All of the local reports are that barring an unforeen setback this morning Ben is going to play. The weather is going to suck though -- it has been raining hard this morning and will change to snow by gametime. Wind gusts up to 40-50 mph....

Ben Roethlisberger (shoulder) appeared to struggle with his velocity during the media-portion of Friday's practice.

The Steelers did not run any pass plays over 15 yards in that segment and later "appeared to be favoring his right shoulder and throwing with a semi-sidearm motion". Big Ben is expected to play and while this could simple be a matter of gamesmanship on the part of the Steelers, the situation is worth monitoring the Sunday morning reports over.

steelers homer here--i have no doubt that ben will play today. you should know (and probably already do) that there will be high winds and some snow in pittsburgh today, though.

The weather is worrying me more than the injury. I'm actually considering an injured Bulger in a dome over an injured Big Ben in a blizzard

FYI winds picking up considerably here. local TV guy just said "30 mph" fwiw.

eta: local sports guy just said that ben went through his typical pregame warmups and looked good on the field. said he threw the ball deep a couple times.

yeah just saw him throwing the ball on espn and he looked fine (not wincing at all)

I think a weak arm/non-spiral gets affected way more by the wind than a ball with velocity and a tight sprial. If Ben can put heat on the throw, he should be fine.

That is a bit of an "if" though.

Ed Werder mentioned that Ben threw a couple of 40 yard passes then headed to the locker room. I would generally consider this good news from a guy with a shoulder injury, but IMO Werder seemed to be insinuating there was more to it.

Benched him for Young. I didn't like the field, weather, injury combo. I hope I don't kick myself in three hours.
