I acknowledge that I possibly (probably) carried in some negative preconceptions with Harmon gone but the show just felt off to me. It looked the same but it didn't feel the same. Like I said last night something just felt missing.

I was, however, a huge fan of the cold open with the laugh track and Troy's "something seems different" line. Abed "You mean the 12 new thumbtacks on the bulletin board?". The meta stuff cracks me up.

They will need to start featuring Annie's cleavage more or they might lose me. Overall, it was still funny, but I feel like something I love has been altered in a negative way, and I'm not sure I can watch what was once pure glory in a "its kinda good" incarnation. Its like watching Revenge of the Sith.

I don't think I've ever gone from liking a show to not liking a show so quickly.
Agreed, that was way worse than I was expecting. I expected the show to still at least be an above average comedy, but to no avail. The show was even filmed completely different; no idea what was up with all those close up shots.
Agreed, particularly on the filming. The parody shows were among my favorites. They don't seem to be as detail-obsessed as Harmon was.

This. Everything has been said, but I'm still in as long as there is a chance to see Annie's Boobs again.

We saw AnniesBoobs last night. You got that excited about seeing a monkey?

@abobrow (Andy Bobrow, Community writer): Seriously, like I said yesterday, if you were at all put off by last week's #community stay in for one more. #valloween is #realmunity.

I liked the premiere this year better than the premiere of Season 3. And I thought it felt like Community. It wasn't perfect, but I thought a lot of the critics were pretty unfair to it.

This tweet is perplexing and not a good sign.
I don't think it's that perplexing. Andy has been with the show awhile (he started in Season 2). so he seems as well placed as anyone to try to reassure people it's got the vibe of the show.It also doesn't appear to be the second episode screened for critics (which was the Inspector Spacetime Convention episode). Andy clearly thinks this Halloween episode is more like it. Considering he wrote last week, and he's only written one episode that I think would show up in people's favorites (Pillow and Blankets), I can understand if people don't want to take his word for it, though.

I thought it was fine. Not great, but it's not like the show batted .1000 with Harmon. Definitely still better than most network offerings, and definitely worth a few more chances. Looking forward to tonight.

But saying "Well these are the good/real episodes of Community, unlike last week" is...weird.I really don't think I'm the kind of person who would not like a show just because there's been a show-runner change, but episode 1 was really tough. It's going to be hard to hang in there if there are more like that one.

I'm syre most of you caught mist of these buthttp://www.buzzfeed.com/kmallikarjuna/35-things-you-missed-on-this-weeks-communityalso enjoyed:Greendale baby Britta beating on the police car with a hammerin Abed's Community College show, Britta kisses Jeff in the title sequence and not Troy

Annie as "The Ring Girl" was pretty creepy
I was really disapointed that she didn't change into the other type of ring girl costume. That episode was better than the first one, but not by much. Are they just showing them all out of order now? First day back and school then next week its the end of October? And Jeff and Annie are doing couples costumes? I bet they're dating now and they're just showing the episodes out of order for some reason. This Halloween episode was much inferior to the zombie one, by far.

I thought this one was pretty good. I'd put it in the top half of all Community episodes.Looks like this was supposed to be the third episode of the season based on production codes. Guessing they moved it up because Megan Ganz wrote it and they knew it was a winner and that people might be down on the show after the first episode (and after Harmon left). And I saw some things from critics last night that the third episode, which I guess was supposed to be #2, was the weakest one they'd seen of the season.

Agreed, the Zombie episode was far superior. And the Dean dressed up as the Ring Girl looked like somebody, but I can't put my finger on it.It was good to see Gilbert again and it was better than the first one, but I am still missing something

The Dean showing up as the ring girl was :lol:I really liked History 101 and though this one was OK.I think they are under-utilizing Abed and Chang, so far.

Haven't watched last night yet, but saw on Twitter that ratings dropped over 40% from the first ep to the second.

He reminded me of Jenna's fiance on 30 Rock.

I don't think it's as bad as some of the critics are saying. But without Harmon, it feels like its soul is missing. It looks like "Communnity" and sometimes acts like "Community" but it isn't really "Community" anymore.

Chevy has been outstanding. I keep wondering if the whole fight was actually contrived.
