I know a bit about Arnold Rothstein because of his involvement in the story of

. I ended up reading some stories about him as a gambler, and then the World Series stuff... I don't know much about him as a bootlegger. But the background information I do know about him has made his scenes in Boardwalk Empire more enjoyable, not less. I imagine I'd like the show that much better if I knew more about Capone, Luciano, Lansky, et al.Anyone know of a good book or movie about all these guys?

Cmon man. I'm trying to be impartial to both sides here, but there's no way you can say the story of Meyer Lansky is anywhere remotely close to being as widely known that JFK was shot. The fact that we've had him referred to in this very thread as both Myer and Myra should be all the proof you need that he's not quite as famous as you want to believe he was.

I'm just trying to figure out why we shouldn't discuss actual historical facts. It's not like I've got access to the actual scripts or something. There is nothing that says the writers can't do whatever the hell they want.

But that's kinda the point. Not everyone wants to read up ahead of time to learn their stories. Some people want to let the show clue them into what happens. It's not like watching Pride of the Yankees or Titanic here. Nobody was watching Lou Gehrig and wondering "Oh man is he gonna make it???"

My comment was in regards to Al ####### Capone. Where do we draw the line on what EVERYONE knows and what only a few people know?
