quo that is running against him on both sides of the aisle. This really is fascinating stuff we're seeing.
Go gettem tiger!!Leaving shortly for my first ***OFFICIAL*** campaign organizational meeting. Will report back on the happenings and the hotties. I need to find me an ObamaGirl.![]()
The superdelegates will go to the money and to their electorate - they go where their bread is buttered (the money in the democratic party). That money has been flowing to Obama.Ergo, the Dem superdelegates will be flocking to Obama . . .This is what i am hopeful of, but I don't underestimate the power of "the good ole boy" network in Washington and it has me a bit on edge.I think most of the undecided Super Delegates will back who they think is the winning horse in the race. They want to win in November, first and foremost. After watching the results show on CNN last night, I have a question. Do you guys think it's wise for Obama to be ripping on the "status quo" of our government? While I agree absolutely with what he is saying about the "same old same old", it's becoming clear to me that this could end up a situation where super delegates decide this thing. The people would vote for one person and the super delegates the other etc. Will those super delegates automatically side with Hillary because they are part of the "status quo" or will they actually stand up and do what is right and vote for the person the people are voting for? This is a bit of a concern for me.
They have no clue - they do not know how the superdelegates will go.But, a strong lead in pledged delegates combined with the declarations of the superdelegates to vote as their constituency voted, is sufficient to clinch the nomination. Even if the "clinch" is Hilary surrendering. On NPR they said that even if he won 60% of all remaining delegates he still would not have enough to guarantee the nomination.
Holy crap, I'm now Obama's Chief of Staff and Asian Hottie Administrator.Okay now this was just an event for volunteers, the email went out notifying us on Monday evening, and there were easily over 400 people there. Three of the local TV stations were there as well...kinda pissed I didn't get interviewed. Anyway, when the local State Rep got up and did a little cheerleading, he had us give a show of hands of how many people had never volunteered to work on a campaign before. At least 75% of the people raised their hands.I look forward to your report. I am sure once they hear you are from the FBG FFA you will immediately be put in a position of power.Leaving shortly for my first ***OFFICIAL*** campaign organizational meeting.

I predict that, before the March 4 vote in Tx and Ohio, that there will be some prominent Dems asking Hilary to surrender her campaign for the good of the party.adonis said:His comments rest on the idea that the superdelegates should vote according to the will of the people (pledged delegate count), not just their personal preferences. of all the hotties on your route.Karl Rove had some stat last night saying that McCain is drawing more Democrats to his campaign than Obama is Republicans. I find that a little difficult to believe just considering the overwhelming number of voters that are showing up for the Democrats primaries compared to the Republicans. In the CNN exit polls for Virgina yesterday they are showing the 7% of the voters on the Dem side identified themselves as Republicans (72% of which voted for Obama) and only 3% on the Rep side were Democrats. If I have time later I'll try to go through some other open primary exit polls.Karl Rove had some stat last night saying that McCain is drawing more Democrats to his campaign than Obama is Republicans. 26anyone know the number of delegates Edwards has off the top of their head? Sorry I am an i-diot.
If she wins Texas and Ohio, there is no way she will leave after the 4th, even if she still does not lead in pledged delegates. Obama needs to deliver a knockout punch by beating her in one of the those two states. Hillary will not give up easy, and I could definitely see her extending this out to Pennsylvania. This was supposed to be her nomination.I think she's out after the 4th. No way this thing goes to Pennsylvania.

I'm confident that you can singlehandedly bring Ohio to Obama. Rig some voting booths if you have to. But if you somehow fail, she ain't leaving the race after winning 2 big states. Are you whizzin on my optimism?I'm going on the theory that she'll either lose one of them, or win both by a few points but lose some Texas delegates anyway.
In both Tx and Oh - in all the states actually - the Dems divide their delegates proportionally. For the last time in this thread, though I'm sure I'll have to say it a few more times in other threads, if Obama hangs within 7 points or so of Hilary in Tx, and he takes the population centers, Tx will produce nearly equal number of delegates for each delegate. Similar situation in Ohio.Consequently, Hilary must take nearly ALL the delegates from those two states for her campaign to survive that night. Coming out of Tx and Oh with 20 mre delegates than Obama won't help her campaign. Are you whizzin on my optimism?I'm going on the theory that she'll either lose one of them, or win both by a few points but lose some Texas delegates anyway. If she wins Texas and Ohio, there is no way she will leave after the 4th, even if she still does not lead in pledged delegates. I'm fully aware of the delegate situation, and the likelihood that she will gain little ground in pledged delegates on March 4th. But again, if she wins the popular vote in both states, there is no way in hell that she will then remove herself from the race before Pennsylvania. Agreed. If she can go into the convention with the popular vote, she's going all the way. If she can go into the convention tied or within 100 superdelegates (who haven't defected) she's going all the way.If she can go into the convention in a situation where she would be winning if FL and MI were counted, she's going all the way.I'm fully aware of the delegate situation, and the likelihood that she will gain little ground in pledged delegates on March 4th. I first heard it over a year ago. But haven't really since.Has anybody been using the pun of "Obama-nation" = "abomination"? Seems like it's just begging to get some play, but I haven't seen it yet.
NO WAY IN HELL does Hillary bow out gracefully under any circumstances. Even if she loses everything she gains delegates because they're not winner-take-all. In her mind she's won MI and FL and is WAY ahead in the delegate and superdelegate count. I'll be more than happy to admit I'm wrong but I just do not see any graceful exit from her.If she wins Texas and Ohio, there is no way she will leave after the 4th, even if she still does not lead in pledged delegates. Personal ambition over party and country - the Clinton Way.Hillary Clinton will take the Democratic nomination even if she does not win the popular vote, but persuades enough superdelegates to vote for her at the convention, her campaign advisers say.
The New York senator, who lost three primaries Tuesday night, now lags slightly behind her rival, Illinois Senator Barack Obama, in the delegate count. She is even further behind in "pledged'' delegates, those assigned by virtue of primaries and caucuses.
But Clinton will not concede the race to Obama if he wins a greater number of pledged delegates by the end of the primary season, and will count on the 796 elected officials and party bigwigs to put her over the top, if necessary, said Clinton's communications director, Howard Wolfson.
"I want to be clear about the fact that neither campaign is in a position to win this nomination without the support of the votes of the superdelegates,'' Wolfson told reporters in a conference call.
"We don't make distinctions between delegates chosen by million of voters in a primary and those chosen between tens of thousands in caucuses,'' Wolfson said. "And we don't make distinctions when it comes to elected officials'' who vote as superdelegates at the convention.
"We are interested in acquiring delegates, period,'' he added.

A part of me is kinda hoping for this.If there is a huge disparity in the super delegates with Clinton winning, there is going to be political outrage like we haven't seen in a long time.
