Romney running 3rd party would absolutely be sore loserdom. Running a no-name is pointless and running an old name just plays into everyone's mood against all that has passed before. Frankly they're in a jam. And really that's true for the GOP as a whole, oh yeah Trump was great when they needed him.

An establishment Republican running 3rd party would be about protecting down-ticket candidates.  A ton of sane right-leaning folks are going to stay home in November due to the moron at the top of the ticket otherwise.  The GOP knows that the race for the White House was over the minute the orange buffoon was nominated.  Their priority now is to attempt to limit the inevitable down-ticket bloodbath.

Retaking the Senate is pretty much a given.  It remains to see how much ground can be made up in the House given the gerrymandering.

Not empty, plenty of ammo to find.  I guess you can start with immigration regardless of how you feel on the matter.  I'm in Arizona and border patrol can't do their job as defined by law.   He's also been overturned by federal courts a bunch, stemming from his various edicts regarding other laws . I'm just not up for it right now.  There are more industrious candidates on this board than me.

Give me an article from National Review, or Townhall, or Forbes, or the Heritage Foundation. I might not agree with it but I'll take it seriously. There are lots of respectable conservative news sources. Breitbart, World Net Daily, the Washington Examiner, and PJ Media are something else entirely.

There are certainly SOME similarities.

But Jesse, while quirky, did not run a negative campaign. He didn't attack Mexicans, or Muslims, or Hispanics. His rhetoric wasn't divisive. If it had been, I doubt he would have come close to winning.  

I'm just telling you why Trump is doing what he is doing.  Whether you think there are enough similarities to win or not isn't the point.  He's trying to win like Ventura did.
