Ah yes, that's what I was thinking of.

I hope that no matter who is president we won't have those or the speaker ripping up the speech on camera.  While the partisan piece of me enjoyed that immensely, when McCartney becomes speaker I wouldn't want him to do it.  But the precedent has been set, so if he does we libs certainly have no room to complain.

the hypocrisy is simply unreal

I expect a lot of talk, clapping, Ukraine, etc ...... Biden will read it all, he'll flub up some words, get that far off look he sometimes gets, he might go into whisper mode ..... I don't expect anything much of it really, I'll read it next day

as I understood it, the mandates were handed down and schools taking Fed Money (as well as business) had to comply or lose money/funding

Biden used federal dollars to control his mandate - that's why my company forced me to get the shot, they'd lose federal funding if they didn't

so yes - if that's all true, schools would face losing funding if they didn't comply ( like if they didn't want to do common core they'd lose money etc)

maybe that's changed with the lawsuits/judicial rulings ?

I’ll still bust mine out on flights I think. Bunch of filthy people breathing all over each other. Maybe the grocery store. Haven’t had the sniffles in like 2 years.

I had one last week and you're close.  Lack of masks means the cold is spreading.  Had a brutal head cold for about 3 days.  So did my wife.   But ONLY a cold.  Didn't test or nuttin

 
As far is SoTU goes. The stars are aligned for Joe to have a good one. Now he’s not a very inspiring speaker so expecting it to be pretty meh but his speech writers should have some material to work with.

Hypocrisy? one is federal, others are based on the school district.

What they did at the Capitol has nothing tondo with what is done here in the Metro Nashville Public Schools

 
Do you think Biden will walk in and out without a mask with all the handshakes and greetings going on?

I'm taking the long shot odds! I could def see him wearing it to go up there as well. He is an old guy under a ton of stress.

I hope which ever way he goes it won't be a big deal and we can start moving towards this not being an issue.

So why did you guys get your panties in a bunch when Trump was not supporting Covid mandates like you wanted back then?  You guys went CRAZY over that.  At times we are supposed to follow federal guidelines and sometimes not, guess it just depends on who your preferred political party is.

Man the hypocrisy is amazing with some of you.

You keep trying to make hypocrisy claims...without showing much of any.

I think some recognized we needed some mandates...pushed from the feds...or at least encouraged for the states to do so at that level.  And that if there were federal guidelines...yeah, would be nice if Trump supported what people thought the best thing to combat this virus.

Which has literally nothing to do with someone claiming that congress lifting their mask requirement relates to specific school districts down to a city/county level may still have them.  That is not hypocrisy.

Once again...in an attempt to just attack posters...the facts are not even right.

I have said since day one here I will call out hypocrisy.  And this is it.  Liberals went bonkers when Trump wasn't reacting to the pandemic in a way they felt he should.  And they blamed many many deaths(if not all) on that lack of response from a federal level, especially him. Now all of a sudden states and local governments make their own decisions, and the federal government shouldn't be used as a guide.  Right.  No facts there man.  You're embarrassing yourself now.

Yes...because its actually legitimate criticism for how he first reacted to the pandemic...including suppressing information.  And that there should have been more of a response from the federal government at that time.  Yes...it was pushed down to states and local governments to handle things...and they did.

As far as we sit right now...mask issues are done at the local level.  Right now.  So...right now...what does a school district's mask policy have to do with congress?  Nothing...it isn't hypocrisy to support what local governments are doing right now...and having wanted more federal involvement in the beginning (given the massive difference in resources of the federal government to first deal with this as it comes up vs states and counties).

Once again...you go for the personal shot to end...rather than really seeing what is being posted.

Right now...it has been left up to local governments to make such decisions.  So...seems pretty reasonable that congress may have different mask policies than Paducah Kentucky.

Seems mask policies/mandates are coming down all over the place.

I didn't slam you. Again, we have had this conversation multiple times. Everything here isn't about you.  Pointing out that you are spinning, which you definitely are, isn't slamming you.   Just take the loss and move on.

Because we all know that "the science" hasn't changed.  It was perfectly safe to burn your masks back in May or so.  What changed is the polling data, and we should all be cynical and unhappy that that's what it takes for somebody to do the right thing. 

Remember, this is the same jackass who openly admitted that his vaccine mandate was unconstitutional when he announced it.  It's nice that he's doing the right thing now, but some of us have long memories and will not forget the role this president played in stoking social divisions.

Pelosi ripping up the SOTU speech on live TV was truly unprecedented and disgusting no matter what side you are on. The classy thing to do was wait unit it was over and dump in the garbage if she wanted. 

I would not want anyone to rip up Bidens speech on live TV or sit there and make faces behind him like Pelosi did.

McConnell trying rip up the speech while Pelosi fights to save it. Watching those two geezers fight over the speech on live TV would be great theatre.

One of them would break a hip for sure!

Even if I take this all at face value I didn’t see wearing a mask in Kroger as a reason to throw a fit or park my car on the freeway. 

I’ll be happy when this great burden is lifted for so many.
