I've actually wondered if we will see a big drop in the normal ER visits.  There's lots of people who would normally have gone for so many different things but will be scared to go now and catch the virus.  That's actually a good thing that they people stay away.
100% this is happening here by me. Empty ER waiting room and not much traffic anyway. Wife is a CNA and a close friend is an RN in our ER, both confirmed the same thing. Closest confirmed case is 30-40min away with none in my county(yet). We've already closed schools last week and eliminated patient visitors to the hospital. People are being sent home if they're not critical  and elective surgeries cancelled to free up rooms in case they're needed. Seems like we're actually trying to be proactive here in central Cali.

You have Instacart where you live?
My question is more about the delivery. What's the protocol when delivering groceries for at-risk elderly relatives? Drop everything on the porch? Or should I take it all home and wipe down the outside of all packaging with lysol wipes first? I'm leaning towards the latter.

EKG ok.  Waiting on bloodwork.  BP reading was accurate.  That's not something i normally struggle with - my BP is always in the "normal" range, if not low.  Hopefully that was a panic attack brought on by ingestion.  I've never had that happen before...ever.  of course, I've never been almost 45 before either.

ER is not at all busy right now (my estimate)...I've seen it much worse.
My daughters friend works in a local doctors office and they can`t take any more appointments or people.   They have been flooded with walk-ins.  This is the runny nose season to begin with and people are freaking out if they have a small cough or runny nose.

It's worth keeping in mind that things will actually be the same again.  Covid is not the plague and things are going to return to normal once a vaccine is developed.  (Or sooner, depending on how the outbreak plays out).
Tell my 401k that. Some of us needing it to live, not retire, are not banking on a quick bounce back.

This is actually good news - hopefully things will stay that way.

This is by far the best one I've seen, from Northwest OH:

Repost: This morning at 4:30 a.m., Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was served a criminal indictment by the U.S. for corporate and financial crimes. Media owners were instructed to brainwash everyone that Trudeau and his wife have the Corona virus, and that they won't be leaving their house for a while

Tom Hanks was arrested 48 hours ago for pedophilia and he is currently being kept in a hotel room in Australia, refusing to fly back to the USA. The next celebrity arrests will be Celine Dion, Madonna, Charles Barkley, and Kevin Spacey. All will claim Corona virus infections

Italy's airports have been completely shut down, as over 80 Vatican and financial officials have been served the same criminal indictments for financial crime, pedophilia, child trafficking, and sex abuse

United Emirates have completed mass arrests of their own Royal Family and affiliates

Convicted Hollywood rapist Harvey Weinstein agreed to a deal in exchange for his testimony against hundreds of top Hollywood celebrities and their involvement in the drug business, pedophilia, and child trafficking. Instead of a 55-year sentence, he only received a 23-year sentence. In exchange he provided testimonies against some of the biggest and most powerful names, including Prince Andrew of the U.K., former president Bill Clinton, former vice president Joe Biden, Tom Hanks, Oprah, Ellen DeGeneres, Quentin Tarantino, Charlie Sheen, Bob Saget, Kevin Spacey, John Travolta, Steven Spielberg, Podesta, NXIVM and PIZZAGATE sex trafficking clubs, and hundreds more who all were directly involved with Jeffrey Epstein

Jeffrey Epstein was similarly allowed to make a deal and have his suicide in prison faked in exchange for his testimony

CEOs of some major world corporations have been indicted/arrested, and some have been forced to resign — all in the last 30-60 days — such as the CEOs of the NBA, Harley Davidson, the Bill Gates Foundation, Intel, McDonald's, Cesar Awards, and Disney; the Vatican Chief of Police; etc.  Approximately 700-800 more resignations are coming in the next 3 months

The lab-created Corona virus was a cover-up for the mass mandatory vaccination agenda. Now it has become the biggest covert U.S. Intelligence operation that the world has ever seen. This mass 158,000-arrests operation will remove and capture the biggest evil and corrupted politicians, celebrities, and CEOs, including global elites and bankers such as George Soros, U.N. officials, and the founders of GRETA, inc.

President Trump will win the 2020 elections, and arrests of former U.S. presidents will occur in early 2021. All major arrests will be portrayed by the media as accidental or as conspiracy theories. All arrested individuals will be given "Rommel Death", meaning that they will have a choice between their death bring portrayed to the public as a suicide or an accidental death in return for assurances that his or her reputation will remain intact, or, alternatively, they can choose to face a criminal trial that would result in public disgrace

Some top religious leaders will be arrested or forced to resign, and some will suddenly get "sick." The Vatican will be the first, and the Pope will be removed in 2020. Production of human extracted Adrenochrome will be revealed, and Hollywood and the Vatican will be exposed as being directly responsible for that

Coming up there will be a 2-month complete shutdown of the world's most common operations, such as schools, the stock exchange, some banks, airports, shipping, travel, events, galas, expos, sport games, sport championships, music award ceremonies, NBA/NHL/Baseball games, and ship cruises. (TEMPORARY)>> There will be food shortages and staged electricity power loss. Gas prices will go down, food costs will go up, insurance will go up, gold and silver stocks will fall, and many corporations will either go bankrupt or take a significant financial loss, such as in the case of what's about to happen to Air Canada, Disney, and Coca-Cola

Welcome to the Geat Awakening. What's about to happen this summer and fall will change the world's history
This is the exact thing I was referring to in the QAnon thread in the PSF. Just pure, unadulterated crazy. Probably best to keep it to those parts, though.

I'm sure there are going to be a lot of big parties at home for St. Patty's Day. No way to clamp down. And now less than 10 in gatherings. How many parties are 10 or less?

Talked to my 77 year old dad yesterday. He tries to tell me that they are avoiding large gatherings. But only large gatherings where they don't know the people. Tells me they had their weekly BBQ at the pool with a whole bunch of their friends just the other day. And they were going to go out to eat for my brother's kids birthday, but would sit outside and as far awy from people as possible.

I was so ####### angry. Literally yelled at him on the phone. Told him I didn't give him my kidney so he could be a reckless idiot and die from a completely avoidable virus if he would just stay the #### away from people. I think he got the point, but who knows.
I gave up trying to get through to my dad. Spent hours on the phone over the course of the weekend trying to get him to just stay home. He's adamant they're not at risk because nobody they know has been traveling. Told him he was being selfish and left it there. Frustrating being on the other side of the country. Feel like I did what I could and trying not to worry about it.

Gut check time for me: If someone you know is still going to the gym every day, has never stopped his daily routine of working out midday for an hour - do you avoid this person completely? I'm in a difficult spot here, and don't want to overreact.
I say yes. My wife refused to stop going to the gym or shopping with girlfriends....now I’ve had a cough the entire day with chest tightness. Hoping it’s nothing but the anxiety is awful. Dont put yourself in this situation if you can avoid it.

she has now agreed to the stay home for the most part now.

I get the outrage.  Can we have some context here though, some sympathy, even for those who on the surface seem to be lacking in empathy and responsibility....

These are "kids" (yes, they are 18-22, but hardly well formed adult brains and all that).  They feel invincible. Its "just a flu" in their minds. Doesn't make it right, but many have had part of their college experience ripped from them.  Those who are seniors will never have "senior year" of college.  That was seriously one of the best years of my life.  Many were called back from their semester or year abroad.  Others don't have time to say goodbye to their friends who are graduating, it just was a sudden "it's done folks"

That doesn't excuse the behavior. But let's understand it before we castigate a bunch of kids without remember what we were like back then, and then adding to it the chaos, fear, and unknown's they face well before true maturity sets in.
I said the same thing to my wife last night. I did a lot of dumb stuff when I was 20. Lucky to be alive probably.

I would. I don't like irresponsible people. There is a reason shutdowns are happening. Going to the gym is not an essential outting. Those counties not ordering the only essential outings should or this will go on longer and who wants that.

It's worth keeping in mind that things will actually be the same again.  Covid is not the plague and things are going to return to normal once a vaccine is developed.  (Or sooner, depending on how the outbreak plays out).
While I dearly hope you're correct, I think there is a substantial possibility that things will not return to normal for an extended amount of time.

Two things in particular that will have a say in that are how long and how painful the recession is, and more immediately to what level social unrest rises to in the in coming days and weeks.

Same. Dad still going to unnecessary appts. Until they shut all non essential businesses down, he'll still go with the help of my bro. He wants to die now anyway since he has a motor neuron disease anyway. Depressing.

Good thoughts, doesn't fully excuse it at all, but we're all humans.

Among the late 20's/30's crowd, the most common sentiment is asking each other how we can convince our parents to actually give a #### about this.
It is a quandry because you have the younger crowd who think this is nothing, My 15 year old daughter went to a sit down restaurant yesterday--my 20 year old daughter is getting coffee right now. Couple that with the older crowd--my wife's parents are in their late 70s and they eat out twice a day and will not change. The rest of us are stuck inbetween these groups trying to talk some sense into them and just not get this virus.

At my work they told everyone with an underlying medical condition to go home, I am a type one diabetic. My boss texts me this afternoon saying that she believes I should be okay to be back in the office Monday when "everything has settled down."   WTH? I texted back and reminded her that we had one case in Colorado 10 days ago--what do you think those numbers will look like next week.

I could easily see this "redneck friends"* segment of the population doing some type of uprising through all these measures.  It's hard to reason with them about even common sense topics and these type of quarantines are going to push them over the edge.  I honestly don't know "what" I am.  In my extended family, I'm the city guy.  At work (in the city), I'm a redneck hilljack.  I can relate to either side, but, neither claims me.   :wall:     Maybe I'm "wishy-washy".

* there has to be a better term for this
I'm in FL and I think it would definitely get ugly if you told all these "don't tread on me", Ford Super Duty driving guys that they couldn't go to a bar for a cold Budweiser.

Need help in Minneapolis.  Stuck in house with wife and two young girls.  Bourbon stock took a big hit last night. Wife just gleefully exclaimed “alright crew, let’s do some cleaning and play some quaran-tunes!” She even laughed at her joke.

Send help ASAP.  Thanks.

I’m going to send this in to Jim Florentine’s podcast if you don’t mind.

Gotta admit, I chuckled too. I'm a sucker for puns.

Control your children!
Oh, she is going to be controlled.  :hot:

She was supposed to just go visit with a friend at her house and they left and went to a pizza place. Now I will give you this, she felt terrible about it and fessed up the minute she got home, but man, was I angry.

This is from a facebook post in Ohio -

"Nope just know that the media and government is trying to shut down America and they are doing it. How many people do you personally know have this virus? And hust not heard about it? Kind of funny when H1N1 was around more people died from it under obama and nothing was done this has not even killed that many and MASS panic kind of funny how the media and government manipulates people."

I just saw Trump himself say everyone needs to stay home if possible and if you must leave that you should avoid being in groups larger than 10.

And it's outside on a beach. Not like they are crammed in a bingo hall or a crowded restaurant with 85 year olds.

There's a lot worse places they could be besides the beach.

Let's calm down and not get so judgy.

This is why we stock up on booze.

We have them leave it out front and use a Lysol wipe to wipe it down. So that’s a yes from me.

I’m going to send this in to Jim Florentine’s podcast if you don’t mind.
Sure thing, though I have no idea what that means.  If it goes viral, just let me know so I can show my wife evidence of how funny she is.

This is why we stock up on booze.
Oh, I’m stocked up alright.  I knew I had a bit too much though as I found myself using the screen light from my phone to look for my phone.  🥃

Making my kids stay home.  School closed indefinitely.  My son's friends are still getting together at people's houses.  Neighbor's daughter and friend came to the door to see if my daughter can play.  We have a confirmed case in their school.  What are these parents thinking?

My son is an EMT for a local ambulance company.  He has to go out to work.  We can all get infected, we are going to do what we can to limit others getting the virus.  How hard is it to stay home if you can?  I think people are going to regret their choices in the coming weeks.  How many people are never going to see their sick relatives again?

So what would people recommend in this situation? One of our kids just finished a mission type project in Thailand. Upon completion, she started backpacking and is now in Laos and is scheduled to move on to Vietnam soon. She doesn’t really want to come home (would have to fly into Boston or New York), and would have to get a connecting flight from an unknown airport. She is not scheduled to fly home for a few more weeks (through Dubai).

She doesn’t want to come home to a hot zone and be stuck inside for weeks on lockdown or mandatory quarantine. We are concerned she may get stuck in a country that will be travel restricted and she would get stuck somewhere (either in the country she is in or at an airport that flights may be stopped).

Thoughts on her staying there? Coming home instead? Going back to where she was?

Stay in Laos. Cheap and beautiful. Social distance and all that.

I would avoid that person, and everyone else who doesn't live at my house with me, entirely.

Binky The Doormat said:
I posted in another thread about how sick I was back in October/November - like 8 full weeks.  Fever, non-stop coughing, 20 hours a day sleeping, couldn't breathe ...really thought I was going to die.  The doctor never could figure out what it was - had x-rays for pneumonia - didn't have it.  After 8 painful weeks and 2 rounds of antibiotics, steriods and steriod shots ...I finally kicked it.  Took another month to feel really normal again.  The only thing they could come up with was "it was some kind of serious upper respiratory infection."

Going in tomorrow for my regular check-in for A1C, and other tests (cholesterol, triglycerides) - now that we are hearing about the large number of "covid-19 similar" cases over the past few months I am anxious to see if I might have had it.
Report from today's doctor appointment.

Arrive ...and front door is locked with several printed signs saying !) don't come in unless you have an appointment; 2) don't bring someone in with you (minors excepted).  I am let in by a nurse who has a mask and gloves who greets me and immediately takes my temperature and gives me gloves to put on.  My temp is good so I take a seat on the "not sick" wall - while others who are "sick" (not virus necessarily) sit on the opposite wall.

I get called in - the usual weigh-in, blood pressure ...then the girl that takes the blood samples (she does not have a mask on).  After a few minutes the doc walks in and greets me with "Well, there's my patient zero!" (he's got a fancy mask with what looks like the cone with extra filters - so I can't see if he's smiling, but I can hear it in his voice).  He immediately says "kidding" and then asks how I'm doing.  Had a nice conversation while waiting on the A1C results about the overall deal and what he is seeing, stock market stuff, etc.  He basically said, yeah - it's real and we are likely seeing the initial ramp on the curve - and based on how well we distance ourselves will determine how long/steep the curve is (nothing new - just affirmation).

My A1C was down almost a full point ...as we had hoped, seems like the rise was due to 2 full rounds of steroid treatments to address my respiratory infection back in Oct-Nov.

I friend of mine in NY said her kids schools were cancelled yesterday at 3PM.  Not even saturday, but yesterday. So on top of everything, it was a scramble for day care and all that with some employers still pushing for people to come in. 9
I wonder if it was my district? Wife teaches at, and kids all go to the same district—they were one of the very last holdouts until the Gov canceled everything. We are ok though b/c the wife is now off too, I work from home and my kids are old enough to fend for themselves. My pantry will take a huge hit, but glad they are home. I can't image how other families are doing it.

BREAKING NEWS: The Oklahoma Board of Education unanimously approves the statewide closure of public schools until April 6 to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

Backpacking away from civilization might be the safest place? Sorry I don’t have better advice. Good luck

I'm in Brunswick, NJ area and commute south to Cinnaminson, NJ (at least til gov completely shuts us down)

If any FBG in NJ near me or my commute needs anything now or down the road on episode 3 of Walking Dead, keep it in mind. Maybe you're out of state and have elderly family/friends that can use something dropped off on their porch.

I dont have 17 months of supplies maybe 7...days... but can share what I can if needed...or while things are still decent at stores I may be able to get some things for someone.

We're gonna make it though.

Spent the day portioning our perishables for our employees after deciding not to open at all today (Michigan, had til 3) Pretty much there by myself all day with the owner and his wife. Owner is coughing all over, but “has had this cough for 3 weeks and no fever” but hasn’t been able to see a doctor for any tests. I asked them to stay home tomorrow and got into argument with them.
I ended with “you might take precautions and think you’ll be ok if you get sick, that you’re “at risk” but that just means be careful or something. If you get sick today, maybe you’ll be fine. If you get sick in a week, you aren’t someone who will get a respirator. You don’t meet the requirements set in other places right now, and those will be in place here if they aren’t already.”

They’ll be in tomorrow I’m sure.

my gym, LIFETIME,  just shut down indefinitely.  included in the email, everyone will receive credit, for however long they are closed.  nice job.

ER is not at all busy right now (my estimate)...I've seen it much worse.
Blood work all good, on way home.  At the end of the day, i think it was heartburn and fear of heart attack triggered anxiety, which is already on edge from all of this.

I'm going to take a break from corona news including FBG.  Not sure if its possible to avoid news, or even if thats helpful but thats it for me.

Thanks for the well wishes, see y'all in a few weeks.
