Safe to say Betancourt will be back in the setup role. Kobayashi will close until Borowski comes back. And when he comes back and sucks, it will be Kobayashi for the rest of the year.

Is Borowski really going to close when he comes back? Really?

ETA: And what are they going to do with Laffey when Westbrook comes back? Seems like a good problem to have, but he's gone 7 in his last 3 starts and hasn't allowed an earned run. I don't see how you could demote this guy.

I could be wrong but I don't believe Westbrook is slated to come back for at least a few more weeks, a lot can and will change between now and then.

I could be wrong but I don't believe Westbrook is slated to come back for at least a few more weeks, a lot can and will change between now and then.

"Things have a funny way of working themselves out".Can't tell you how many times I've heard Wedge and Shapiro say that over the years. And it's very true when it comes to the DL in baseball. No need to worry about that situation now.

Are there really Byrd for Griffey (post 600) rumors? That can't possibly be the best rumor coming out of Cincy from this weekends debacle.

We all pretty much heard this, but the Pirates and Indians were close on a Jason Bay deal during the offseason. I've come to learn that this deal was very close. This particular deal did NOT include Cliff Lee. The problem....the Indians were too tight on tier 2 and tier 3 prospects that the Pirates wanted. The major players were agreed to, Gutierrez and a prospect (can't remember who but I knew of him, was a little drunk last night) from the Tribe...Bay from the Pirates, but we squabbled on lower level prospects.

Bruce Drennen has been talking about a trade that the Rockies apparently offered the Indians. Garrettt Atkins for Laffey and ??I forget who??

Not sure who the other part is.Let me expand on what else I learned last night....Of all the rumors out there currently that I can think of.....Griffey, Atkins, Roberts, Holliday, maybe one or two others (Dunn?).....the Roberts trade has the best chance at happening. The main reason is we don't want to trade certain young pitchers (we also don't want Griffey's money) and we might be able to get away with that with Baltimore (for whatever reason, I don't know). With CC as an unknown after this season, Byrd gone after this season (and maybe soon), and Westbrook moving into the latter part of his contract next year...our management is really hoarding these young arms almost like they are near untradeable. So that sorta addresses why the Indians have not moved Laffey+ for Atkins. fwiw, this is definitely not coming from a blog or website or beat writer......or even second/third hand as far as I know.

I heard Peralta was the other player. I've also heard there are talks about Holliday for Laffey and a player. Colorado needs a solid, young ground ball pitching arm and the Indians need help at 3B and in the corner OF. Makes sense to me.

I heard that yesterday too on Munch.Also, I think we would trade Sowers in a heartbeat (not so much Laffey, Miller, Lofgren), but I don't think anyone is biting.

If they've ever seen Sowers pitch they won't be biting. I think it will take one of those three or maybe even Westbrook to make any sort of significant change. Another player to keep in mind, Adam Dunn.
 
Just thinking to myself today about possible available players in the next month. I'm not including anyone we've mentioned: Griff, Dunn, Atkins, Holliday, Roberts....I'm looking more at bargain players.

What would it take to bring in these guys and/or would you be happy with their aquisition? I have not looked into contracts at all.

Brian Giles - Hitting over .300 playing half his games in Petco. Very high average (.360) on the road. They need youth in the OF I would assume. If we're happy with Fransico and Gutierrez, why not ship out Crowe for Giles? Another thought, Sowers could be effective in Petco, no?

Dmitri Young - Just activated a week ago or so. Sort of a long shot here as I'm not sold on the fit, but it's a name we might want to consider down the line. I'm sure they'd take anything.

Adrian Beltre - I'm pretty sure he has a fat contract. At some point if the M's don't make a run he could be available. Dare I mention Sexson? OK I won't.

Mark Teahen - Not sure how happy they are with him overall. Just a name I thought might become available.

Milton Bradley - Maybe if Wedge is shown the door, very unlikely though.

Brian Roberts was straight from the mouth of my source where I have gotten some good inside info in the past. So I guess it's my/his rumor, not an innernet/talk show rumor.

Not sure why they'd do that, their biggest problems are lacking power at the power positions.

Agreed. Sort of sounds like a "jumpstart" thing. I don't see them going after another 2B.

Had a good time at the game last night, the 9th straight game they won with me in attendance. Lee was :lmao: early, but got it together and pitched good the rest of the way. His pitch count was so high, he had to be pulled after 6+.

Can you guys believe how bad this division is? Not complaining, just sayin'. I thought this was the best division coming into the season just ahead of the AL East and NL West. Now I'm hoping the Tigers win it with a 84-78 record and honestly I can see that happening. Weird.

Not sure what the hell is going on. Not surprised that the Sux are leading the division, but completely surprised how bad the Indians and Tigers look. :hifive:
 
That triple steal was really a throwing error by Konerko but what the heck take it while you can. Nice win Tribe. The bats really came alive.

thought it was more of an error on Hall :thumbdown:Ramirez should have closed the gap on Carroll though...would have gotten them the out before the run IMO
 
Big roadie starting tonight...KC, TEX, DET. Gotta get a nice start with Lee and CC today and tomorrow respectively.
