This is why I couldnt coach or manage or anything. I would have gotten ejected and probably taken that LF umpire with meDon't agree with these announcers ripping Atlanta fans for throwing crap onto the field. They're not throwing it at players or umpires. They're tossing trash onto the field as a protest. Totally legitimate move by the fans to express their displeasure.![]()
I'm a Cards fan, and completely agree. That's a terrible call, and they are saying what the fans did was embarrassing. But the only real embarrassing thing was the call. Sure, ideally crowds never litter the field with garbage, but you gave them a pretty good excuse to there....Don't agree with these announcers ripping Atlanta fans for throwing crap onto the field. Yeah, not sure I've ever been more proud of Atlanta Braves fans. They just saw a team's season and a beloved player's career almost certainly ended by an insane call. Not sure there's a more appropriate reaction than that.Don't agree with these announcers ripping Atlanta fans for throwing crap onto the field. They're not throwing it at players or umpires. Cardinals have a history of getting the fans worked up like this....starting in 1934Don't agree with these announcers ripping Atlanta fans for throwing crap onto the field. i wasnt watching. is that what happened? i thought they only call it with runners on first and second or bases loaded'pollardsvision said:Why is the infield fly rule even eligible to be called with no man on 1st? Without a man on 1st, it negates the entire purpose of the call.
Nevermind. They were on 1st/2nd.i wasnt watching. is that what happened? i thought they only call it with runners on first and second or bases loaded'pollardsvision said:Why is the infield fly rule even eligible to be called with no man on 1st? nothingNot a big baseball fan, what does a protest really mean?
What game are you watching? It seems as the umps call of infield fly caused the SS to back off as well.
mlb will hear the protest and will decide whether to uphold or overturn the call. if they overturn the call theyd replay the game from that point. look up the pine tar incident for a case where a protested call was overturnedNot a big baseball fan, what does a protest really mean?
Almost certainly, it means nothing. In some alternate universe where MLB cared about getting this game right and didn't mind screwing up their postseason schedule, I think the game could be replayed from the point of the screwed up call. I have no idea if it's ever happened though. Not a big baseball fan, what does a protest really mean?
Yeah, looks like SS peeled off before the signal, although we don't have the audio to know if he called something. Do they shout a call in that case or is it completely visual? What game are you watching? It seems as the umps call of infield fly caused the SS to back off as well.
Yes he would shout that the infield fly rule was in effect as he lifted his arm- usually they yell "batter is out"ETA - and they need to yell loud enough so that the runners know if they are advancingYeah, looks like SS peeled off before the signal, although we don't have the audio to know if he called something. So just like the NFL recently. So essentially you will get an apology and a "suck it up" letter from the league.

It was a bull#### call. I have no problem with fans tossing trash onto the field. Why do you?
Well for one it would be naive to think no fans were throwing at the umps or opposing players. Maybe 99% weren't and were 'protesting' but they just gave the 1% who would take shots a perfect cover to do so and have almost no chance of being caught.Of course it should also be obvious that there isn't a good reason for the fans to cross the line between out of play and in play areas.'Dr. Awesome said:Don't agree with these announcers ripping Atlanta fans for throwing crap onto the field.
