***Official CLEVELAND INDIANS Thread*** (1 Viewer)

Why didnt the Indians acquire a closer inthe offseason? Also, is Borowski hurt? At least last year he was decent in save chances.
Can't answer #1, it's not like there were a ton on the market anyways. I've always believed you find your closers from within the org anyways.http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=280414105

Borowski has blown two saves in a row, and is so concerned about a loss in velocity that he's going to have his arm examined.

"I'm grasping at straws. I think we're going to get it checked. Maybe it's nothing, maybe it is. It's driving me crazy, too," he said.

This team is as overrated as the Kittens!
What's the White Sux record this year against this "overrated" team?
I will take my chances with the Sux but it appears that the div is going to be filled with some less than awe inspiring baseball. However- if I can recall- the Sux were not getting much support at all while the Kittens and the Tribe were planning parade routes and the only thing you own is just a sally type record....

It's April 15th people. I'd take my chances if I were a Royals fan right now.

I :hophead: hate Wedge's "no doubles" defense. What happened? A double.

I also :pickle: can't stand Borowski. Am i going to have to take up 'ludes to help me get through the 9th?

I also :censored: hate the Red Sux.

That is all for now... :wall:

CLEVELAND -- Indians closer Joe Borowski was placed on the 15-day disabled list Tuesday, a day after blowing a save and giving up a two-run homer in the ninth inning to Boston's Manny Ramirez in a 6-4 loss to the Red Sox. The club said Borowski, who led the AL with 45 saves last season, has a strained triceps. He had been puzzled and frustrated by a significant loss in his velocity. The club recalled right-hander Tom Mastny from Triple-A Buffalo. With Borowski out, Indians manager Eric Wedge likely will turn to Rafael Betancourt as his new closer. Betancourt was one of baseball's top set-up men last season. He had three saves last season and has 12 career saves.

Does it bother anyone a little bit that Foulke is pitching so well for the A's this year?

And he "retired" rather than play for the Tribe last year.

wow, the Indians are really not looking good. Hard to see them winning the division without at least another bat, and probably some relief pitching

He could have sat on the DL and soaked up money for doing nothing. The fact that he gave up the money would led me to think he probably genuinely thought he was done.

From what I gathered listening to the radio he didn't think he was done, if he was going to be paid he wanted to earn his contract. Very classy move on his part.

This is correct. Just to not confuse anyone, that's not what bothers me. He's doing good and we could use him right now.

As information, there was no judgment on my part vis-a-vis' Foulke's retirement. Retired was in quotes as a reference to what he did before the 2007 season IIRC. I have no problems with him pitching now.

A loss is a loss...the Tribe RARELY wins against a young pitcher making his debut or close to it.

CC, on the other hand.....

Wonder if $17MM or whatever he turned down is looking nice to him now? What am I thinking, the Yanks will toss $22MM per at him no matter what.

The Sox have the same problem!

The only good thing that could come out of this is Francisco gets a start tonight and never looks back. He's probably only got a few days to stick as they'll have to call up Sowers or Laffey soon.

CC better win tonight. Royals are last in runs scored.

tough loss for Laffey last night...thought he pitched very well for his first outing of the year

now hitting .247 as a team...that's not gonna cut it

I'm pretty satisfied with a split, considering they had to start Laffey (lost) and Sowers (no decision, but a team win) due to the KC rainout and Westbrook's injury. Also, I don't think it's any coincidence that we lost both games that Grady sat out.

ETA: Hopefully Carmona can stop the bleeding tonight. Seattle is struggling, and Silva was awful against the Tribe last year.
