Political impotence. And only relative to the situation decades ago. They're certainly upset that people of different cultural backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, and ethnic backgrounds have a growing voice in this country.
I think it's more than just that.  A white non-college graduate male used to have some value to women but with women earning college degrees at a faster rate than men and having to compete for women against men of other races they are feeling insecure.  Trump tells them what they want to hear - that everything they feel is someone else's fault and he will bring back the days where being a white non-college graduate male had some social value (especially sexually).

We're gonna miss these lunatics when this is all over.  I hope Trump does start his own TV network so we can keep the comedy going.  I want a two hour Gingrich-Giuliani talk show.  Those guys would be perfect together.  When they get Trump on they can have a special Nine Wife Spectacular.

Yeah, which makes it so surprising to me that they've just gone along for the ride. The only way to be competitive in national elections moving forward is to cut the bigotry out decisively and for good -- which they could have done by repudiating Trump, even if it meant conceding this year, followed by telling the next batch of idiot outsiders to eff off next primary season. I really believe that they's more than make up for the lost votes from the extremists in the middle ground independents that they'd pick up by ditching the "culture wars" crap and tacking to the center.
Several tried to repudiate trump but quickly learned that his supporters would try to 'primary' them and since cantor lost his primary that has been a HUGE fear.

In the "Trump is actually trying to get Clinton elected" conspiracy theory, what would actually be in it for Trump?
This is an interesting question.

Trump has said he gave money to Hillary to help his businesses overseas.

No one has ever asked him to explain that.

What can a president do for a mega wealthy businessman with global businesses.

Watching Trump give his latest teleprompter policy speech I'm reminded of the many many times people mocked Obama saying "anyone can do that!" No, no that is not true. Trump is terrible.

I really dislike this notion that all Trump has to do is not act like a complete and utter lunatic for 24 hours to become "more presidential". He cannot just erase every ####ed up thing that has come out of his mouth for the past year.

It's because he has no idea what all that #### means, he's Ron Burgandy.

So Manafort's response to the allegations is essentially what every corrupt Mexican cop told Denzel Washington in Man on Fire. "I'm a professional".  :lmao:

I usually stay away from the "imagine if the other guy did this" schtick - BUT if Obama had his main policy guy on the payroll for some Ukrainian despot it would cause FOX news, Hannity types heads to explode.

They would have to grow new heads every day for their shows.

maybe if he was running against somebody other than Hillary, but she's so terrible that 24 hours of pivot might be enough for people to roll the dice.

It's amazing that the Clinton campaign really still has a ton of bullets in the chamber thanks to Trump.  According to polls, Trump's worst mistake so far was mocking the disabled reporter.  That was awful of course, but IMO it is not even close to the worst thing he's said or done. I think the reason is has resonated so much at this point is that the Clinton campaign and anti-Trump PACs have run a ton of effective ads on it.  They had that one with the family with the disabled girl, and the one about how our kids are watching, and others that have included that footage. In comparison they haven't really run any ads around the Khan controversy, or the Putin stuff, or all the bankruptcies, etc, etc.  They can still bust out their best stuff on those issues whenever they think the time is right.

You know, exactly.

This is who he is, no one gets to declare victory if he starts faking it.

Those commercials are next level. Just devastating.

Especially when you grade on the Average Political Commercial curve.

It's like every other politician has been making Adam Sandler movies, and Clinton is cranking out Scorcese.

They've been given a fantastic screenplay/plot line to work with, under that analogy.

I just had a friend (I use that term lightly) post on Facebook that it's just been announced that Hillary has Parkinson's Disease. He said that we won't hear about it on mainstream media and that's why he gets his news from infowars. :lmao:

Well look at how much they have to work with. It's unreal the sheer amount of horribly offensive and genuinely stupid stuff that Trump says pretty much on a daily basis.

The most disgusting part about the wacky health conspiracy stuff is that if she did have a health issue, that fact would be used as support the narrative that she's so evil, so crooked, etc. Like some people are hoping for her to have terminal illnesses for political gain, it's pretty sick.

Very true.

Regarding the Ryan endorsement stuff, I think it'll follow him, but not sure if it's lethal.

When he starts running again, there will be few opponents that can claim the high road, that never backed Trump. Ryan can say, "For the good of the party", and "Hillary Clinton" over and over again. There will be a lot of conservative voters willing to forgive someone of something THEY are guilty of.

The problem is that he needs more than those core conservative voters to actually win an election.  Until the Republican party realizes this, they'll continue to get creamed in Presidential elections.

Is this real life?

Giuliani is the one person on earth who hasn't gone a single day in the past 15 years without mentioning 9/11, in order to help him politically.

So of course now he's the guy who conveniently forgets about 9/11 when that suits him politically.

Pretty disgusting when you think about it.

:goodposting:

And that is the catch-22 that they're caught in. They've spent so long whipping the base into an extremist frenzy, that the very things that make it possible for a Republican to win a primary make it impossible to win in the general. The anti-immigrant stuff is just poison.

Let's hope she doesn't have Scoliosis otherwise Trump will be branded so much more than he already is. Does he have any more room to be branded with anything? He's like a Nascar already.

I agree, but even more it bothers me that people think he can "become presidential" and that somehow means he is presidential. He's a narcissistic lying buffoon who knows nothing about domestic or foreign affairs. We have 70 years of evidence.

People are essentially saying they are willing to suspend disbelief about who he is if he's willing to competently lie to them about who he is

Here's an honest question for Trump supporters: Trump gets caught daily telling lies. Some big and some small. And that's not a new thing - there are mountains of evidence over decades showing consistent dishonesty, usually to benefit himself.

Given that he is a proven self-serving liar, why do you believe what he says? And, if you don't believe everything, how do you choose? Can you give any reason that a rational person should believe him now?

To be clear - this is not a question that can be answered by comparing him to Hillary, or mentioning her lies. I'm asking how and why you believe Trump, not disbelieve her.
Bump for the weekday crowd, and since nobody has given an honest answer yet

Jeb said exactly that.

Trump finally makes a great point here:

The common thread linking the major Islamic terrorist attacks that have recently occurred on our soil… is that they have involved immigrants or the children of immigrants
Trump's mother was an immigrant.  Two of his wives are immigrants, which of course means that most of his children are the children of immigrants. So I think we can all agree that, at least in this case, immigrants and their families and children to pose a unique threat to the continued safety and security of the United States.
