***Official Defense Streaming*** - Championship Week(s)! (1 Viewer)

missed out on sd,det, indy, miami and washington on waivers so looks like i am going with pittsburgh.
They should do well for you since I dropped them after they did jack squat for me the 2 weeks I started them

Any thoughts on Atlanta on a momentum play from last week? Understanding last week defensive blowout was an anomaly for the birds, Minnesota will be rolling out Bridgewater for his first start.

So I guess we're all dropping Houston now?
I came in to ask about them. Haven't seen hardly any discussion of them.

Where do you guys have them for the week/ROS relative to some of the more-discussed week 4 options?

Was the Giant game just a down week for them, did the Giants offense really get their crap together, or were the first couple weeks from HOU unsustainable?

If you're feeling lucky, Atlanta at Minnesota is an interesting DST. They WILL NOT match what they did to Tampa Bay, but they get Bridgewater and the depleted Minnesota without Rudolph now. Plus, you can bank Vikes will be throwing a ton and maybe pray for a Hester return TD. Maybe.
I was thinking this. Came here to see if anyone else was.

It's a good thought, but I would probably look elsewhere. Just as much as Bridgewater has a chance to stink up the place, it could also be a coming out game for him. McKinnon in the passing game, who most likely has practiced with Teddy, could fill the Rudolph role. Patterson is due for an appearance this week. Minnesota knows Hester and is less likely to give it to him in this situation.

Also Consider that St Louis has played both TB and MIN, with the scoring system in my league they scored -2 v MIN, and 10 @ TB.

The ATL defense was looking pretty awful before that huge game against TB.

I do not have ATL on the bottom, but I rank the WW DST in front of them in this order: SD, MIA, IND, WAS, CHI

Looking ahead. How soon do you think we need to roster the Browns DST. after the BYE this week, they get @ TEN, v PIT, @JAC, v OAK, v TB. I could see riding them through that whole schedule. I assume that many of us were able to get SD, and our best bet is to transition straight into CLE @ JAC after week 6 SD @ OAK. Should we jump the gun early on that and roll the dice with CLE facing a questionable TEN offense, or hosting their division rival, just to make sure we get the JAC, OAK, TB stretch.

I think if you want them for that run, you need to get them this week and hold them through the bye. Or pay for them next Tue/Wed.

Only one of these left in my league is Miami at oak... but that feels like a trap :/

May roll out new england again for better or worse.

Looking FAR ahead, in case anyone dropped them due to this week's bye, Cleveland plays Jacksonville, Oakland, and Tampa Bay in 3 consecutive weeks; 7, 8, 9
Other than the game against the Saints, the Browns Defense has underperformed. Maybe they will have together more after their bye.

Having second thoughts on starting Washington tomorrow vs the Giants because the Giants looked much better last week vs Houston. I'm going to go with Indy vs Tennessee....Locker is questionable and if he can't go Charlie Whitehurst would start.

Seems weird to me than Denver is droppable, but they are. Planned to use them most of the year but dropped them and now I'm streaming. Picked up the Steelers this week

I wouldn't say they have underperformed. If your scoring is only Total Pts Scored or Total Yardage, then yes they didn't do well. But they have managed a few turnovers and sacks which has helped them not only cover, but beat their weekly projections in my league the last three weeks.

With that said, I dropped CLE for PIT on the bye this week and will most likely pick them up and carry them over the next few weeks. The bye should help them iron out the kinks in their play, and their opponents are struggling to find themselves right now. I see CLE as a good play the next five weeks.

Came in to say the same thing Get the Browns D while on the bye. Comming up is week 5 vs Titans, 7 Jax, 8 Oak, 9TB, 11 Hou, 13 Buff

I think it's time to move on from Houston if you have reasonable options. The problem is they can't stop the run to save their lives. They're 25th in total yards/ game; 25th in rushing yards/game; 18th in passing yards per game. Even in their two strong performances, they gave up 398 total yards to Washington and 358 yards to the Raiders. If not for mistakes by both offenses, those games could've been ugly for Houston too.

They're 22nd in sacks and only have a couple of INTs, though they have managed to secure 5 fumbles so far.

Still, I'm not sure I can trust them anymore. Watt seems to be the only one capable of pressuring the QB, and Eli sat back and picked them apart last week while Rashard Jennings ran through the swiss cheese DL. They did sign Ryan Pickett to hopefully help stop the run, but he's an old street FA who may or may not have anything left in the tank.

Meanwhile BUF is 11th in the league in rushing and tied for 21st in sacks allowed (as in tied for 11th best in the league at preventing them). Don't wanna roll with Houston this week.

They'll be better later in the season when whats-his-name #1 overall DE returns.

i picked up SD last week for this next few weeks. thoughts on the titans for end of the year? never too early , right? ;)

A little of topic, but figure I'd ask here since with streaming DEF you have to have a good grasp of your bench, FA, and waiver wire.

In Yahoo! leagues with standard waivers.... after you start a player in your line up on Sunday with an early game, can you cut said player player to pick up someone who has yet to play AND still have your points count towards your team's total for the week?

I've been hit hard with the CLE and DEN on BYE, so would like to potentially get an early run at players after their replacements have played.

I picked up SD......have SEA on bye this week. Is SEA droppable? SD has a good run for the next few weeks. Can use hem and then stream rest of year.....thoughts??

Seattle was dominant last year a defense. I wouldn't drop them IMO. The type of points they put up last year can win you games.

I think yahoo allows you but I would make sure you're not breaking league rules.

Their name value may be able to get you a player in a trade. I'd try that before dropping.

No. Yahoo won't allow a pick up if the player you are dropping has already played. Waiver moves on Sunday are limited to players who haven't played yet. You can wait til Monday, move your team to view the next week and perform waiver moves so that they are recorded for the next week. These then appear as waiver pickups on Tuesday.

I've seen people on yahoo drop players that already played.

From the bench.

You can drop players who are on your bench after they have played, or even during their game. But once their game kicks off if you have them in your starting lineup they are frozen until waivers run overnight Tue/Wed

Seriously, who would think you that you could drop a player who is your starting lineup, on Sunday...and still get the points? Really?

(I also got rid of kickers entirely in one of the leagues this year, not a single grumble was heard)

Good point. Just thought the process was weird either way.

I have Miami & Washington rostered and can't decide between them.
Giants are 9th in pts allowed for opposing defenses. Oakland is 11th. I'd probably side with the home team on a Thursday night game though. The only fear is that Giants may finally be figuring out their offense.
Guess the GMen figures it out. Hope people stayed away due to the Wash injuries.

Anyone feeling that SD could end up busting this weekend? I feel like Bortles could do pretty well. Sort of leaning IND v Ten if Whitehurst goes...

If Whitehurst goes, that's either 40 rushing attempts for no yardage or the worst aired-out debacle you've ever seen.

I'm not confident about much, but I'd snap that up in a minute.

I originally picked up Miami, but after someone dropped Detroit, I decided to grab them. My only fear is that this is a road game and Detroit clearly doesn't play at the same level when they travel. I saw them in person against Carolina and they didn't impress me at all. They've looked fantastic in the other two games though.

The colts D is available in my league but I have the chargers now. I do have the same feeling that Bortles could do well on Sunday....

I'll probably regret whatever decision I make

I've seen a lot of people worry about that, but he is a rookie QB in his first start on the road for JAX. I'm sticking with SD in the few leagues I nabbed them. I think there is a real possibility that Jax gets behind and it looks like last night's game as he chucks it to try and 'catch up'

I got that feeling so I went with Miami DEF instead, had the option of getting either of them.

I'm looking ahead a bit. Does anyone like GB at home vs. MIN on Thursday Night next week? MIN is down essentially every skill position player save CP and Bridgewater is a rookie. I'm probably going to preemptively grab GB now and play them next week almost regardless as to how Bridgewater looks vs. ATL this week.

Could be the sneaky play but Thurs has been so unpredictable. For me I'm more apt to avoid it than to guess wrong and get negative points.

I think you can logically think that Bridgewater will implode on a 4 day week going into GB.

Plays of the week.

San Diego vs Jacksonville (65% owned Yahoo): Some are scared of a rookie QBs first start on the road. I am not one of those people. Start with confidence.

Miami at Oakland (44% owned Yahoo): I know Miami has some injuries and they are traveling out west but Oakland is in disarray. Raiders are averaging 12 points and 250 yards a game. Have no fear here.

Sleeper play

NY Jets vs Detroit (4% owned): NY is averaging 227 yds allowed at home and Detroit averages nearly 70 yards less a game on the road. Jets may be dysfunctional on offense but they have a top 5 defense this year.

Like the picks, but Oakland is "hosting" Miami in London, so technically, Oakland is traveling further east than Miami. I think that might bump Miami up a bit more.

They always get such awesome teams to play in London

Yeah, this is what I'm banking on. I also seem to remember Capers having a good track record vs. rookie QBs.
