Anyone know if Borderlands 2 will allow for more customization of your character. That was one of the things I think that could have improved the first. The only customizing it had was changing the color of your attire and renaming the character, and no one even saw your character name so that was pointless.
 Did you never use the skill trees?Likely going to be getting this one. Username:JasonSwires
Yo! You have time to game with childrens? PC?

The .NET loop is hitting about everyone. I am updating video drivers to see if that helps with the other.
This is an issue with Steam all together. Not specific to Borderlands 2. I still have a couple of games that want to install it every time. There are some supposed fixes out there for it, but I've never gotten any of them to work.

Apparently the fix is to run Steam as an admin. I have had it install before, but never repeated like it is.Stupid ISP killed my office internet last night, so might not have any gaming at all today. :hot:

Played to almost level 5, so far a lot of the same that made the first one great. Once I get a little further along I will be ready for co-op.

Thankfully, it's not doing it to me on Borderlands 2. Played up to level 5 Gunzerker so far. Gotta get some stuff done around the house and I'll be back on tonight.

I'm wondering at what level the skill points come into play. I'm thinking gunzerkers gotta get the ability to go akimbo with rifles right?

Level 5.

Nice, just a few more kills. Too bad I am busy straight through all day from basically now until 11pm between work, family and church responsibilities.

Any PS3 installs yet? I won't have time to play today :hot: but plan to install the game and let it do any updating that is necessary so I am ready to go tomorrow. Just wondering what to expect.

There was no installing/updating necessary when I put the game in for the first time on my PS3

Cool. The first time I put Skyrim in, there was about a 45 minute update. So you just never know.

Yeah nothing like that for Borderlands 2. Even the Premiere Club Pack and Creature Slaugher Pack that comes with pre-ordering at gamespot are each 100kb in size and take 1-2 seconds to download.

I forgot...how does the co-op work on borderlands? I seem to remember it being different than normal or am I :banned:

Oh yea, I can at least get those. Who knows, maybe I can sneak 30 minutes of play time in since there's no updating to do. Or at least get past the long cinematic that apparently is at the front end of the game.

I too picked up my pre-ordered copy today, but will not have anytime to play today...possibly sneak it in late tonight, but doubt it. Can't wait!

The book said it can be wide open for anyone to join, allow your frineds only, or be by invite only. That's for the PS3.
hmmm....I remember trying to do the underdome riot in a multiplayer/co-op and it had me at level 1 despite being maxed out. It's been a while so maybe I'm not remembering correctly.Did I make my character outside of xboxlive or something? I don't know.

You apparently get another golden key if you sign up for Shift, but their servers are slammed right now. Nothing getting through. I am wondering if you get 1 golden key per character, or just 1 per account. Anyone know?

Seems to be one per account, from the Steam forums. You can get more from events, rewards and such.

I'm not gonna use my key until I'm higher in level. I'm hoping that I'll get a nicer weapon by that time. What's everyone else's strategy there?

If I get two, I might pull one now and save one for later. I would hope that you get a new one with each DLC, as well.

How is the weapon/shield comparison system for BL2 in terms of comparing a dropped weapon or a weapon in a case with one in your pack?

I'm frustrated with it because they clearly adapted this one to be easier for consoles instead of PC. :hot: The first one was better IMO.

ok, kinda think I'm in on PC. Obviously I didn't pre-order, but are there any bonuses I can get by buying from a specific place?

Did you play #1? If you are unsure, grab BL for dirt cheap. If you like it, then you can be fairly certain you will love BL2. The graphics are totally different from what you are used to, but I love they went the direction of cell shading.

I actually own it on Steam. Never played it :bag: I think I got the entire game with all the DLC's on sale over a year ago for like $25. Kinda seemed like the sort of game that would only be fun with a group.

Absolutely lots of carnage to be had. Definitely an over-the-top shooter with some RPG elements and a crapload of loot-lust. Like Diablo, only more fun and a FPS.

Agreed. But I can learn to deal with it. If any PCers are playing tonight, give me a shout and I'll join.

Sorry, should have stated PS3 for me. It's tough sometimes with an 11 month old but I plan on getting playing this weekend.

It will come. Just learn the various stats of each weapon (wikia is your friend) and then you can compare almost instantly.http://borderlands.wikia.com/wiki/Borderlands_Wiki

So stupid Steam cloud is not functioning. It did not update from my office. I go to hit an hour tonight, and no way I'm going to start over. So I wait until tomorrow. . . :(

Something about the view feels too zoomed in on this. Played a couple hours tonight. Second verse, same as the first... and that's not a bad thing.

Strange, I had the same initial feeling. I notice it most when I'm standing near a gun or something, I have to look up to see the stats if I'm somewhat close to it; I don't remember having to do that for the first Borderlands.

Yep, same here. In fact, first couple of loot hauls, I didn't even notice that it showed an indicator above the item. I was just grabbing everything hoping it was something I needed/could use. But I got used to that pretty quick.Had about an hour and a half with it yesterday. Level 6 Assassin. Really need to figure out where I am going with a build before I waste any level ups. I do know one thing, the time flew by and I had a blast!

p.s. I wish I had about double the inventory slots. Left a lot of loot when I went and killed the thing riding the other thing. Bullymog?

Edit to add: I expected this thread to be about 6 pages by now with people posting their intial impressions. Guess it's to early?

Playing on PC and I absolutely love it. I have all of the settings cranked to the max and its absolutely beautiful. I am not as use to the controls as I was with the Xbox but that will come with time. The humor is there from the 1st one, the characters are great and I love the new mobs that I have seen thus far. My wife had to play mommy last night and tell me it was time to go to bed

My brother and I played on PS3 last night and he noticed it enough to mention it to me. I didn't notice it. It is a great game and I got my Soldier up to level 9 after soloing myself to just past Flynt and then helping my brother clean up a few side missions and killing Flynt again. I have found that there are almost too many things to check for loot and that is about the only drawback. For the PS3 guys I will suggest that you reduce the sensitivity on the controller a couple of notches. I think it is set at 6 to start and I dialed it back to 4(could be wrong about the six but I did drop it 2 digits). I found that this gave me better aiming control. I also found that the humor is SO HORRIBLY BAD that it is really funny.

I honestly didn't find this to be an issue. I wasn't having any problems sniping using the Assassin character. I tend to like higher control settings though due to playing a bit of multiplayer, where the ability to quickly turn around can be pretty important. Maybe it's just something I got used too.
