Are you Christian or atheist? It matters because I don't think you understand the level of tolerance that is being asked of them. Far more than other religions put up with before crying foul. Are you a practicing Christian?
I'm atheist, but that's irrelevant.  A Christian's life doesn't change when two people they don't know enter into a civil contract of marriage.  No one is forcing them to participate (and signing a certificate or baking a cake is NOT participating).  And isn't being tolerant of others a Christian trait?

He seems to suggest this is the case. The whole lot of "them".

It's hard to understand why opposing voters are so angry at each other.  Protesters yelling and fighting with each other at the convention.  Why are they doing that?  Who cares who another person is voting for?

Well, if you're ok with speaking your mind, then it's not really an issue, is it? Those handful of incidents on campuses don't really affect you, they just annoy you a little. What really bothers you is what Know-Nothing MOP calls "bullying" in here, where your political and/or social views get contradicted and debated in ways that they might not have a few years earlier.

COME OUT AND PLAYYYYYYY!
The put downs must mean I'm hitting right on the nerve.

Intelligent folks discuss ideas, ignorant fools tend to name call what they can't understand.

I think you're embarrassing yourself but I forgive you.

What is your point? First you call yourself a bad guy, not a victim, now you are saying you are a victim. And your posts are coming off as a whiny victim
i was trying to have a little fun but I guess it wasn't working...my overall point is if you disagree with the left they attack you and call you names (like whiny victim for instance...which is better than the usual darts of racist, homophobe or anti-group name here)....getting to be very common...I'm sure you don't see it that way and I fully understand that you are right and I am wrong...

OK you were just having fun...But could you change your icon to this? It would fit so much better

I am a practicing Christian. Not all Christians are anti-gay or against same-sex couples.
That's right, you were not taught that in church. You are like most Christians in today's America, very adapting to your surroundings.

Can a Christian look forward to not having to bend their beliefs and rules in order to make it thru the public education system grades 1-12? I can tell you as a public school teacher the last 2 years with total clarity the answer to this question...

If he was singing, "Love the Police" the PC Gulag would be out in force!
just looking for specific examples of the Liberal mass destruction of the 1st amendment. Can't seem to find a single one.

Maybe I will check the porn industry next. There's gotta be SOMEONE out there with a PC ax to grind with those folks. There's gotta be someone who wants to shut it down, right?

This guy, how many keyboards have you gone through smashing it with your fists until a decipherable sentence appears?

You are a bigger whiner than any of the BLM folks. "Waaah waaah I don't have free speech"

No, you don't understand the meaning of "free speech".

You seem to think it's a one way street. You seem to think it insulates you from criticism, failing to recognize that one of the major tenants of free speech is protecting the right to criticize!

Free speech means you can say virtually anything you want without fear of being arrested for it. That doesn't mean people can't judge you for your speech, criticize it, or hold it against you at a later time.

What you actually want is the same thing you sit there and criticize others about. You want people to keep their opinions to themselves if they don't agree with yours.
No...all I want is for discussions not to involve name-calling...I could care less what you think as long as you have respect.for someone else's opinion...I absolutely do think that the left has some good ideas or intentions even though I disagree with a lot of other stuff that comes from them...that being said right now there is an ideological bigotry where people truly hate because someone thinks differently than them...and it has been made worse by the Internet where people have a tendency to grow a sack because that is the nature of the beast...

I thought you might be atheist. Your answers show you have no understanding of how hard it is to be a Christian these days. They have to put up and allow an awful lot.

Just because you think it's awesome to watch Adam and Adam walk hand in hand down the street doesn't mean everyone else is loving it. In fact I would argue that with so many rules and laws mandated and not publicly voted into practice has created a very toxic environment in many sections of the country that were previously not as riled up as a hornet's nest as of late.

You all wonder where all this Trump support comes from, it's not anti-gay but millions of people had legislation passed and rammed down their throat...Obamacare, Gay Marriage, Syrian Refugees or the thought of them here...it's a lot for some folks all at once. You can snicker and dismiss them all but I have a funny feeling this isn't the last you'll be hearing form them. It starts with trying to elect a celebrity, god only knows what waits next.

Wow, you must really hate Trump, then.  Are you knocking on doors for Hillary or just sending her money in addition to casting your vote for her?

Like he said, he's done nothing wrong.  People can choose to not support him as well.

I saw Bill O's segment last night where he was discussing this with 2 of his regular guests (don't know the names at the moment - both middle aged white guys).  Bill ranted on it, its vile, no place in society....then asked the guests to comment.  Bill almost fell out of his chair when the first guy said big deal, I bought Straight Outta Compton when it came out in '88.  We thought it was great.

Bill also mentioned HBOs been showing the movie all weekend and they have to bear some responsibility for the recent violence.   :lmao:

When you whine and complain about being victimized, it's not name calling to point that out. It's just stating a fact.

I'll leave you with this:

I'm pretty sure none of us here have ever really had our right to free speech violated.

I've been yelled at, disagreed with, laughed at, mocked, told to shut up, called names, and probably even challenged to a fight because of my opinion(s).    But I'm still here. I'm still free to voice my opinion.

I absolutely agree that many times "political correctness" goes too far.  But we're not exactly living in 1937 USSR.

Impossible from the Left, it's their #1 tactic. They run it more often than Carolina runs the wide banana.

Are they the same Christians you mention in the 2nd paragraph that have to bend their beliefs?

Can't say my life as a Christian has been difficult. In fact, life has been pretty good the past 8 years.

I just get a kick over the "conservatives" clinging to the 1st amendment while ignoring the fact that they've been the biggest proponents of curbing free speech in the past 50-60 years.

We live in Bizzaro World now.

None of this is surprising. They want rights only when it suits them. If the sword cuts both ways it's dangerous.

You forget I teach public school

it's so irrational it is disturbing.

What, just this week "conservatives" put a petition to the white house to have BLM declared a terrorist group.

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/formally-recognize-black-lives-matter-terrorist-organization

Should have done that in the 60s with those damn hippies and maybe we wouldn't be in this pickle, eh?

For a look at the other side, check out the national anthem thread from a few weeks back. Those who advocated for (and, admittedly, made a lot of questionable jokes about the subject) discontinuing the playing of it before athletic events were vilified in no uncertain terms. When you voice controversial opinions -- bigotry, anti-traditionalism, whatever -- you're gonna take some heat.

So, can you or anyone else explain how the government will function if he cuts the corporate tax rate 10%, reduces income taxes across the board and increases military spending (ie: in China)?

Where is this money coming from? What existing programs will be cut to make up for the huge decrease in tax revenue plus the increase in military spending?
Can anyone answer this?

I'm for letting people live they way they choose.  We are NOT a Christian nation.  If you're religious, that's cool.  Keep it to yourself.  No one is telling anyone to change their views or how they live.

OK, I'm out.

Would I be correct in assuming that you never eat pork, shellfish, or beef, because you are aware that it would be asking to much of the Muslims, Jews, and Hindus in your neighborhood to tolerate that behavior?

How would you compare what you have to put up with as a Christian these days to this?  More or less difficult?  About the same?

BTW that was the response to a mostly flattering profile of Melania Trump that made no mention of the writer's religion from supporters of Donald Trump.  When asked about it, Melania Trump said the writer "provoked" the response.

Please cite the specific examples of conservatives attempting to curb speech over the last half century that made you reach that conclusion.

Do you you believe your position holds true if we narrow the scope to closer to the present (say, the last decade)?

People that don't have much going on in life or people that are just friggin nuts.  Take this thread, it's the same 8-10 guys that camp out in here 24/7 for how many months now?  How can anyone spend that much time first on a message board and second obsessing over this one topic. It's not a stretch to assume these people aren't too productive in society.

All of which has nothing to do with the right to free speech.

Unless you're getting arrested for what you say, your rights to free speech have not been violated.

This seems to be what a lot of conservatives are missing.

If your employer decides to discipline you or fire you over something you say, that's not a free speech issue. Employers have always had this right, as they should.

Remember everyone getting all hype about the Duck Dynasty guy?

Yeah, not a free speech issue.

I am confused, you first say most Christians are very adapting to their surroundings.

That's part of it. Christians are asked to put up with everything these days. They have to bend bend bend and they do it with a smile on their face for the most part.

Part of Christianity is spreading the good news IIRC, and we have by and large asked them to stop doing that and those wishes have been honored. They are in a way bending on something that is practiced by Christians in other parts of the World. Sure they broadcast on TV some.

By and large they keep to themselves in this country outside of their weekly church gatherings. Maybe it's different in Indiana, they passed a bill to try and battle back against federal regulations.

To act like there isn't a silent backlash among Christians in this country is hard to ignore IMO. It gets confusing when they are faced with a choice of trump who doesn't seem to be a good choice for their values or Clinton. And these people tend to like to vote so it's a real mystery I guess if they all stay home or decide to vote for Clinton since obviously not a one of them can stomach Trump, right?

WHEN WILL CHRISTIANS FINALLY GET A FAIR SHAKE IN AMERICA?
How's the saying go, when you've been the privileged all your life equality feels like persecution.  Never been more correct.

"I don't want sharia law!  Just make everyone read a bible verse to start the school day!".  The hypocrisy.

"One nation, under Allah" are you offended?  Good, now you know how atheists feel.
