However many points Trump loses by, it's almost inevitable IMO that we will see a Trump 2.0 next time. Somebody, perhaps more than one, will say to themselves, "I can run on this nationalism, nativism, and xenophobia stuff just like Trump did, but I'll run a far smarter campaign and I dont have his personal baggage." That's sure to happen.

There are some reasons to think Trump has a chance at this, but I'm fairly certain facebook likes and yard signs aren't among them. And I'm even more certain that Trump is not going to win New York. I think that might be my favorite part- there are a number of comments from people who, instead of questioning the map because it has Trump winning New York, question it because it has Trump losing California.

That's why I've never been a Trump supporter because I think he's just insults, red meat slogans and catch phrases. But I can see that if someone feels as if they have been lied to their whole lives by politicians, why not say F it all, I'll take a chance with this guy and see what he does. And the more that people put Trump down, the more his supporters think he is just the hand grenade the country needs.

It's sad that they're angry about being lied to their entire life and then fall for the biggest liar in history. All the politicians lie because people want to be told everything will be alright. They can't accept the truth that when a steel plant closes due to global competition that it's never coming back and the workers will have to be re-trained for other jobs. Rather than accept that they just get mad that there aren't any steel jobs.

If anyone is foolish enough to be duped by this (literally proven) con man into thinking Trump represents anything other than his own self interest and need for adulation, they deserve the mess that they ask for.
unfortunatley that mess would also affect the rest of us, so let's hope things continue as expected and we don't have to deal with watching Trump undercut the very pawns he is using to fuel his megalomaniacal campaign.

I don't find it odd. We just found out social security cost of living increase for our seniors and disabled is a whopping .3% for next year. It's always been mid-end of Oct where such things are decided and revealed. It's open enrollment time from mid-Oct. The premiums aren't even known yet. So hardly a conspiracy going on here..

I can't find this to be anything but an absurd conclusion. Tell me, other than his bull#### rhetoric (which even you agree is at the least, election talk that doesn't really mean anything), what in Trumps history would have you think he actually cares?
His decades long history of not paying vendors and throwing his weight around?
His numerous at best sketchy and quite likely fraudulent business practices with Trump U being just one recent example?
His outright and proven lies about contributing to charities and the reality that Trump has given next to, if not nothing, in reality?
Or his countless on the record promises and lies throughout his career?

I asked you for your rationale - give me examples. I have a few that are proven, just off the top of my head.
What "nice things" have people said and more importantly, what "nice things" has Trump actually ever done.
Finally, do you refute any of the very much accepted and at times proven on the record HUGE negatives I provided that show a clear pattern of lies, abuse of power at the expense of the little guy and very questionable and likely fraudulent business practices?
These clearly show the exact opposite of what you claim as your reason to support him. And it's not anecdotal nor is it just someone "saying" nice things. It's decades of on the record history and action.

One of the most discouraging, demoralizing things about this SINGULAR election cycle for me is not even Trump, but that there is an voracious appetite for him.
There may be many excuses for being Trump (he is ignorant, racist, bigoted, sexist, xenophobic, insane, emotionally stunted, being surrounded by yes men his whole life warped him, etc.) but not many for being a Trump supporter.
It seems to be a deep rooted trait in human history that they can be prodded into action more readily against a negative than positive cause. Don't get me wrong, that was a good thing when we organized the Manhattan Project to defeat the Nazis. But in contemporary terms, if we spent a fraction of what we do on the military and helped coalesce a "Manhattan Project" with an organizing principle against cancer, we might make serious advances in eradicating the scourge.
More to the point, we seem doomed to repeat our mistakes (maybe something in our nature or character as a species could some day render us an evolutionary cul de sac? - a warning by Arthur Koestler in Ghost in the Machine) of a demagogue preying on economic weakness and vague fears, rallying them to action by demonizing a people on either/both racial/religious grounds.
To grossly simplify, humanity has different "levels" or "centers" to their being, and in turn take in information that resonates with these given, particular levels/centers accordingly. Some think there is dimension of spirit/soul, but it will suffice for our purposes to proceed to the brain/mind/intellect, heart/emotions and body/senses. Demagogues like Hitler, though evil, seemed to have either a gift for understanding or some form of instinct about manipulating human psychology to prey on their weaknesses and fears, by demonizing some "other". A lot of people don't parse/process information and their "world" or "reality" through their brain, but through their emotions and feelings, or even viscerally through their bodies. Hitler had a gift for short circuiting the intellect of a critical mass of society, and manipulating their emotions and feelings (and needless to say, once he had the full apparatus and power of the state at his disposal, he could simply murder intellectuals, journalists and educators that knew better and could have warned about him). Again, without making a direct comparison with Trump (who I don't think would conduct a genocide against Mexicans or Muslims), he does seem to be very anti-intellectual, to return to your original theme, and have a gift for manipulating feelings and whipping others up into a frenzy around the organizing principle of demonizing an "other" or "others".
Many seem to have a sense of not only physical but intellectual Manifest Destiny for the US, that as a Democracy and beacon of humaneness in an otherwise global wilderness, we somehow have this inexorable arc and trajectory of becoming more sophisticated and smarter. But the reality is, the individual and societal/cultural demons of myth are kept at bay by a veneer of civilization not appreciably bigger than humanity during WW II, and ready to break out and be unleashed at any time. For a species that has been around for tens of thousands of years, and in which sciences such as psychology and neurology are about a century old and still in their relative infancies, how much could we have realistically been expected to change in such a short interval as between WW II and the present?
