I know nothing about guns, but as you get shot could your body tense and end up pulling the trigger post-mortem? Well maybe not post-mortem but as you are morteming?

Harrow wading through the whorehouse like he was playing COD with an invincibility hack.
You knew it was going to go down that way, it was just a question of how well executed it would be visually, and I think they did a good job.Just about everybody got played in that episode, that was great.

As much as Margaret's story line has deteriorated, I liked how they ended it for the season with her, closing the door on Nucky. With that I'm now interested again in where she goes next.

One thing I still don't understand - why is it o.k. for Mellon to own a distillery?
OH COME ON
:lmao:
I'm just hoping they do something interesting with Kelly MacDonald here. PLEASE!

I liked her when she was just getting started with Nucky...sneaking back into the suite to get his ledger or whatever.I would also like to see her beaver.

Just watch Trainspotting again :fro:

When someone's holding a gun to someone, and you've got your gun trained on him, I don't understand why people don't just shoot. You can't hear the bullet before it's into your brain, and at that point, your brain can't tell your finger to pull the trigger, right?
Was wondering this too when they had the gun on the little kid. I suppose in part there could be an involuntary muscle twitch reaction with your hand if your finger is already on the trigger?

They need to figure this out on "Myth Busters."

But putting the gun down and then doing the trick-shot was, presumably, to give his bullet the element of surprise. Even though telling the kid to close his eyes ruins any said element of surprise. I dunno. Maybe Myth Busters can figure this out.I thought a lot of this episode was pretty good, but quite a bit of it seemed like "fan service" (Nucky fighting with Al, Harrow COD spree, etc.)

Also, and I realize this opinion won't be popular, I think they should've pulled a Pine Barrens with Gyp. As ridiculous a character as he is, having the spectre of him possibly returning hanging over the rest of the show would've been great. And his death seemed like such a given, maybe it would've been better to zig instead of zag.

And logically, wouldn't one just hightail it the f out of Dodge and go into hiding?

The dude was nuts, very little logical about him - which made him unpredictable yet predictable, if that makes any sense. But yeah, it might have been more interesting to keep him around in some capacity, particularly after Masseria gave him up. Maybe he's not totally dead?

I wish Nucky would just fine a different hottie every couple episodes. The Margaret story is getting OLD! And her gimp kid, and the fatty one as well.

was not expecting the whole "dominate me" scene with Gyp and Gillian. Thought for sure she was going to whip the hell out of him...

Oh ok, I figured I was missing something with that story. I didn't put those things together, makes it a little more believable.

I dunno, in reality one guy (Harrow) making Gyp flee Atlantic City? What did I miss?
the other gangster pulled all his guys out to support him. Gyp lost his army of guys and he was done...
He knew if those guys were leaving that he got backdoored by Nucky and Masseria wasn't protecting him anymore. That meant it was only a matter of time before the hit squad showed up. Unfortunately for him, there was a 1man hit squad arriving first. I wonder what Harrow's plan was when there were 60 guys guarding the place? Or was he watching and waiting for a moment, saw all the cars pulling out and then ran to action?/

Probably something like that - his goal was just to get the boy out of there, not going on a killing spree, the less resistance the better.

Took me a while to figure out why Mellon would help Nucky out again, after already arresting Remus....but I guess Nucky convinced him that AR really did muscle his way into Mellons factory and demanded 99%....since Nucky promised something he couldn't give AR in the first place. Pretty smooth.

The other really savvy move was making Masseria believe he has a small army in AC....since no one knows about Capone. No one is coming anywhere near there with bad intentions now.

The Gyp killing felt unsatisfying. I wanted someone prominent to do the deed.
I'll go out on a limb here and say the whole final episode was a little unsatisfying. It was good, don't get me wrong. But the build up from the prior few episodes was epic. Was going to be hard to meet my expectations I guess.

So do we know the deal that was made with Capone?
anyone?
Wow lot's of people have me on ignore :kicksrock:
I don't think we know...don't recall hearing any details.
THANK YOU!!! I thought I missed it and couldn't find anything on the webz
Could have sworn Nucky asked Capone what this help was going to cost him? And Capone responded he wanted a piece of the Boardwalk - south of a certain street? Vaguely remember that - need to watch again.

It seems to be a pattern with this show, as with many others. The second to last episode was amazing and it's just a little tough to follow up with it in the finale. Still a great episode though.

They didn't actually show him die!!!

I don't recall that at all. I don't think we know the deal with Capone.

THIS.I would have DEF remembered something like that.

I must have incorrectly came to that conclusion from this exchange . . ."Outside, Chalky and Capone, and their respective crews, are butting heads. Nucky and Eli try to defuse the situation, and Capone reminds Nucky that his deal is with him, NOT Torrio, and Nucky skeptically asks what a handshake with Capone is worth. Capone offers to take some guys out to Margate and try to draw out Rosetti."

 where does that mention anything about south of the boardwalk?

Good point. The guy (whatever his name is) with the knife could have staged the whole thing and then lied to Nucky about Gyp really being dead. Easy way for Gyp to get out of Jersey and make a comeback.

It seems like for the first time since Jimmy was killed this show is back on track. I wish they didnt beat around the bush as much as they did for the first half a season, but they did rebound nicely. I think season 4 could be very good.

I'm still struggling with the Mellon motivation, too. When Nucky first introduced himself to Mellon a few episodes ago, Mellon treated him like a clump of dog-**** stuck on his shoe, only to later give him use of his distillery in PA.Why would Mellon now implicate AR in using the distillery at Nucky's behest? What did Nucky have at that moment to convince Mellon to do this? Surely it had to be more than AR had muscled in - Mellon could probably just hook up with AR, then. Not to mention Nucky would look like an incompetent buffoon in Mellon's eyes.Admittedly, I had trouble following some of the plot-lines this episode with the heroin/lucky/Messeria/AR thing and why Nucky was turning over 99% of the distillery to AR. Thanks for the write-up Raider. But this whole Mellon thing has me

I think it has more to do with who told Mellon Arnold Rothsteins name while he was on the phone.

I mean, he got shot while he was getting chokeraped and he still was able to run out into the street. A little stick in the back and the stomach could be survived. And he had his other two buddies there to run and get him some help.

Means definitely was key....I assume they got Mellon to believe AR was a ruthless gangster who wasn't going to cut Mellon in on his own factory.

They skipped over a lot of back story and potentially interesting stuff IMO. Why not cut out some of the garbage early and mid season, and expand on what actually went down in the last episode?

Did you consider keeping Gyp Rosetti (Bobby Cannavale) around for season 4? He was definitely entertaining.

Winter: We did. It’s always difficult when you have a character you love and an actor you love portraying that character. The tendency is to want to go through some writer gymnastics to see if there’s any way he gets away and comes back, even if it goes against the story logic. It became apparent that Gyp was just this monster who had to die. Even if we kept him alive into season four, he’d have to die very shortly into the new season anyway. We figured it would be a much more powerful way to end the season to have him killed in the finale.
