***OFFICIAL CHICAGO BLACKHAWKS PLAYOFF THREAD*** (1 Viewer)

Here's the clip of Torres' illegal hit to the head on Hossa. Clip and another good angle slow mo

saw that - doesn't change the result from last night tho. The non-call was egregious, and I honestly think there should be a suspension among the officiating staff as well.

Hossa ruled out for the next game.

Not sure I understand the Torres decision to put off his in-person hearing until Friday.

Shaw gets suspended, Hossa gets smoked, and the Hawks get handed a loss. I guess at least it wasn't Smith assisting Torres on the game-winning goal in OT. Seems like karma coming due for the cheap shot Keith put on Sedin.
Yeah except Keith's hit was in retaliation for a cheap shot by Sedin first in the corner. For sure it was a dirty hit and Keith shouldn't have done it but it wasn't Keith headhunting for the sake of headhunting.
Let's be honest, it doesn't matter if it's retaliation or not, a dirty hit is a dirty hit. I personally like the thought of the Sedins getting abused every chance possible as long as it's within the rules of the game. A hit with clear intention to injure like Keith's and IMO Torres' should never exist regardless of other circumstances. Besides possibly ending careers it absolutely changes the odds of who lifts the Stanley Cup. What bothers me the most is that the NHL doesn't have the sack to make player safety the number one priority by consistently doling out meaningful punishment to prevent illegal hits. You want to clean up dirty hits? Suspend for the hit, not the result, the fact that an injury does not occur should not lessen the severity of the punishment for an illegal hit. Each infraction should have a preset and known punishment. For example, you board someone it's 5 games and a fine that is 3% of your salary. Do it again within a year and now it's a 6% fine and 10 games. Also force the team to keep an empty roster slot for each suspended player, no more pulling someone up to fill their slot. As mentioned, raise the maximum fines. $2,500 being the maximum fine available is ridiculous. I'm guessing coaches and players would take it more seriously.
I agree, it was a dirty hit and Keith deservedly got 5 games. I think this type of thing will be a major point in the new CBA negotiations, but for me I like the idea of if a player gets suspended your team is short that player for the length of the suspension. No call ups or fill ins. And agree with the known punishment. Something like this what I read on another board.Hit to the head = 2 gamesInvolving an elbow = 2 gamesCharging as well = 2 gamesLeaves his feet = 3 gamesLate = 2 gamesIntentional = 3 gamesPlayer (on the receiving end) leaves the game = 2 gamesRepeat offender = 3^(x-1), where x is number of times suspended. So first suspension 0, second = 3, third 9, fourth 27, and fifth 81.A panel of five reviews each the play and votes on each category. If the majority check yes then the player in question gets the allotted number of games for the category. The panel could consist of:1 player (NHLPA rep?)1 coach1 team executive (all 3 from other conference)1 referee1 NHL executiveIF a vote is 3-2 for a category, a player may appeal to a new panel of 5 whose decision is absolutely final.

Wow, Smith personally said lights out to Chicago last night. Amazing to see him play like that after being on the brink of death a few games ago. Phoenix definitely deserved to win the series but it's bitter to see Chicago's best effort of the series get brushed off like a gnat.

Smith was definitely great last night, but I thought a lot of the Hawks shots were more rebound attempts than true shots. After the first period flurry the energy was pretty fleeting and the 'Hawks power play was beyond horrific. Once the second goal was scored, the energy was gone (after the third, most of the crowd was gone, too). Not sure if it came through the broadcast, but the crowd started a "Hossa" chant a couple of times that was pretty cool. If Cornelison had done Tri-Man's idea the roof would have come off that place!!

Looks like no Emery or Bolland to start the series, not that it's any shock though. I hope Handzus stays at C on the 2nd line, seems to work the best so far.

100 level Tix available at face on ticketmaster for tonight.
I think the hawks hold back a bunch of seats for NHL, visitors, players etc and whatever tix don't get sold, they release the day of.I remember that being the case in years past.
Will you be there tonight?
Yes but not Friday. Heading to the derby on Thursday. My tix available for facelift you're interested.

Would love to but have a kids thing going on that night.

Hawks need a much stronger effort on Friday night. Need much more traffic/drive to the net, can't be held to the one shot from the perimeter and out nonsense. I was really really concerned with Crow after letting in the weak goal from Clutterbuck, but he didn't fold and finished strong. The 3 on 2 save on Parise was great, came way out to challenge and stood tall.

On a completely different note, I am 100000% done with this BS Comcast does with having a player comment about ALL the highlights especially a rookie. Saad had no business doing postgame with those CSN bafoons Konroyd and Boden.
