******Official Dragonlance Chronicles Movie Thread***** (1 Viewer)

Given the huge success of Game of Thrones and now seeing Shannara on MTV, what are the odds we will get a series for Dragonlance? I was wondering if maybe an on-going series might be better for these trilogies, anyway. Could be freaking awesome. So wish someone would make this happen. I am reading/listening to them again, hence the bump.

Audible. Dirt cheap since I also have the Kindle versions.

My guess is very low sadly. I don't know if anything changed but two years ago one of the original authors talked about how they had new ideas and Wizards of the Coast wouldn't allow them to even do modules for RPG let alone write a new trilogy. Any movie/show rights goes through Wizards/Hasbro and as much effort as they have put forth in this world, it doesn't seem likely unless someone just brings a bag full of money. Even then you have to worry about how much control Wizards would want to keep.

And if they gave it a go and the company doing the project wanted the original authors to be part of it, would they allow it? Either the world is too niche to make a profit on books even if written by the original authors or they have some sort of dislike for them. Either way it doesn't spell good news for hoping someone does try.

And really if someone went to them asking about using one of their worlds for a show/movie, I'd guess Wizards would pitch hard for Forgotten Realms as they are still putting out new books. From their perspective, would be more beneficial to try and get new readers into a world they are still supporting to one they haven't.
