At a 10% hospitalization rate, all hospital beds in the U.S. will be filled by about May 10. And with many patients requiring weeks of care, turnover will slow to a crawl as beds fill with Covid-19 patients.

If I’m wrong by a factor of two regarding the fraction of severe cases, that only changes the timeline of bed saturation by six days (one doubling time) in either direction. If 20% of cases require hospitalization, we run out of beds by about May 4. If only 5% of cases require it, we can make it until about May 16, and a 2.5% rate gets us to May 22.

Unless something changes with regards to US Policy, I don't see us staying under that dotted line.
There have been hundreds events cancelled. Social distancing has started. Flights from Europe has just been banned for 30 days. The slowdown will start.

I was willing to wager that the tourney gets cancelled, but then I realized that with everyone working from home CBS is looking at all time high ratings.   If these kids were infected with zombie virus, they'd put them out on the court biting each other.
I'm ripping this off of the Eye on College BBall podcast, and I think they were talking about an article that I haven't read. But, hypo:

Duke plays 16 seed whoever on Thursday. They win easily, as expected. 16 seed's leading scorer is diagnosed with Corona on Friday. What the eff happens then? It seems like we've got politicians going into self-quarantine for 2 weeks for maybe shaking some guys hand. What about sweating on someone for 2 hours? They've got to quarantine, right?

When I last was following this closely, the Chinese numbers (so this is super old info and I don't know if it's right) had the death rate for those under 40 at like 0.2%. So not far off of their actuarial table expected death over 1 year. Bad and it doesn't take into account those who got kicked in the ### but lived through it, but like, okay. I think if you sat the players down, and told them their relative risk, they'd probably play.

Coach K is 73. As are tons of coaches/announcers/whatever.

Oof.  We are going that extra disinfecting, but tonight we get a call that a bus of 150 is coming in for lunch and then on the return trip for dinner.   Fun.

We don't have enough tests wasn't addressed. He was careful in not saying anyone who wants the test can have it this time because it's true.

Whoever had the cruise ship for quarantine idea, that is a great idea.  Give it a little more time and all the staff can be people who already have or had the virus.

Not lying is important.

He finally let everyone know clearly that this is very serious so maybe that will help end some of the BS that this is nothing to worry about.

Maybe I missed it then. What did he say? Did he say exactly when we would get enough tests?
No. He didn't give any details on the status of getting kits out everywhere it needs to be. He must realise now that the US is woefully behind in preparing for this under all the US is the best words.
