Superflex league I am rebuilding in.  Deep 40 man rosters.

Gave up: Prescott, 2023 3rd

Received: Fields, 2023 1st

I now have 8 2023 1sts, 4 2023 2nds, 2 2023 3rds.  It's just a fun league that I went all in on 2023 for.

I had that sitting there for 5 days.  They accepted it this morning .. I know Dotson was picked up.  I had a chance to revoke the deal but felt it was worth it.  I also know McLaurin is a UFA next year.  He is not at voluntary workouts while contract extension discussion underway.  Wash Cap # are an issue partly due to Wentz so if he has to wait after the season he will be more expensive.  I think Wash won't be able to afford him.  Just thinking potential ideas.  

I think Dotson needs time to show he can contribute.  Samuel is my buy low effort at it now.

My 2 cents Is that Samuel is just worth 1 of those 2 picks, not both.

Exactly. If one assumes that having 7 of the 1st 13 picks in 2023 will improve my team by 2024. 

And as mentioned, this should lock up the top 5 picks in 2023. I’m gonna Vince McMahon strut to the draft queue & set up camp for a fun little shopping spree.

I like it. Though with 7x firsts already I may have been tempted to keep Dak. & build around him. 

that said, it’s fair, and if the Fields gamble pays off you’re still set up for a nice rebuild.

Thanks for the reply/opinion.

Prescott also greatly improved my roster for this year so the idea was to hopefully lower my points this year for some sporadic Fields points and hopefully he develops, but either way improve my 2023 1st.

Maybe the other way.  Basically he gave up a 1st rounder to move up 5 or 6 picks when he already has the top 4 picks anyway.  Just not really sure what this gains him in the big picture.

But that’s incorrect. I didn’t have the top 4 picks anyway. 

That was the gain.

This team was an usurper to that plan. They would have snuck in at 1, 2, or 3, foiling my ability to have the top 4 picks. 

And your math is wonky. Moving from 1.11-1.12 to 1.02-1.03 = 5-6? 

I’ll likely move up 8-10 picks. I paid a ‘24 1st to do it. It wasn’t a bargain but I don’t think I got robbed as you suggest.

If the ‘23 2nd is likely to be early I like the return for DJ.

I’m less optimistic than many about the future of that PIT offense with Trubisky/Pickett behind center.

Even if the ‘23 2nd is later I still like the deal for the team getting Fant+picks.

The team that the pick is from “earned” the 1.02 last season but his team is better than that on “paper”.

Easily DJ side for me.  This is very light for him. I would give this package up in every league I am in.

Your making assumptions on the exact puck numbers.  Educated assumptions sure but the pick you got may end up pick 5 or 6 instead of pick 2 or 3.  The pick would gave up could be pick 9 or 10 instead of 11 or 12.

You gave up a 1st because you are trying to corner the early market.  I don't think it's necessary to do that because of all the picks you already have.   At this point you are just overpaying  so you can say you have the top 5 picks but I don't think there is really any difference in the grand scheme having 4 of the top 5 vs the top 5.  

It's an overpay by quite a bit.

the pick I traded has been in the LCG 3 straight years. His team is super stacked.  It will be 10-12. It’s a very safe assumption.

i felt differently. In a SF league where I have only Z.Wilson, I felt I needed to land 2 QBs early. The only way to do that was to have 1-2. And I also need RB & WR.

This wasn’t some ego or glamor driven move for bragging rights. There’s practical reasoning behind my decision.

This happened today in my 10 Team 1QB PPR League:

Team A gives - AJBrown and Kareem Hunt

Team B gives - Mike Evans and 2023 1st and 2nd rounders

Team B finished in 7th place last year, and if he at least makes the playoffs this year, I like his side, I thought it was a pretty even trade.  Team B usually gets the short end of most of his trades.

It's not a fact that you move up that much.  It's an educated assumption.  You don't know the future.

You can be happy with the deal and still made on overpay.  They are not mutually exclusive.

I don’t disagree, but I don’t think it was the massive overpay you do.

I paid what i could live with paying to potentially lock up what I felt I needed to rebuild my team.  In SF QB is king. I need starting players to fill my lineup. The pick I just acquired was the last threat to prevent me from getting the top 2 QB in the ‘23 draft, and as a bonus might also allow me to get the top 2 RB & top WR.

that all has value to me.

Of course, any of those players could bust - that’s a risk to consider at a later date.

Seems fair. I like the ‘23 1st , but AJB should have more time left than Evans. It’s hard to choose which side I’d want. so it’s probably fair.

It's complicated.  We get $50 a year but it rolls over and it is used for RFA/FA and trading.  This is a contract league so when you draft a rookie they start on your DTS when you activate them you have to place a contract on the player.  The entire team has a 50 year limit and cutting guys cost you years for that year.  When you sign a FA during the year you have to give them a contract.

So every April we do RFA.  All players with a contract of 0 get bid on and then when bidding ends either they get matched or they go to the high bidder.  All RFA's will get a new contract on Labor Day as well.

I would do that...if Brown is gonna get to the next level, he appears to be in the spot to do it...the 1.10 in this year's draft is worth the risk here because even if he doesn't blow up he will still only be 25 in June and be a contributor.

I love JJ, but I’d take the Wilson/1.02 side here.

SF makes it an easy call for me. 

Of course i’d have to be deep at WR. And then I’m praying hard that Wilson is legit.

Even going to SF I would rather have Jefferson over the 1.02 and the drop from 2.02 to 2.08 isn't significant.

 
The current dynasty trade thread says 2021 in the title, so starting a new/current one.

Oh I agree. I roster him in SF. In JU’s breakdown it seemed like ZWilson was ignored on one side.
