*** Official Detroit Tigers Bandwagon *** (3 Viewers)

Here's the breakdown on Todd Jones......if he comes in and the Tigers have a one run lead I figure it's a loss. If they have a two run lead there's a 35-65% chance they'll get the win. A three run lead and I'm pretty confident that 25 minutes later the Tigers will squeak by with a one run victory and Jones pads his 'saves' record. Leyland has got to pull the plug on this guy now and give the closing job to Rodney.

Todd Jones sucks. Give Rodney or Z a chance to close.
Leyland WILL pull the plug on Jones if it's necessary. I think that is their fourth blown save of the year in 26 or 27. No need to panic.

I'm not at the panic point by any means but I think it's past time that the Jones experiment is cancelled. He's too easy to hit on most nights....usually walks at least one batter. It's never a good sign when your closers best pitching strategy is to just throw it over the middle and hope they hit it at somebody and not out of the park. I don't even trust him in a set up role just because of that same scenerio being possible. 16 of 18 save chances is a very skewed stat if you've watched most of his saves(and I know if you're on this thread this much you have). He's feasted on 3 run and 2 run leads and still just sqeaked by on most of those. I can honestly only remember last Saturday night as a 1-2-3 ninth Jones save. I was at the game last night and as great a win as that was this one is just as heartbreaking. Rogers pitches great,Zamaya pitches great and then Jones tosses up a beach ball. Of course, all that said it's nice to lose and still have a better record than than Boston!!! Must suck to be in Boston all the time!

sucks to be in Detroit, I guess...
Chance Red Sox win the World Series in 2006. Same as Tigers: zero. :bye:
At least your realistic ;)
I am not going to bash the Tigers by any means. The Sox announcers have already started a habit of scoreboard watching. I wonder if the Sox players have done this themselves because lately they have been playing uninspired baseball. I know it's only June and I know they are only 2.5 games out of the Central lead but they need to focus on beating whatever team they are playing..not what Detroit is up to.

I will admit, I watch to see what Detroit has been doing only because as a fan I want to see my team in first. Ultimately, however, I want a Sox win because without that a Detroit loss is meaningless.

Jones blows. Has he even had a 1-2-3 ninth yet this year?
I originally thought that he did last Saturday but he gave up a hit to Hafner...then got a double play and then got the last out......that's about as close as he'll ever get.

Bonderman is my favorite Tiger and I just wish he would bring a game like he did tonight, every night. The guy is so madly inconsistent it hurts but when he is on, he is a top 20 pitcher in MLB.

7 2/3 two ER and four hits vs the vaunted Red Sox O. He was visibly pissed when Leyland pulled him. Gotta love that attitude.

Come on bullpen!

What do you Tigers fans think of the rumor - Barry Bonds to be traded to Detroit?
Well I'm biased because I'm both a Tigers and Bonds fan but I'd love it. We so need a big lefthanded bat and he works well with Leyland. I don't think it'll be a trade but he may come over in the offseason. Our GM Dave Dombrowski is cheap and they won't give up young talent for Bonds. Next year, yes. I'd welcome him and most Tiger fans who think that would be a bad idea would quickly change their tune after a few HRs when we need them.

Makes sense, although the rumor is in large part due to their current status on top and in need of a bat, it would be a short term fix, but I'd think a team would make a move when it has the chance to win it all.Not sure about Bonds' clubhouse presence on a youngish club though.

Rumor right now is Raul Ibanez who will come cheap. They need a lefthanded bat who can PH and play either DH or OF when they need it. I can't believe we are even talking this stuff. Been a long time since they were any good and I'm enjoying every minute of it.

Does Bonds even go or does he invoke his 5-10?
If he wants to break Aaron's record he has to go to the AL.He loves Jimmy L. I'd say if a trade was worked out which again I doubt, he'd go.

OBTW, TIGERS WIN. :pickle:

No way Bonds comes to Detroit. We don't have enough room in the clubhouse for his recliner and flat screen.Go TIGERS!!!
Seriously though Illitch has a history. He told Dombrowski when he hired him that the amount of $ put into the team depended on wins. Once they have a proven product he will throw money at the team. If the Tigers are in a playoff race in September the city will be on pins and needles and Illitch will see how the Tigers>the Red Wings in the city's heart. I say they move into the 100 million neighborhood next year and I really believe Bonds is a good possibility. But I must stop this talk of next year right now. I'm just so used to it at this point in the season.

I just don't think bringing Bonds in is worth lwrecking the chemistry in the locker room. They seem to have a good thing going now.

Honestly the Wings and Pistons have had enough success to last a long time. I'll take the six championships in 17 years. But the pecking order in the city is Lions, Tigers, Red Wings, and Pistons. If the Tigers are in a playoff race, let alone in the playoffs...we'll be a happy bunch.

Hey Tigers fans,

Thanks for the game today! Do you think ya got one more in ya tomorrow? I sure hope so :excited:

Good Luck,

A Yankees fan

quite a few post season titles in this town as well. 7 in the four major sports that I've witnessed in 22 years. Not to shabby.

Didn't mean to offend, better make itDetroit = The 2005/6 regular season sports capitol of the world.

Has any city been more disapointed in two teams than the Wings and Pistons this year, in the playoffs?

Tigers go 2-5 @ home vs. Sox & Yankees

Wonder if they are as good as their record indicates...

Not trying to bash here, just saying that most of their wins have come against crappy teams, time to temper the enthusiasm. The upside is they have a lot of good youngsters, so the future looks a whole lot better than the past

O RLY? :bye: This is why I hate the Red Sox much more than the Yankees. Yankee fans normally know the game better and they aren't nearly as big of #####. Plus the century of domination over the Crap Sox is kind of funny to me. Hope you enjoy that 2004 WS. Probably gonna have to wait another 86 years if karma has anything to do with it. :bye:

haha, to be expected. This is not a Sox vs. Tigers post. They played the two best teams in the AL East, at home, and got run over. Not a very good confidence builder. Time to take off the homer hat dude

Looks like the Tigers have the Yankees, Red Sox, and the defending champs to deal with the next week and a half or so. Should be a good test.
Tough start but the White Sox are playing like #### right now. Thome continues to sit and they are having a tough time scoring runs. Haven't looked at the pitching matchups yet but it should shape up to be an interesting series.

Freddy Garcia owns us. I hate that matchup anytime we get it. Still think the WHITE Sox are the team to beat in the AL.

Should be interesting. Hopefully Grilli is almost done cleaning out his locker.

As related to the spectrum.

I forget.....who has the better record right now? Not next week, not 2 years ago,not 2 months from now......right this minute. If it isn't your team then shut up because it all just sounds like jealous whining. Thank you for your co operation and go on about your lives of watching your team chase the team with the best record IN ALL OF BASEBALL!!

ps-before you trot out the 'look at the schedule' card, consider that the last time I checked they don't let the managers sit down and pick thier schedules. How many times has Boston played Tampa Bay already?

"We'll" have Robertson, Verlander, and Rogers the next three nights.
